Sorry, but I am a complete noob when it comes to computer gaming. I tried going to the buyers guide for graphics cards but it confuses me to no end. I would GREATLY appreciate any information on a good graphics card that runs with Halo PC. It has to be under $100 (i would prefer $80 or under) but i still want to be able to put the graphics setting on at least middle detail (i want the game's graphics to at least look a bit good, so i dont want an extremely weak card). I really want to play this game but my current graphics card doesn't support Transform/Lighting. I am so tired of xbox live with Halo 2, so i thought it would be cool to play this game. I have a Dell Dimension 8200 Computer (i bought it in 2001) so it is fairly new. Any replies to this post would save me a LOAD of trouble. Thanks for any help.

I know it might be a little out of your price range, about $145, but the radeon 9600 xt is a great bargain for playing Halo with. You get alot of bang for your buck with this card. Seriously, I don't think you would want to play Halo on An 80 dollar card.

Frank is right you know. I think playing halo on an $80 dollar graphics card would practically be worse then intel integrated. Your going to have to spend a little more than you want for good color and graphics.

yeah you definitely don't want to it would probably wouldn't work. I had a $90 card that wouldn't even allow for invisibility which is good cuz I can see other people but still, it didn't look as good.

Well, if you are absolutely unable to get much money, and don't care if your graphics are a bit piss poor, you can get an XGI Volari 3. At $47 it's a steal for what you get, it's comparable to some $80 cards. However, at that point all you should be caring about is gameplay, as the graphics will suck, and you will lag a lot.

My suggestion is to save up and get the 9600XT. It delivers a lot for what you get, and you can get Sapphire's version for about $120 or below.

Yeah try to get anything from 9600 XT and above but STAY AWAY from "SE" cards on account of they are worse than the original. Here's the order that cards come in from worse to best. I'll use the 9800 for example.

9800 SE
9800
9800 pro
9800 XT
9800 PE (I'm not srue if these even exist.)

Thanks guys for the suggestions. Well, i defenitely dont want to be lagging, so i will probably just save and get one of those $120 cards. I will still look at any more suggestions. Thanks so much.

EDIT: I just thought that i should say that with my current graphics card, I can run Half-Life 2 and it looks beautiful. The only reason that I cant play halo PC is because my graphics card doesnt support T/L (Transform/Lighting). Too bad there isnt an add-on for T/L. = (
