Hey guys,
It's not likely you've seen me before, since I haven't been on the forums in a few months because of the real life that beckons me, but I returned to check up on some of my old Chapters, or rather, "groups," as they officially go by now. I was surprised to find that only 1 out of 10 of them are still active.... at all. No one has posted since several months ago on the front pages, and there is nothing to do, even if there was activity...
Guys, I could be dreaming, but I think the 7th Column needs something that it's been lacking as of these past few months. Could it be the little things, like polls on the front page, articles that people cared to read, or the community that grew from the LAN-centered environment of the first Halo? I'm sure that this is partially due to the introduction of Xbox Live, but still, Bungie could adapt to this; perhaps link group stats to their pages, perhaps allow the creation of personalized group logos or group awards or trophies, etc.. I understand that they've put in an incredible amount of work at no cost to us fans, yet work can be squandered through inactivity, and there's been very little activity in improving the 7th. Column since the "new hotness" arrived, which, I shudder to say, has lately culminated into making "groups" nothing more than sporadic blogs about things even more pitiful than the information found in normal blogs.
What is my point? Not to whine about Bungie's oversight of certain needs in the community, nor to demand unreasonable services for that same community, but simply to point out to the Powers that Be that the 7th. Column is quickly becoming obsolete, and is in dire need of something else for the fans to truly find useful in the community that isn't simply found in the forums, or their friends blogs about LAN parties and favorite kills over Xbox Live.
