I am pretty sure no one sells halo 1 for pc anymore....and even if they did I don't want to pay 20 dollars for 25 letters and numbers >:(....I don't know where else to turn...help please, anyone? Just so you know I have seen some people think that this kind of thing is fake....well I have the CD >:( just not the key...:(

Ladies and gentlemen, an intelligent species!

Just go buy a copy at Gamestop or another electronics/game store.

Heck, even my local walmart has one.

Yup, looks like you're going to have to buy another copy of the game, which is not that expensive these days. I remember getting mine from Target for maybe $15 to $20, and that was around 2 years ago. I remember when I lost my key a year ago (I found it later on, thankfully) and I contacted Microsoft about it, they wanted to charge me $20 for another key. Which of course I wouldn't do, so it's a good thing I found my key. But that is something you can do also, just contact Microsoft for another key instead of going out and buying another copy. And yes, they still sell Halo 1 for the PC, I see it everywhere I go these days. Plus, my best friend sells used copies of the game at Gamestop, which is sometimes cheaper than getting a new one.

Also with those keygens, sometimes you'll get a key that is already in use by someone that has bought the copy and the that key with it. That's sometimes the problem with those Halo keygens. I had a friend play on a server with me about a week ago, someone joined the server we were on, and bam! he got kicked off instantly, because come to find out, someone was using the same key he was. The person finally left the server 20 minutes later (and most likely exited the game) and my friend could get back on Halo with no problem.

Time for a lesson on keygens!
Viruses get on your computer. They find various registry entries for different games and apps, usernames, passwords, cd-keys, and send it all back to the creator. The creator then makes a keygen that has a database of all the cd-keys and whatever. I'm not sure if this applies to halo, if halo uses a complete random key sequence where each one must be added to the database, or if there's an algorithm, in which case someone who figured it out could create thousands of unique keys. Either way, it totally screws over anyone else who legitimately bought the game and a key, even if they were foolish enough to get hacked.

http://nikon.bungie.org/news.html?item=16932 Here is how to get a Halo Cd Key retrivial program, just look!

Edit: Have you had halo already installed on your pc? Or has it never been installed, If it has never been installed i don't think this will work.

Edit2: I don't think it will work actually, try it though but you need it in the registry for the PC.

Try calling Microsoft's support.

If you gave them the number on the inner ring on the HPC CD, you should get a new serial.

Yeah he can for a $20 price tag. I've contacted them before when I lost my CD key (as I've said in my last post) and Microsoft wanted me to pay them $20 just so they can give me another key for the game. That's how they work, I suppose. I personally think that's unfair since you actually bought the game from a store (not downloading it illegally from some website) and they charge you for another key if you lost the original one. So I've learned to write down my CD key on a piece of paper and keep it in a safe place (a place that only I would know) after that whole fiasco.

He can do that though, that's his best bet to contact Microsoft.

Who...me? For posting about the CD Key retrieval program if you lose it and have it already in the registry?

Can't remember who exactly you had to call, but you could get new keys for free.

They care so little these days that I know of plenty people who got multiple keys by using the same CD number.

No mats3r 350, I think it was the posting about the keygens from a person that posted before. Now that's illegal, but what were you talking about, if it's already on your computer somewhere and you need a program to find it, I personally don't believe that's illegal.

Ahh, ok, i forgot about the keygen thing. Yes, that is illegal, don't go down the lines of using one.

Just ring up Microsoft about it.
