HALO 2 VRS HALO 3

State your opinion about halo 2 and halo 3 here.

This is my rant about how I think halo 3 is a better game, in my opinion
Although; I will NOT…
-call you are a noob
-call you are a little kid
-call you are a dumb @$$
-say you don’t like halo 3 because it takes too much skill 4 u…
and so on if you disagree with me. For my pet pev about bungie.net is when people make topics about how “halo 3 sucks”, how “COD4 sucks, how “Halo sucks in general” and they say any of those thing I listed above about u if u disagree with them. I just want to tellport into their computer room and beat the living sh1t out of them with a metal pipe when they do that.

and so anyways I hope you do the same

And also I don’t care if I spell anything wrong or if I have bad grammar. It’s the freaking internet you don’t need to talk proper. I mean really come on you don’t even talk proper when your talking to your real friends outside of games, do you?

So anyways…. ( I tried make it easy to read by making it organized and no walls of txt)

Also note: in order particular order

FEATURES

First I’m going to talk about features. Since halo 3 is a newer game it has more features, just like any other game sequel. Here is the list of new features that makes halo 3 awesome : (not in any order)

-Equipment (bubbles shields and power drainers add new tactics to halo. New tactics are always good)
-New/more Weapons (gotta like the Spartan laser)
-New/more Vehicles (The chopper is awesome, and the prowler is sooooooo much better than the Specter, it’s easier to splatter with and having the turret in front is better)
-Theater!!! (An amazing feature, how could u not like it?)
-Forge!!! (the only map making feature in halo 2 was to choose the weapons on the map, which was pretty much not a map maker at all)
-People can’t hide swords and shotguns up their butt cracks anymore because the weapons are on people’s back in halo 3
-Customizable armor
-More custom game features
-A ranking system (although it may cause frustration, its better than halo 2’s)
-4 player co-op
-New flood forms
-Can change your game type settings in the lobby
-Veto system
-Party up system
-Better graphics of course
-And much more

However; there are three thing where halo 2 wins:

-Clans
-Can load a profile’s character onto a Xbox live guest so you don’t have to make your guest’s armor every time they sign in
-The ability to rip off turrets in halo 3 and carry them around is stupid. It’s a turrent, ITS NOT SUPPOSE TO MOVE!
(however, those are pretty small features compared to h3’s new features.)

MISSIONS, CO-OP & STORYLINE

I also believe the halo 3 campaign was better

A.I.

In halo 2 the scarab was like an elevator. It didn’t interact with its environment AT ALL. It did the same thing every time you played the game.
But in halo 3, the scarab will actually look at you, shoot at you, walk around, and so on just like a normal AI. For something that HUGE to shoot at you and change what it does because of you is FRIGGIN AWSOME!

In halo 2 the little flood guys (infection form) tried to dodge bullets. WTF? You’re a fricking little balloon! Why are you trying to dodge bullets? The only way you can kill me is by running straight at me and touching me and you’ll die in one bullet of anything anyway! It was better in halo ce when the infection form would run straight at your in large groups as you dodge and jump and try to kill everyone b4 u have to reload. In h2 it was a joke. In halo 3 it’s back to how it’s suppose to be even though there are less of those little infection forms guys.

Over all the flood is a lot better in halo 3. Along with the fact that there are new forms the flood will charge in huge hordes all at once giving you that close call excitement.

Also marines don’t suck at driving so much, I remember parts in halo 2 where I had to get out of the hog turret and drive myself. (they still suck though, lolz)

However I do miss the brutes going berserk like they did in halo 2.

Storyline

In halo 2 they where just like “o yeah, fyi, there is more than one halo.” They introduced more halos in such a stupid causal manor that it seemed like nothing.
And the end of halo 2 was like “WTF???????????”

While in halo 3, I got that “if I die everything in the universe dies” feeling again like I did in halo ce. How they brought back the halo you destroyed in halo 1 was very dramatic, along with the part when you actually get to fight side by side will the flood. And a great good conclusion to the series that made you shocked if u didn’t watch after the legendary credits.

co-op

Halo 3 now has 4 player co-op
And can be played over Xbox live!
Which is obliviously better than halo 2’s spilt screen only 2 player co-op.

And now they have campaign scoring and skulls that you can turn off and on, and along with achievements that make it feel more rewarding doing the campaign.

other…

The flash light in halo 2 ANNOYED THE -blam!- OUT OF ME! It seriously only lasted 5 seconds before it went out, and then it could be turned back on right after. Now in halo 3 there is no more invis, but hey that was only for the arbiter anyways.

THE MAPS!

This is one part about halo 3 haters I do not understand. “the halo 3 maps suck, the halo 2 maps were so much better!”…
Umm…
WHAT? I disagree so strongly, I mean really, the maps? THE MAPS? The halo 3 maps are all great designs that had a lot of thought put into them. And I mean really? How can you hate a game because it has bad maps? And besides Halo 3 maps are so much better than halo 2 or halo ce’s maps. I just don’t understand what people are thinking when they say halo 2 has better maps:…

Valhalla vrs. Blood Gulch (or co.ckulation)

blood gulch is a really crappy map. I use to be a big fan of it, but valhalla is so much better.

-the bases in blood gulch (older version of the map) are the worst bases every in any video game ever made: there are only two ways out of the bases, and all vehicles (tanks, warthogs, ghost) and snipers will camp those two exits from the outside until someone comes out, making those inside trapped with no hope, for there isn’t even weapons inside that can do anything to vehicles and snipers. And you have to go outside to get to the roof, which is one of the stupidest things ever, for the roof is open for attackers to use but no defenders. And, if your trapped inside they can just jump down into the middle of your base, but you cant get back up to the roof. And the roof has cover in all directions, and the better weapons, and the freaking telliporters for crying out loud. And in the inside it’s boring by the way. There are no good walls to bouncing grenades off of and defenders inside have to worry about 5 entrances and their all plan old hallways.

-In halo 2 they added a basement with a banshee. Yes that’s nice, it doesn’t help with the entire roof and boring inside problems. The bases still suck. Not to mention the attackers now have a 6th way into the base now. And even worse they made the path to getting on top of the roof from inside the base even longer.

-while the bases in valhalla are a beautiful piece of work, with the main part (and objectives) of base being on top, a easy way to get to the top to bottom and bottom to top, cover from the front of the base but NOT the back is awesome (unlike blood glutch), many ways out, and how vehicles can go on the top makes these bases very fun. The whole halo beam theme as the bases is very cool too. And having the objectives right next to a man cannon actually gives the objective carrier a choice to walk it or have a team mate drive you, which adds funnier game play, epically since there are caves and hills to keep them safe from snipers.

-While in blood gulch if you have the flag/bomb, walking it is not a good option, at all. There isn’t a man cannon next to the objective and players have to go outside and on the roof to access the teleporter which takes too much time. So really you in blood gulch/coagulation your only choice is to have a team mate pick you up. Stupid stupid stupid.

-In blood gulch there is pretty much no cover what so ever from snipers and warthogs. Means that if your anything else but those two you -blam!- and will die. Blood gulch is too big to be fun for anything but snipers.

-This is fixed in valhalla with rocks and a big hill in the middle. Players on the hill will have a great shot with Spartan laser and sniper, but players can take cover in the caves or charge up the hill cuasing many intense fights. And since the map isn’t just a huge freaking boring plan of small hills being in a warthog becomes fun and a challenge. And since the map is smaller there is always more going on.

-Man cannons are a lot more fun than teleporters, for they have snipers have a chance to kill and vis versa and they can’t be camped and can be used by anything

-And blood gulch is just a big boring old valley. Anybody can make a map that simple and boring and stupid, anybody. How can anybody like this map?
(note: yes I know I copied and pasted from an older forum.)

Guardian vrs. Lockout

What’s everybody’s deal with lockout? Again I just don’t get what people see whats fun in this map.
Along with the fact that they brought lockout back in the legendary map pack, Guardian was already better.

-Lockout is poorly made when it comes to grenades. There are no good walls or walk ways to use them, the really only good spot for grenades is the basement of the sniper tower and maybe the hall with the shotgun. You know what I’m talking about.

-While in Guardian there is grenade action everywhere. Both towers both have good options for grenades. For example the base with the sniper makes grenades an excellent. The walk way allows you to bounce grenades off the floor and into the air and explode. The ramp from the lower basement to the middle floor is also an excellent opportunity for grenades. Along with the curved path to the tower.

-In Guardian the lower path is straight giving snipers a great shot down there. While in lockout the path is bent is split in half and moved a little.

-The middle of garden is a constant warzone. It’s barely possible to cross the map without being dying. While in lockout players across the middle all the time without a bullet touching them.

-The lower walkway that’s the L shape (with the flag on it) has no cover from anything. Guardian's L-shaped ramp is safe.

-People would camp Lockout’s grav lift. The trees that you can jump up to is better. And man cannons are an easier more exiting way to get around.

GLITCHES

Halo 2 has too many glitches. Too many glitches ruins the game.

For instance the super jumps. People used in matchmaking to jump up to certain places no player was suppose to go. Using glitches on any game on xbox live is super ghey.

People could also get out of the maps, even better!

And it was awesome when my halo 2 rank reset back to 1. NOT.

GAME PLAY

So now for game play. It’s hard to compare halo 2’s and halo 3’s for they are very similar. When halo 2 came out it was obliviously a lot slower than halo 1. But hell halo 1 didn’t even have Xbox live. Halo 3 is very similar to halo 2’s game play, but of course it’s better; for Bungie wouldn’t have realized halo 3 tell it was.

Many people will be shocked by this, but I believe halo 3’s melee system is better than halo 2’s melee system. In halo 3 it is whoever was damaged the most before being hit died, even if one hit was slower than the other. In halo 2, its host wins. I not just saying this I truly believe this.

New tactics have been brought up into halo’s game play when equipment was introduced in halo 3. Bubble shields and power drainers are great for game play.

The sword duels in halo 3 are a lot better than just randomness when it was sword vrs. sword like it was in halo 2.

Halo 3 only has 4 grenades max in match making. Good, 8 is 4 too many.

Halo 3 also has a much more interesting choice of match making.

And halo 3’s maps are smaller (most of them are), which makes the game faster paced.

Halo 3’s hit boxes are more even between Elites and Spartans. In halo 2 it was way too easy to get an head shot on an elite. In halo 3 it seems like everybody thinks it’s harder to get head shots on elites now.

LAG AND PROBLEMS WITH HALO 3:

First of all halo 3 isn’t that much lagger than halo 2. If you open your NAT it would be better. No joke. I opened my NAT a month ago and I could see how much it got better.

As for head shots not counting its only because of the lag. Fix it or get over it.

WHICH TAKES MORE SKILL: HALO 2 OR HALO 3

You’re an idiot if you think one game takes a lot more skill than the other. I also don’t believe it’s easier to get to 50 in halo 3. I think it seems that way because people actually try to get to 50 since they get to be a general once they do.

OTHER

There is a halo 2 sucks.com
There is no halo 3 sucks.com

MY CONCLUSION:
If halo 3 came out before halo 2 you guys would like halo 3 more.

People only like older games becuase it makes them "spoiled" in a way so that when newer better versons come they dislike some very very small bad features and hate the game becuase they are to use to the older one. This only applies to sequels.

All throughout history great empires rise and fall. How you ask?
Two reasons:
1. Economic failure because of either inflation or socialistic programs.
2. War. Their armies were spread too thin and too far from home.

The United States has bases all around the world in "hazardous" areas and it's economy collapses it seems every 20 years. Do you really think that history won't change? Do you really think that you can run the world?

Simple answer:

We like the old ways better than the new.

Old maps, old weapons, old graphics, old everything.

Plain and simple.

At least halo 2's campaign was actually thought out and actually great. Halo 3 had no original storyline, it ended like it did in halo 1, was just a continuation of halo 1 (I refuse to call it CE because of Custom Edition). In Halo 2 the story was original and don't forget CHALLENGING, the ranking system is better, Halo 3's is just too random. Superjumps are totally awesome and a game with out glitches is a horrible and boring game. In halo 2 (i imagine) the person with better knowledge of the game would beat the one who played it fair cause they used the whole games arsenal. The maps in halo 2 are 3000x more enjoyable than Halo 3, Zanzibar pwns Last resort, Lockout pwns Guardian/Blackout, Coag/BG are more enjoyable than Valhalla and Headlong.

  • 09.04.2008 2:54 PM PDT

im not saying vahalla is better than blood gulch but dont u think it would be cool if they brought blood gulch/coagulation back into halo 3? (it can be modified of course) the forge options and making racetracks would be so much fun! and the map was simple, go to the other side with lethal force and risk ur life for a flag. ahhh... the old days =3 i just really wish they'd bring it back... it was AN ORIGINAL!!!

The maps in halo 2 are 3000x more enjoyable than Halo 3, Zanzibar pwns Last resort, Lockout pwns Guardian/Blackout, Coag/BG are more enjoyable than Valhalla and Headlong.
i dont know about that... i would have to agree that the remakes are alot better... and headlong wasnt that similar to blood gulch, though, headlong was one of my favs...

You explained your topic very well, very detailed, but as I can see, you did not even try to take in account of any real positives in Halo 2, nor did you really point out any negatives in Halo 1 or Halo 3.

First off, (dont mean to offend, but) it is clear that the name for the name of this topic should be "Halo 2 sucks, read my topic before flaming" Seeing as how you did not really compare Halo 2 and Halo 3, but rather point out every negative in Halo 2, and bring a few tidbits of comparison to Halo 3.

Though I do understand you point of view on Halo 2, but sadly, is the fact you never even mentioned that Halo 2 was a rushed game, Bungie was givin a deadline, pretty much 9 months to create and finish a game, as opposed to Halo 1 or Halo 3, where they had a lot of time to find and fix any glitches or bugs.

Despite the fact that the game was rushed, it was actually a very good game, campaign wise for me at least.

In Halo 1, it was a simple plot, Aliens are killing off the human race, they are religious, and you find yourself on a ancient alien relic which they covet, you must survive and kill everything in your path to save your race, and of course, find many secrets within the ring.

In Halo 2, the Covenant is givin an actual existence, they are giving detail, and shown that they are not just some weird alliance of killer aliens, and the plot of the game is more complex and detailed, with new events and such that lead up to halo 3

As for the marine driving skills, that was a first, like the AI of the marines of Halo CE, (keep in mind that they are terrible shots in that game, even with a freaking plasma rifle which is accurate, they still scream friendly fire at each other as they shoot themselves when trying to kill the enemy) But again that was a first.

Of course, there is more, but you can find that out for yourself through your own choice of Halo lore/game research.

Next time you try to draw in the whole "this game sucks, here is why it sucks, compared to the older/newer games" Do a thorough research, and make a FAIR comparison.

(by fair comparison, list every negative, and positive on Halo 2, and Halo 3)

Im not trying to attack you, again, I like Halo 2, and its many great things, save the glitches, gotta love the elite ranks.

*sigh*

pure and simple halo 3 is suppsed to be a first person shooter. this means the CORE ingredients have to be at a minimum GOOD. this core ingredient is weapon physics, more specially game physics. the BR is a direct-fire weapon in halo 2, wherever you shoot the bullets go there, which means to kill someone it will take skill. in halo 3 the br is a spread shot weapon, disgustingly inconsistant (even though the BR is my most used WOC by a long shot in halo 3). the NORMAL weapon lunge is RIDICULOUS, whats the point in having a sword in halo 3 where an AR lunge melee has you flying across the map just to beat down some kid. the sniper in halo 2 takes more skill. head shot kill is a headshot kill. in halo 3 i can shoot you in the shoulder and i get a head shot. theres no skill to no scope. i remember shooting a bk in the neck and getting a snipe in halo 3. and the shotgun in halo 3 is OVERpowered. basically i like my stuff nice and simple, i want it to take skill to kill someone, take time, not a mid range shotgun blast one lunge melee on host when the other guy has full shield, and not luck with a dodgy BR. this is why halo 2 is what i prefer. HOWEVER, halo 3 owns halo 2 BIGTIME in the customz department.

"What I see is insanity,
What ever happened to humanity?"

Here's my opinion... which is what it is.

I enjoy Halo 3 for a lot of reasons and I play it a lot. But I do miss some aspects of Halo 2 that were lost in the transformation. You see, even though you list glitches like superbounces and getting out of the maps as negative aspects, they were some of the more fun parts of the game. I used to just be able to hang out in a custom room with a couple people I hadn't talked to in a while and mess around. Exploring outside of the map and messing around with superbounces were some of the things that we did.

Also I really enjoyed the old maps in Halo 2. I miss Relic, Terminal, Headlong and various other maps. I also miss CTF being what it used to be. I dunno maybe, I seem like an old guy now, but I loved being able to throw the flag. It was fun and required a lot of team work if you worked out a way to pass it from partner to partner. But anyway, I can see why some people wouldn't like Halo 2 if they don't have the same, I guess nostalgic, point of view but it's definitely something I miss.

Take it as you will.

I don't feel like reading it but this part is wrong

"-A ranking system (although it may cause frustration, its better than halo 2’s)"

Halo 3s ranking system is horrible you can with over 10 in a row and not go up but lose 1 then win 1 and go up everytime and its extreamly easy to get a 50

Halo 2s ranking system goes by xp you need a certain amount to go up, at about ranks 20-40 its could take 2-4 wins in a row, 41-44 could take 3-6 wins, 45-48 could take anywhere from 4-11 wins in a row, and 49-50 could take 7+ wins. But if you lose just one game you have to wiin 2-4 games to make up for it depending on the levels you play.

So halo 2s ranking system makes it extreamly difficult to level up unlike Halo 3s which is easy

NOT.

for starters its superbounces not jump

and most of the glitches in Halo 2 actually make the game more fun ex: cloning, triple wielding, bounces, barrier breaks, vehicle cloning, pressure launching, Nade launching (no idea why its not in halo 3), Button glitches, etc.

if it wasn't for bounces and glitches there would be a lot less people playing halo 2

and for the rank reset it was because of the new banhammer and it wasn't hard to get your rank back, before reset I was a 40 and right now I'm a 47 (48 highest)

I was just reading some of it and most of what your saying is wrong

PS Why would you be comparing them if you only played 24 games??

I've got no motivation. Where is my motivation? No time for motivation. Smoking my inspirationnnnn huhhhh

Halo 2 had things that separated good players from bad, which was glitches, if you weren't very good at them you didn't succeed. Halo 3 is easy, anyone can get a kill, just spray the AR like 6 bullets then beat down. it's easy.

  • 09.09.2008 9:36 AM PDT

Overall, I like Halo 3 better than Halo 2 since Halo 3 has the forge, theater mode, online co-op, and greatly improved graphics. However, there are parts of Halo 2 that were lost in translation and I greatly miss them.

Mainly, I preferred Halo 2's maps over Halo 3's maps, and I especially miss Coagulation. It's size and shape were just perfect for so many game types like Cat and Mouse that just won't work on the Halo 3 maps like Valhalla. Then there is the zombie classic, Foundation. But even if Foundation was remade for Halo 3 I doubt it would work as well as it did in Halo 2 since the pistols were changed. And who can forget Tower of Power on Ascension? (I still go back and pop in Halo 2 from time to time so I can play these game types.)

Then there were the glitches in Halo 2 like super bouncing that many miss dearly, and no clan support on Halo 3 is a huge disapointment.

lol im so glad the glitching is gone in halo 3. In Halo 2 people couldnt win without cheating somehow

  • 09.10.2008 12:24 PM PDT

IMO Halo 2 was alot funner than Halo 3 because....

Halo 2 good things:
1. There were alot of ways to win a fight when some guy got you to like 1/4 shields ie. BxR 2. The vast amounts of fun yet annoying glitchs. 3. Ranking system was more straight forward then Halo 3's ranking system (you win games you go up, you lose games you go down) 4. The map designing was near perfection! (Midship and Ivory Tower are some of the best maps ive ever played) 5. The weapons dont respawn at a set number of seconds (Power weapons like sniper and rockets would only respawn after they had A. been used and droped or B. droped and left unpicked up for X seconds) 6. The melee system. 7. How a guest can make his own profile and not have some random emblem. 8. If a guest signs out the screens adjust to the leaving player.

Halo 2 bad things:
1. Glitchs like i said before. 2. Modders and cheaters in general. 3. Plasma pistol charge thing had to strong of a lock on. 4. The INSANE amount of autoaim/bullet magnitisum. 5. Lack of creative gametypes.

Halo 3 good things:
1. Lots of gametypes. 2. Thearter 3. Forge 4. Armor permutations 5. More colors 6. Military ranks. 7. Less auto-aim/bullet magintisum 8. Party-up system 9. Veto

Halo 3 bad things:
1. Connection 2. Hit registration (as in everyone in the game will be green bar, i shot a guy in the head with snipe, he doesent die, i check connction, everyone still green) 3. BR spread (its adding challenge to it but kinda unneccesary cause its a persion [spelling] weapon) 4. Annoying infection gametypes

Well, you certainly know how to start a flame war. As you said, you enjoy a flame war. What I don't understand is why you would set up a topic where the title and the first part of the thread is full of venom, then feign anger when people act exactly the way you had hoped/planned.

I thought Kasith had valid statements and I would rather see you respond to posts like his. If not, I'll assume you only made the topic to flame.

If you havn't played Halo 2 online than you are missing so much. Plus if you have played a good amount of Halo 2 online, I might have a better chance of listening to anything you say.

Halo 2 will always be better than Halo 3! ALWAYS!!!! If you want I can say why I think Halo 2 is better than Halo 3.
