Master Chief is a futuristic version of Sam Fisher? Maybe so in the books (I haven't read them), but definitely not in the game.

Other than that, I agree with you.

He'll have to be if he's going to go visit a Covenant homeworld later on. No matter how powerful the Mjolnir suit is, nor how skilled you are with running and gunning nothing but stealth would let you survive against millions upon millions of Covenant.

i think halo did so well because of its "simplicity" two guns, two grenade types, a jump, a melee attack, a crouch, and a flashlight. and that was all you had.

I agree, and I think it should stay that way.

*takes away Riddick's motion tracker, flashlight and binocular vision* You don't need gadgets so I'll just take these.

Sprinting could be construed as a 'tool'

Imagine geting the drop on a dark room full of a dozen pissed of Brutes searching for you. Sure, you could just bast away at them with whatever you have, but it could be cooler to sneak your way across. You sure as hell want some kind of helpfull gadget there.

Wow...Halo was fun becuase you were stronger than the rest of the aliens you were better!
Why in gods name would you want to be sneaky? If I was put in that situation I would have a nade in my hand and a battle rifle in the other I would kill every brute becuase Master Cheif simply can he dosent need to be steathly to live. You are a Super Soilder you FIGHT everything to ensure humans live and if you left those brute behind whats stopping them from kill a bunch of marines? All of the Bond games are worthless and to even compare Halo to one is a waste of time. Halo also isnt close to Splinter Cell. In Spinter Cell you were stopping a virus from kill thousands of people...Well thats pandora tomrrow. You had to be steathly or else they would relese the virus and kill a bunch of people. Halo is about saving Mankind so why would you be steathly? You want to kill every covie right? Not hide in the shadows and wait for one to pass. No instead you have some kind of weapon blazing away and instead of realoding you run up and beat the crap of out them. I dont want to be steathly or even have the option I want to kill every covie.

The Master Cheif can jump like 9 feet high in the books. The flashlight IS kind of unrealistic in 2552. Personally, I like stealth, it's fun to sneak past an entire room full of covenant, then throw a grenade, and all hell breaks loose, and walk out while grunts are screaming, and jackals are making those wierd noises.

As for the grappling gun? Nice idea, but not gonna be in the game. The best things that I want in the game that haven't been confirmed yet, are the Human Aircraft, and Bots. 1. A Human attack aircraft would even the odds against Banshees, and 2. Bots would be awesome, becuase I don't have, and don't plan on getting Xbox Live, and all my freinds live far away, and don't have Xbox's, and I only have 2 controllers, and it's boring playing against my brother becuase I ALWAYS win.

If those two things make it into the game, I'll be happy. And if I have to sacrifice not getting a grappling gun to do it, then fine. Besides, a grappling gun would make it harder for Bungie to keep people out of places you're not supposed to go. It's supposed to be a challenge. (heheheheh)

I hope they don't give the Master Chief gadgets like that, the game would become James Bond in Monjulor (sp?) Armor. It would just ruin the game like in James Bond you can carry like thirty guns including like 2 rocket launchers and 10 assualt rifles.

Its just not a good idea.

Mjolinr. And it's pronounced really wierd: "Myolner" according to Joe Staten.

Replay value my friend. I've played Halo with all guns blazing, I've played it using stealth and tactics, I've played the first half of the game without firing a single shot (Unfortunately you HAVE to shoot the Flood).

My friend and I play very tactically. For example one of us would hide behind a wall, then the other would reveal himself. When the Elite gave pursuite he'd get a nasty surprise to the back of his head.

I want the option of playing though Halo2 in as many ways possible.

I can see that.. But I dont want to HAVE to be steathly...I also would hate the idea of having a hook..Its in the future I think grappling hooks are outdated and would also make the Cheif look stupid as he hooks his way up to a sniper spot.

Cased ammo should be outdated by 2550 but we have it. Most of the UNSC's arsenal is becoming obsolete now, let along 500 years from now.

I also don't want to "Have" to be stealthy. Sure I could charge into battle against the two hundred covenant around the pass and most probably die but that's my option *lol*

I would like to choose when to be stealthy and when not to be depending on what kind of day I've had and what music I'm listening to. I'm a moody thing.

Mjollner, at least that's how it's spelled translated from norse, was Thor's hammer guys. Of course with runes it could have easily been spelled like that depending on the dialect since most runes were just whole words in picture form. Taking into account the accent and the way that the j would be pronounced in norse (at least in this situation, mind you I'm only a fan of norse not a scholar) that makes sense.

Blast it, I forgot to actually put my on-topic reply in this post.

first off gadget means: an often small mechanical or electronic device with a practical use but often thought of as a novelty.

As such guns are not a novelty as one must shoot an opponent. Radar, well one must know where to aim said gun, and as such radar not too much of a gadget but eh. Binoculars, still need to know where to aim at, and with the pistol example given it makes that weapon more effective at shooting an opponent. Flashlight, well knowing where the thing is that you want dead counts as not novelty in my book. And as far as the starlight scope goes see my flashlight comment.

I’m not anti-gadget per say but saying lets rob everything that looks like a gadget from those her don’t like gadgets is a wee extreme on this case. The grapple I would actually enjoy using in certain parts of H2 as long as it doesn’t bypass too much at the time, but having it as a constant option gets too many places opened that shouldn’t be. And the grapple would add options as far as easter eggs go. But I don’t like the idea of it being in MP as it would be rather unbalancing since a sniper could just get up on the surrounding canyon walls on a board set mildly like BG and take a shot, duck back, run to another random spot, and repeat as necessary or until someone else hops up there and hunts them down close range while he’s sniping those poor fools on the canyon floor.

I feel that all gadgets should be reviewed on a case by case basis on whether or not it would be cool to have them in the game since gadget basically means novelty. One could argue that dual-wielding would be a novelty and hijacking would be a novelty, and there is no arguement against elites in MP being a novelty. But they are all still cool and rather welcome, at least by me.

Exactly. I want to rip up some covies, trust me, but somtimes it can be more of a thrill to sneak. The next time you play AotCR, try silently killing all the covies in the smaller rooms. Totaly fun.

Ammo isnt outdated it can be updated by its velocity and the size speed and whether its AP or HE I mean sure plasma is cool but its just a super heated bullet. Plasma is like an uber bullet that is faster and burns on contact with skin. But if the Marines or Master Cheif could get some HE rounds for the battle rifle..Then I think it would be an easier fight.

Cased Ammunition however *is* outdated, caseless ammunition is far more efficient. The only thing preventing it's prevalence in today's world is that companies that supply ammunition don't want to foot the expense of converting their facilities.

I've also seen a homing bullet that uses an universal joint in the middle of the round allowing it to alter its own trajectory.

If you want to see a modern piece of ballistics I recommend going to www.metalstorm.com

I guess but it is the future so Caseless ammo should be in effect.

To someone elses comment I have played halo steathly when the grunts are asleep but..I would rather be in a huge firefight.

It's much more fun to be stealthy when they're awake. It's challenging as well. You have to keep one eye on your tracker at all times since if an alien stops moving he dissappears off of it.

My favorite first challenge was crossing the first bridge in Assault on the Control Room without being seen.
