When you set up Halo does it test your connection speed and set the number of players based on that, or does it just set it at 4 and you have to play around till you find your max?

Also, how is cable modem? I know downloading is fast, but upstream is not as fast. Also, does it slow down alot if a lot of people in your area are online? I've heard that can happen, but everyone I know wirth cable modem says it's very fast.

Whats the minimum connection speed to host games with 6-8 players, without lag?

i would disagree, but i am an ass. i have adsl and that is a 4mb line :D
so really i think dsl is better but it depends on ur modems, isp and ur system when it comes to lag. obviosly the faster the system the less lag and lower ur latency(TO A CERTAIN POINT)
then it depends on ur ISP(Internet service provider) obviously the faster ur inernet is the faster the data is transfered.(AGAIN TO A CERTAIN POINT)
then it also depends on ut mobem and mabe the way ur conected. if ui got a modem that allows up 2 100mbs then thats ok, but if u got one that has 10mb/s then ull be struglling if u r playing a gd game in a LAN party. thats y u gota have minimum requirements there. also sometimes if ur connectde by wirs and crossover cables it can b fastr then WIFI or ur standernd pci slot and asdl router/splitter.
but then again this also depends on the game too, and many other factors.

what a monkey

band width & ping time are what you should be really thinking about?
