Nice list.

I learned my banshee skills from Snipe894 though. He is the best banshee driver in Halo 3. If you combine the kills on his many accounts he easily has more than the #1 person.

I find that it is usually not too difficult to get to the other side if you drop behind the cliff for most of the way, then boost to behind their base.It is absolutely impossible to go straight across the to their base without getting lasered, but with the cliff and some patience it can be done. Once you are there it isn't too difficult to nail the laserers and then move on to spawn splattering people.

Well, usually I'm playing ranked with all generals/brigs so more often than not the Banshee at your base is lasered before you even use it or before you even start to fly anywhere.

BTW, I watched your killtacular video, that was pretty awesome although I wonder what the hell the other team was thinking. lol

Thanks for posting this. I'm not very good in the banshee but I enjoy using it and always look wistfully at it.

We just need to instigate more elitism and Mythic shenanigans.

Yeah, I hate it when the enemy simply destroys the banshee, even though it is pretty smart on games where there is one at each base, but its worse on Sandtrap, where they have the same chance at it as you.

The other team in that video assumed that the bubble shield would protect them, and that because they had killed off my allies chopper nobody would splatter them. Also, I wasn't on their screen for long at all, if they had been paying attention, I would have only got one or two, but as it turned out, I got one of the most epic splatters of my life.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Haha, I had the opportunity to play against Reyk the other night, completely randomly matched up in Matchmaking in DLC Big Team. He won, big time, but I got in a coupla good shots :-D

I remember a game where I was against you, but it was heavies on Sandtrap, and you had a tank the whole time. I hijacked A Ghuta though, he was shocked when it happened. I promptly was destroyed by either a laser or a tank. Maybe it was the gauss hog though.

Call me Reach.

I have a question:

When a missile is locked on to you, is it best to pull back on both joysticks and reverse direction or should you just do evasive maneuvers?

I've seen this work a couple of times, but I don't know if it is the most effective way to dodge fire.

I've seen this work a couple of times, but I don't know if it is the most effective way to dodge fire.

The key to dodging the missile poo is to get a solid object (building, hill, rock) between you and them, which will cause them to harmlessly hit the rock leaving you free to dominate. It is important to keep moving at high speed, and move away from the enemy holding the pod. Warn your allies about it ASAP, and give them the location. If you see the guy holding it and he is facing toward you, run away. The only time you really stand a chance against the missile pod is when he is facing away from you, so you can blast him with fuel rod/plasma cannon combo, which is easy because he will be moving slowly; or if he is in a bubble shield, where his missiles are useless, but your splattomatic is not.

Heheh. I remember when I first started and tried to fly the banshee. I'd try to do the flips and rolls to dodge the missile pods and was only able to dodge them like half the time. Only later did I realize how much more effective the way Reyk describes is. One thing I have to add though is when you're above the enemy base on Valhalla and one grabs the pod and starts firing... circling around the spire while boosting works wonders. The missiles just crash into it and the player just wasted all his rounds.

If you want to practice flying around the map, just create a custom game, or maybe even play a forge game with regular settings so you can spawn new banshees and just get acustomed to the level, and all of the fastest ways around with the lowest altitude and lots of cover. If you want to practice against enemies, just play DLC BTB, and use it whenever you have the oportunity. Don't hog it, but just get in it when you can, even if it is heavies and you don't stand a chance. If you have any success on heavies, then it is great practice for when it is regular.

Once the banshee is destroyed, you can either try to help gain map/weapon control for your team, but you will probably want to let someone else on your team grab the laser. If there is a banshee behind the enemy base you might be able to sneak in and get it, or just try to kill off all of there anti vehicle weapons and vehicles to get map controll, so you do better on the next banshee respawn.

To take down an enemy, you can either splatter them if they are in the open and not looking towards you (or are in a bubble shield), but if they are looking/shooting you hit them with the fuel rod/plasma cannon combo. If you time it right, they will hit at about the same time for an instant kill. Watch out for players that are obviously in a place to be splattered but are paying attention to you, they most likely have plasma grenades to kill you with.

One odd thing I noticed was that there are no spike grenades on maps with banshees. odd.

At the moment, I have 2228 Banshee kills, putting me tied for 139th. (My old account got hacked, so I added the two.) Minus the boosters, because 5,000 Banshee kills is not legit, I would be in 111th place. Foman is currently in 93rd, but should be 65th.

I <3 the Banshee.

Putting the "pro" in procrastination since birth.

You inspired me to give the Banshee another try, Foman.

It should be noted that they are extremely difficult to keep alive during a game of 2 Flag Heavy for more than 30 seconds.
When I say extremely difficult, I really mean virtually impossible.

I disagree with you on not engaging early on Valhalla. The most important thing there is the laser. I always take my banshee and provide cover fire for my teammates getting the laser. If we have the laser, you don't have to worry about their banshee or hog. Missile pods are EASY to outmaneuver on Valhalla as well. On Valhalla, getting the laser is crucial. Once you do that, and you dodge their first missile pod, you're home free. The only thing you then have to worry about is not getting too close to the base when the next missile pod spawns so you can outmaneuver it.

I don't have many banshee kills, and I know I'm not the best by any means. But I think I am very good with a banshee on Valhalla. As for Sandtrap (with all the lasers you can't account for) and Avalanche (especially with that tank), I'm not that good. And heavies? There's no way. Flying to outmaneuver missile pods is very easy, but lasers are difficult. You don't always know where they're at, when they started their charge, etc.
