When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

On Valhalla, I seem to have a bit of trouble dog-fighting. It seems to be if the enemy banshee sees me first and lets loose with their plasma cannons at a distance, i'm done for, any tips for avoiding that?

Ah, a nice read. It's good to see good grammar is still alive here.

Quick question for you. My biggest issue with the Banshee on Valhalla is avoiding the missile pod. You won't always know where to go upon hearing that drading beeping noise. Do you have any tips as to how to get out of a sticky situation?

Thanks for the good read :-)
Valhalla is actually my favorite map for avoiding missile pods. You can't hear them, but in the "Vehicular Manslaughter" video in the first posts, I was fired at by missile pods several times, as well as in the "Early Kill Avoidance on Valhalla" video. At one point on the Vehicular Manslaughter video, you can see the Banshee dive into a grove of pine trees as a missile flies by. Use the rocks, trees, middle hill, and bases for cover, and stay low at all times -- if you are already low, rather than diving to try to get low as the missile pod is fired, the missiles are more likely to hit obstacles or the ground before they hit you. Good luck!

Bumper jumper pilots do not despair, it just takes time to get used to.

Excellent! I'll give that a try, and hopefully with some practice I'll start getting the hang of low-flying. Thanks for the tips! :-)

Maybe if I had orange txt I would have gotten a little more recognition for my Warthog Tips page. I spent a while on that one.

Between two accounts I have over 1000 wheelmans also. Well, thats ranked and social combined. My other gamertag is drunkensavior84. That was my beginner account.

Anyway, Nice job Foman.

With the missile pods is it easier to land the banshee in cover or to fly behind cover?, Foman.

Oh and with other banshees what are your tps on taking them out in a air fight, do you still fly low and risk being killed from the enemy banshee up high, or do you fly high and try to take out the enemy banshee while risking getting killed by lasers, missile pods etc? Thanks for the read Foman!

Oh and by the way, sorry for my off topic thread yesterday! :)

Absolutely -- communication and stealth are the key here. Stay low and hidden but in spots with good visibility. You can have your Banshee completely hidden behind a rock, but thanks to the 3rd-Person viewpoint in vehicles, still see most of the field. Make sure your teammates are communicating with you about when enemy Banshees are in the air. Avoid dogfights whenever and wherever possible -- not because you can't beat the other Banshee, but because when you're fighting an enemy Banshee, you are not able to pay attention to who is aiming at you with an anti-vehicle weapon from the ground. Let your teammates take care of enemy Banshees, just like in the "Early Kill Avoidance on Valhalla" video in the original post.

If you absolutely must engage in a dogfight, follow the tips in my original post about how to win and just keep practicing. Check out the "Hornet Dogfight" video for a demonstration :-D

Actually you can hear them. Seconds before impact you will hear what sounds like a swoosh right on your tail. Right when you hear that do a barrel roll (I always do one to the right) and hold the analog stick in the direction you are doing the barrel roll . This will make you do a complete turn-around and the missile will wrap around your banshee and go off into the distance and explode at a later time.
Another way to avoid missiles while they are chasing you is to fly and then stay behind one of the base's pillars. This will always (depending on where the missile was fired) result in the missile hitting the pillar.

banshees are cool but if the other team has half a mind even with those tactics, then your down, they just have to wait for you to be out in the open, distracted, then missile pod time.
Thats why i prefer BR + Snipe.

Nah, trust me. When using these strategies in an effective way, even against a great team, it's skill versus skill. The Banshee is quite balanced. And anyway, like I said -- a great Banshee pilot never gets caught out in the open!

At the same time, you're right -- I noted in my original posts that no Banshee pilot who is truly being effective for his team should expect to be the leader in kills in any particular game (although they could be in the top 3 positions easily). The Banshee, just like any other player or vehicle in the game, cannot survive an extended, concerted team effort to bring it down. But while the entire opposing team is concentrating on bringing down the Banshee, your team is capturing the objective or picking the other team off one-by-one to capture the win.

if they had impalas with mack-10s in halo
you could drive by and get a 50 in like an hour
you can laser the impala.but the shiny-ass chrome grill gonna send that laser back
che-yu-pc

this was definitely worth the long read, read both the original and the advanced techniques. the stay low tactic is something i never thought of, and seems to work really well. gonna play some forge to work on these strats and then take them to btb tonight. thanks foman. this was so helpful i feel i should pm duardo for each tip you gave me :)

Here is a situation I am normally confronted with when I decide to fly around.

My teammates manage to get the flag but then are killed for whatever reason. The opposing team throws down a bubble shield to assist them in recovering their flag. The tough decision here is do I go into the bubble shield where I can possibly splatter a good amount of them? Or do I stay out of the shield since there is a great risk of being stuck or jacked? If I do not go in the flag is recovered and my team needs to get the flag all over again. If I go in we lose a huge advantage.

How do you solve this little issue?

EDIT: O yea how do you lure people out of enclosed places such as the caves and bases on Valhalla?

A bubble shield out in the open is like an early birthday present -- players will not come out of it, even if they see you, for fear of being gunned down. Their only chance is a split-second lucky plasma grenade or rocket. If you hit the Bubble Shield at full speed in full boost, you are going to get a sweet splatter 9 times out of 10, and a super-lucky plasma grenade stick 1 time out of 10. For me it's totally

If the bubble shield is not out in the open or in a place where it is protected, such that you can't hit the bubble shield at full boost, don't bother with it. Let your team handle the people inside, and you prevent other enemies from getting near and assist your teammates when needed. Getting too close to anybody when you are not at full speed is dangerous, and it's especially dangerous when the enemy has a bubble shield to prevent gun kills.

EDIT: O yea how do you lure people out of enclosed places such as the caves and bases on Valhalla? You really don't need to -- go ahead and lob some fuel rod cannon shots in there as you pass by at high speed, but don't waste time hovering near caves and enclosed areas -- you'll catch a plasma grenade to the nose if you do. Instead, communicate with your teammates, prevent other enemies from entering the cave, and allow the other team to stay pinned down in the cave. Unless it's a game of oddball or something, a guy who is squatting in the cave is completely ineffective. Remember that it's not all about your own k/d ratio, but rather about achieving the win for your team!

My laser avoidance tip is to anticipate and predict the movement of the laser, and move with it for a second, banking in the opposite direction in a split so as to confuse the player with the laser.

Other than that, good tips! Banshee whoring (no offense =] ) has become an everyday thing for me, ever since the days of Halo 2.

Well, i'd just take the splazer into the dark corners of the map where the 'shee goes, and follow the 'shee. and if it's you, i'll grab the missle pod, splazer, and snipe and hide in the bottom of the base

Haha... well BTB is not about one-on-one challenges. If you're stealing all the power weapons and hiding in the bottom of the base, then whether or not you die, and whether or not the Banshee gets killed, the Banshee has succeeded in its goal of neutralizing your effectiveness against the other team, even if you do eventually manage to kill the Banshee itself.
