This is not a bad intro for newbies. Nice work. I wanted to add two things, tell me your thoughts. If you have missles on your tail, you can out run them for a short period if you turn with warning and keep thrusters on and stay generally straight. During this time you should be looking for either a way to loose them or cause them to run into something. The towers at both ends of vallhala and sandtrap can do this well in most circumstances if you time a side roll to the other side of the tower or behind it just right. In a team enviroment, remember that although we may all want MVP, the goal is the team win. Don't try to be the hero and get crazy splatters, you run the risk of being jacked or stuck when doing so. By staying high up, and simply using the fuel rail gun, and spraying fire you can damage enemy players making them easy for your teamates to pick off. Also a single beam rifle shot on a undamaged warthog or many vehicles alone is usually not enough for a kill, but it can be used to flip or make enemy players "scatter" to where your teamates are waiting to pick them off, or control direction of travel in a flag or assault game. Also (this is kinda funny) use team work to take advantage of a glitch: while being skyjacked, run your banshee by the ground into a wall, have team mate stick it. If your time it right, the jacker will try to pilot the bottom of the banshee without a cover, and be stuck on the everlasting hover raft, unable to hurt anyone untill he is killed by a merciful player.

Beans Are Friends, Not Food.
We have to kill animals or else they'll die.
Food chain and all that.
Question: Would you ever become a vegetarian?
Answer: God no, who on earth would eat a poor defenseless vegetable? An animal can at least defend itself.

I loves me some Banshee!

I've always been good at flying and killing banshees. That's all I used to do in Halo with my friends before we had live.

I'm not opinionated, I'm just always right.

I usually did pretty good in the olden days when I would go for the banshee whenever possible. But one problem I tend have is dealing with 2 or more anti-vehicle obstacles at once :P I can handle a enemy banshee, and splazer and/or missle pods, but when its any combination of ground to air weaponry and a banshee... I can never do it. Avoiding teh missles/lazer force me to almost ignore the banshee and if they are at all competent they usually destroy me easily, any tips for that? lol

Be aware of your surroundings, and you should normally try avoid putting yourself in that situation in the first place. However, when this happens use your maneuverability to hide behind an obstacle and call out for your teammates to give you support. Team shooting the Banshee is very affective.

It will be a cold day in hell when I allow smilies on Bungie.Net

In Halo 3: ODST, the Banshee is way better, but you only use it once, but in Halo 3, it sucks, but you use it uncountable times in Matchmaking and Custom Games :(

i skimmed the guide and it's awesome. but the highest priority target for the enemy team is whatever idiot's driving a mongoose. i can just get in a mongoose, drive off, and watch all the enemy team stop what they're doing to shoot me. of course that's why i do it. easy kills for my team mates and all that stuff, right?

I who walk alone in this world wrapped in the arms of the past not knowing what lies ahead of me. What am I? A soulless being to be beaten by the rage of those who hate me? Cutting my way past hopes and dreams. Sit in the window sill as I do every day and night resignations on my slate of who I am and what is left behind. Concealed in the words that chases my every thought. I who walk alone in this world…I am broken

I have read this about four months ago and i found that all the information that you have given is very effective thank you for the awsome write up!!

i like to do a near verticle back flip in the banshee then shoot at my target coming out of it.

i call this the backflip shot.

I just wonder how long it took to write all of that?

Im the guy that kills you with the laser. I learn a lot about banshee pilots just by watching how they roll. You guys love going for that thing on sandtrap. I usually time the shot so that the second your in the boarding animation my laser is hitting the ship, but still cant input commands. even if I dont get the kill the shee is junked for five min. Its def a kill horse when anti air weapons aren't available.

ooga booga boooh

These tips are ok, but I'm not too overly impressed. Good for amateurs, but anyone skilled enough can wreck a banshee.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

Tip:

Being Skyjacked: This does not work every time, but if you are being skyjacked, try going full speed at a wall, tree, tall structure that is at a 85-95 degree angle from the ground. The banshee will shatter into pieces from impact and you may save your own life and destroy the banshee for everyone (because if you cant have it, no one can right?). If you do it correctly, you will inflict very little damage to yourself and much more damage to the opponent. If unsuccessful, you will probably die from crashing damage followed by a boot served to your face.

Dogfight: To turn around pretty quickly and do a banshee trick to stall the person targeting you, do a backflip with the banshee while holding the right stick (default stick settings- turning stick) to the side and slowly roll the analog stick down from the side. Instead of turning, the pilot will perform a backflip and a spin at the same time which results in the pilot facing the other direction.

We're past words. It's time to let Smith and Wesson do the talkin'

Awesome strategy.

My main problem seems to be that when I go to splatter, I get jacked.

My other problem is shield preservation - how do you manage your shields?

Don't get shot.

If you do get shot, take cover until your shields recharge. Repeat.

well im a decent banshee pilot myself but u foman are the best pilot i ve ever met.i ve seriously didnt know the banshee could be so devastating.most people have the habit to fly high and slow and as u mentioned tey usually get lazered or podded.
also most people(including me in this case)stay above their target shooting and get targeted.my question is:u think i should shoot enemies in bursts and let my team kill them while they re weak and confuse or just go for the kill?????hope u ll answer me.great videos and feedback(btw the way u dodged the lazer on vid one was amazin)

I like Halo games, nuff said.

There's two people I know could use this: me, and I once single-handeldly killed a fully shielded and healthy banshee with an AR and BR after about 30 seconds.

Here's something I may have missed: Is there any particular way to determine where a missile pod is coming from? I've noted a lot that when I fly, it's either right in front of me... or I'll automatically assume it's directly behind me. But I like to roll to dodge the missiles when I think they're getting close, and whenever I pick the wrong side... eh.
If you cannot see the missiles, then the better option is to dive for cover and wait for the beeping to end. Be sure to keep some situational awareness so you generally know where the missile pods are coming from, which will give you a good idea of where to go for cover.

Waiting until you hear the whoosing sound of the missile pods to do a roll is a bit unreliable. Climbing for altitude can buy you some time, but you're still going to have to time a roll at just the right moment. The best and safest option when you can't see the missiles is always to stay low and fast, and dive behind cover ASAP.

ya i love dodging missiles... thanks for that realy usful bit... OOH! that gave me 3 ideas! (muahahahaha)

why hasn't bungie come out with a dog fight map yet anyway?
it sounds like a cool idea to me... w8... ow ya... sandbox exists... but still!
