i hope they didnt let that stupid nerd that dressed like a wussie marine in over me. I would wait outside fanfest for him and kick his ass.

The 50 people that won the lottery have been notified via e-mail, and currently Bungie is waiting for their confirmation replies.

As I understand it, there will be a waiting list again.

Making threats against other fans doesn't improve your chances, however.

Ha, that's my friend Qbix that you are talking about I belive. You may also recognize his name from his themes on the 7th Column that he designed: Legendary and H2. We used to play on a team together at tournaments. He's pretty good, but I can take him. Unfortunately I don't belive he will be attending the fanfest this year, but I may be wrong. You see, he has this thing about microsoft and .net passports. Paranoid bastard, hope he gets on with a fake name or something before Halo 2 comes out on live. I, on the otherhand, am attending, and will be happy to dole out some punishment to any takers. : P

Whatever happened to Qbix? His themes were the bomb and at one point I thought I heard he was working on some more and then -poof- he vanished. =(

And yes, as Shishka explained, the 50 names were drawn and emails were sent. I will be making a small stand by list once we finish with the confirmations. If people don't confirm by the deadline, they lose their spot and we'll pick more names.

And this is a FANFest... as in a Fest for FANS. I think it's pretty obvious that someone who dresses up as a character from Halo is one of the biggest fans out there. Who cares how good someone is at Halo. Honestly, with an attitude like that I'm not sure we'd want you at the event. =( Chill out. It's not a contest.

This year it was a random pick though, so it all came down to luck of the draw and how fast you signed up.

its just thata with the media coverage we had last year i hope to make bungie and halo 2 a "cool" thing. It sucks that when people watch stuff they see all these lonely nerds playing halo drssing like freaks. Remember that kid who wore a skirt last year? We should have big names at the fanfest too, like rappers and sports stars so that people think that the halo community is elite, something you want to be part of... make it so that women want to hav sex with us... just kidding.
One thing that gets me is that most people that sign up are so far away that they wont be attanding, it happened last year. I think some 50 poeple didnt show- thats a lot. it s not fair to the locals who can attend and live the fanfest experience for the geogrphically challenged.

Everytime something I loved has been endorsed by a athlete or celebrity I've died a little inside. Leave the games to the gamers and "nerds." I don't want snoop dogg, or god forbid Linkin park (tee hee) getting first play or endorsing something just because they are famous. Games seem to become more successful when actual players vouche for them instead of celebs.

Edit: Opps, he was kidding. Give the nerds a break though.

The thing that makes Fanfest cool is that it's Bungie meeting its fans and having a good time, because they want to meet gamers with like minds and hang out. It's not a publicity stunt. In fact, this is only the second or so Fanfest that's actually been run by Bungie, Fanfest started as an event run by fans that Bungie made appearances to.

Media coverage, celebrities and whatnot is exactly the opposite of everything the Fanfest represents. Perhaps you should stick to watching the Spike Video Game Awards.

Qbix would understand that, I think.

We're a fan community for a video game. There's an inherent level of geek in order to even be a part of this community. There's nothing wrong with that. In fact, there's nothing wrong with showing your spirit, too, which is exactly what Qbix did. And personally, I think it was cool that he was brave enough to do such a thing. Much cooler, anyway, than trying to warp the view of a fan community so you can justify it to other that might think you're a geek.

One thing that gets me is that most people that sign up are so far away that they wont be attanding, it happened last year. I think some 50 poeple didnt show- thats a lot. it s not fair to the locals who can attend and live the fanfest experience for the geogrphically challenged.

And saying "Oh, but it's okay to come if you live in LA" is not fair to the people all over the world that'd love to attend the fanfest but can't because registration is full. The registration wasn't based on geographic proximity to the event because that is an unfair way of deciding who can come. It sucks that registration has to be limited at all, but that unfortunately is just the way it is.

Geography has nothing to do with it. If you are a fan and part of this community, you have a right to attend. I live in Arizona and will have to drive 5 hours to go to this thing. I am really excited about it. My family lives in SoCal and I make that trip quite a few times each year. What it boils down to is, if you wanted to go and could find the means to go, then you signed up. As far as I can tell, this lottery only gets you into the fanfest. You have to get there on your own. It's not some all inclusive trip to the Bahamas given away on the television. To me it says a lot if someone would take a trip to attend this function.

See you there.

P.S. I've been known to dress up on occasion. *cough(Jedi)cough* I don't own a Bungie costume though.

That's pretty far but it won't be the furthest Doublefire. I think some guy came from Italy last year. Now that's dedication! Anyways Sketch, Qbix is pretty busy with his job and stuff. He designs virtual walkthroughs in Flash for real estate developers in Orange County. He's also pretty anti-microsoft and doesn't really want to get onto the passport system. He'll probably come around once Halo 2 comes out I'd suspect. If you want to give him a message or something just let me know and I'll relay it to him. I'm sure he'd be happy to know that so many people remember him here. Especially in the ivory towers at Bungie!
