Our ongoing Halo 2 grudge match continued yesterday but I never got a chance to come online and brag..er...talk about what a great game it was.
So, as you know, Frankie and I have been battling it out for some time now. Despite many close calls, Frankie hasn't quite managed to walk away with a victory.
Yesterday we fired up a slayer match on a map that hasn't been revealed yet - 20 kills to win. This is a map we've both been playing a lot of so it's fair to say the playing field is level. We both know where the weapons spawn and where you don't want to linger too long.
The match got off to a quick start with Frankie taking an early lead. I found myself in a strange position, not being used to playing from behind. In fact, Frankie would go on to lead the match for about 2/3 of the game. I think I was down 0-4 before I got my first kill. I eventually learned the source of Frankie's power - an obsession with the rocket launcher. It turns out his tactics were very effective as he blasted me time and time again. Unfortunately the rocket also has a downside - the increased risk of splash damage. For one reason or another, things started to turn and before I knew it I was back in striking distance thanks in most part to Frankie commiting several devastating suicides.
In all our games prior, Frankie may have had one or two suicides in a game... Yesterday, after he took the lead and had the finish line in site, luck was against him and he incurred upwards of 5 suicides. This would prove to be his downfall and I was able to sneak back into the lead and finally close out the match with a score of 20-17.
It was a great match, and the closest one yet. The pressure just keeps getting stronger as my undefeated record is put on the line.
Will Frankie rise up and strike me down? Per the poll in the voting booth, it seems the majority of you think Frankie should either screen look or just give up entirely. Stay tuned, we'll continue to keep you up to date with the ongoing grudge match. When and if he wins, I'm sure you're going to hear a lot about it. =)
