I much prefer the CE flood. Basically what they did for H2 was turn the tables. In CE (legendary) you knew the best way to defeat them was to be patient and backtrack with the shotty as the best weapon to immediately slow down anything up to 4 flood rushing you (at least stun them all) and either an AR or Pistol for distance work. They changed that in H2 so that if you did just that strategy, the flood with the shields would kill you before your very watered down shotty could take them out (and the lack of overall shotty ammo became a serious problem). In 2, the weapons of choice became a distance weapon like a BR or Carbine (headshots now actually do something) and the sword for close in work.
The biggest challenges to dealing with the H2 flood are:
Headshots were difficult due to their motion, you got to take out one or two in a group from a distance, then they started their weird movements and headshots are luck...
The stalking motion/animation was so much more radically herky jerky that it was never a guarantee you were actually going to land your shots/sword lunges..
The limited charge of the sword makes it much less effective to hold onto, and they are not as plentiful as the old shotty round were. You really need to make harder choices regarding when to use the sword...
The flood maps do not allow for nearly as much strategic backtracking as GS 343 and The Library did, there are alot more chokepoints and places to get completely trapped. Trying certain maps without Envy are just annoying!
I really enjoy battling the flood in CE, whereas in 2 they really are a nuisance (granted, a deadly one!). The addition of combat forms wielding rocket launchers, driving ghosts, scorpions and warthogs is a nice touch, but with skulls and legendary, it could be just darn near impossible to kill them rather than run from/through them. I personally prefer killing them!
