I am wondering if any of the Bungie Devs are authorized to say whether the Human Pistol is going to be in Halo 2, or whether it will only be used in Multi, ect. If so please respond. Also if any members of the forum know the answer to that question please post here, and please tell me where you found the information out from (and if you can give me a link).

Well, the Human pistol has changed, according to First Strike, it loses the scope, has a smaller clip a slower fire rate, but a MUCH higher power. I would assume that it would be in both modes, as it was the second or third most poplar weapon in Halo 1

In my new GI mag: Bungie ran an Alpha test for Halo 2 on X-Box live, and the battle rifle replaced the pistol.

i seriously doubt that, as In many many places it says that all tests will be conducted within the confines of Bungie and nowhere else. Also in First Strike (and bungie.net amongst other places), it says that the Battle rifle is an evolved version of the MA5B assault rifle. In fact it was the original Assault rifle in the early screens of Halo.

They selected only 1000 Microsoft employees. Just read the d@mn mag.

Yes but it also said in OXM that all the old weapons are returning. Including the MA5B and pistol. Plus the rifle and pistol have not changed at all. Those guns mentioned in First Strike were prototypes, not official replacements. Try reading more carefully. On top of that think about this.

At the end of First Strike it was September. Those battle rifles were brand new as were the SMGs and that new pistol. The UNSC still has a big military presence. There is no possible way that every single MA5B and M6D can possibly be replaced by the new weapons. You can't just do that with that large of a military. Certain units may get it, but not everyone will. So you still have plenty of MA5Bs and M6Ds running around. plus why get rid of two perfectly good weapons?

Especailly when the Covenant are attacking in about a week's time! Please answer that one.

It was already said by either Bungie or some magazine that ALL of the original weapons will be in Halo 2. And whoever it was talking about the gun(s) in first strike, they aren't talking aobut the Pistol, they were probably talking about the SMG's and Battle Rifles since those are probably the only guns Bungie would let them talk about. If you go back and carefully read it, it even says something on the lines of this: went to a weapons locker and pulled out two weapons that were still being tested. Further along it says that it was unbalanced when not loaded. If you take a look at the pistol, the handle is centered in the gun, so it will be balanced, whether loaded or not.

All that the WidowMkr is saying is that in the Alpha test for Halo 2 over X-Box live, (only 1000 Microsoft employees were selected, and had to return the test disks) which lasted only five weeks THE PISTOL WAS NOT IN IT, IT WAS REPLACED BY THE BATTLE RIFLE. To find out why, I suggest you consult Bungie.

Thanks for the information... but I have conflicting views now:

Either
a) The pistol is modified to have a smaller clip, no scope and more fire-power
b) It is no longer in multi-player, and will only appear in the single campaign
or c) it is exactly as it was in Halo 1 (but probably a little more rare)

they git rid of the pistol i'll be pissed and if they git rid of the scope i'll be pissed because i could take some out across the map in blood gulth in about as much time it took to shoot three bullets i belive that the md6 is more powerful slower shooter and no zoom while double wielding as it will be in both on line and multiplayer and campain

This is exactly why its not going to be around, and i salute bungie if they take the little bugger out.

I think that the pistol is definitly going to be in Halo 2 without any modifications, unless it looks better or some small modification. They would never take out the scope because that is what makes it so effective and without it its just a little pistol that has some power, but only 12 rounds.

The pistol had to be the only gun that really was somewhat unbalanced and pissed me off. That thing could shoot across the width of blood gulchand kill in 3 shots..2 to the head. The zoom made me even more pissed. How do u avoid someone firing out you especially if there semi clicking making it impossible to dodge.

Yea I agree with you Havoc I don't like being shot at with it because it is almost impossible to escape but then I also used it a lot. It was really unfare if you were going up against someone else without it, (unless you know, sniper or something) but it made the whole game a pistols only style match. I also like the AR but impossible to use against the pistols.

The AR was cool but it was too weak and inaccurate, even with short burst. I hope they fix this and bring it back in H2 because fully automatic fire is awesome.

The pistol on the other hand was the opposite of the AR and was too strong. That never made sense to me. A pistol stronger than a rifle? At long distances too? Also, where on the pistol was the scope? That thing was so stupid looking. It had a functioning scope, but looking at the gun, it really wasn't mounted with a scope. what gave?

Here is what bungie needs to do. Bring back that 357 magnum looking gun from "the making of halo" and then balance it within the game. Then it willl look good and be fair.

Yea that is something that made me wonder too because the whole pistol schooling a riffle was interesting. Like I said I cant wait for Halo 2 and the new AR looks as if it will kick some serious butt, I cant wait to use it. But hey Tartarus you know how good it feels to kill someone with the AR from Halo 1, especially when they are using a shotgun in a inclosed environment :) Just gotta keep your distance, jump a lot, and pray.

Heres my view...

The pistol will probably not have a scope on it, despite the fact that I will miss my sidearm as much as I'd miss my leftarm. WHY? It is simple:
It is a matter of balancing out gameplay. The battle rifle will quite possibly replace the pistol. It has the same 2x zoom property, and packs more punch than a regular old M6D. But I'm sure all the old pistol users will fall in love with the battle rifle. If the old pistol is replaced by the one in the First Strike novel, or if it remains the same, I really won't care; I just want HALO 2 to be the way Bungie designed it: Perfectly balanced and as addicting, if not more than, the original.

Viper,
I don't think that the AR was any better than the shotgun from a distance, Its probably worse at a distance. If anything the shotgun is probably better at a distance. The only place its easy to kill with an AR is up close. Still, if they have a shotgun in the close quarters, you're out gunned again.

Still, if jumping works for you then thats cool. You ought to feel good if you get AR kills like that. I never rely on it though. It pick a pistol or shotgun over the AR any time in multi.

If you guys are still confused then go to the forum I sent somewhere between pages 4-6 and the title is "NEW PISTOL?". It gives you a full description in that topic about the new pistol.

I dont understand why they would have a battlerifle and a pistol, the only difference is a battle rifle is 2 handed, they both have a scope, they both shoot similar speeds and there both strong so I wonder why they would have a pistol too, specially if they allowed you to duel wield a pistol, can you imagine looking in 2 scopes at the same time?
