bah

There should be a forum specifically for threads that simpliy should not ever die, but have outlived their current usefulness. Mainly threads that new people really ought to see. I hate to toot my own horn, but two excellent... wait. I LOVE to toot my own horn, and two excellent examples are my post in New Mambosa and my post in the Underground. The post in New Mambosa has out-lived it's current usefulness, and is, in my opinion, taking up valuable space. But I cannot help but feel that the instant it comes down, somenew guy will come on and ask for links to movies. The post in New mambosa really should be re-done, but I lack the connection speed to check all the links. It was meant to be up for a week, maybe two, after E3, but it has obviously helped hundreds of people find what they were looking for.

My thread in the Underground is a great example of this kind of thread. It's actually a re-make of my older one. I tweaked it up to include more helpful info and some FAQs too. This post will be good for another week maybe, but then everyone will have heard about it and only new people would be interested. It would be sweet to have a home for these threads, as I'm sure many have already been lost.

2 more examples (just to show it's not all me me me) are Bungie's quick Halo CE FAQ and Enabling the console, how to kick/ban, use rcon, and listing of commands both in the Maw. Both of these posts were grwat enough to be stikied, and wil continue to be great posts forever, but after a while, they just take up space as hardly anyone uses them anymore.

When the new hotness comes for the 7th Column, and if my chapter is ever approved, and Bungie doesn't do something about these great posts, I call dibs on the database for them.

Doesn't sound so bad

But an entire forum?

An entire forum would be too much. It's fine the way it is if you ask me.

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

Hah! You're a funny one, Rip.

I'm certifiable.

Strange how the idea got brought up in my favourite thread. (Scroll down about halfway, to 5/17/2004 5:57 AM.) Though I'm slighly biased...

-- Steve thinks it'd be a cool idea, even if that thread isn't in it.

bah

Well then, if a whole forum is too much, I call dibs on it as a database in my chapter. I've already started the process of making the database on my computer so it will be all ready.
