When I first got Halo PC, I installed my copy to my hardrive. However, now I want to put it on a network so that my friends and I can have some LAN games when we are all on. The problem though, is that when I went to install it again, it only gave me the option to install to the C Drive. Does anyone know of a way to install it to a network? I'm fairly sure that it's possible...

Unless it's on a network. In which case it can be accessed by multiple computers at once.

Do you mean using a file server with the game installed? That won't work! Games need to be installed on the actual system hard drives of each system, because they need to be configured and such, added to the registry...

I've never heard of sharing one exe game file on a file server for a LAN.

I have. I've used other games on networks for LAN games. Unreal Tournament and the Marathon series for example.

Heyyo,

It can work, but it's hella slow.. usually it helps if the comps are the same, otherwise sometimes the games freak out. We were using Imacs, so there were no discrepency's between them. Well, what you can do is install it on your comp, and cut & paste it into some network space, n' then edit your registry's to its new network path.. should do the job. ;)

for doing the registry:

start > run > regedit

search for: halo

should actually be under:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\MICROSOFT GAMES\HALO]

and yep, mod the path n' it should be fine. ;)

might wanna do further searches for the uninstaller too..

Well, ah... you see... I'm not sure how to use regedit to mod the path... just a bit more help please? I'll be out of your hair soon. Thanks.
