The Special Ops. Elites are now white instead of black like in Halo 1. Why the change? Could there still be any black Elites left? Any thoughts?

In the Truth and Reconcilation there are many corridors which end in these small round rooms, which have other corridors leading out of them. In one of these rooms, is an invisibile elite. I killed it, and it turned out the same color as that Elite that we saw in the pics. It had some blue on it, but was mostly silvery - white. So, as far as im concerned, they exist in the first Halo as well.

Perhaps there has been an advance in Covenant Stealth technology. Maybe now they have the capability to engage their stealth cloaks while their shields are up. Of course, seeing how the higher ranked Elites get more powerful shields, limiting this new technology to their special ops groups is perfectly logical.

In that respect, the White Armour could be ceremonial while still allowing them to perform their special ops functions.

You can bet that it's also a slap in the face that a white armoured Elite can sneak up on you in the dark.

Wow I never realized that.

I prefer the Special Ops being black. I think they are still in halo 2 though. tp me the white ones are simply another varient like a sub group of an organization, maybe they specialize in more of a certain field.
in either case i prefer special ops being black. they were more imposing and struck me with fear every time i saw them, moreso than gold due to their excellent grenade abilities.
i hope black elites will still maintain the dignity that they deserve

I prefer them black as well but I had to come up with a good reason.

Still, even then I'd be more scared of those Black Special Op's elites. Those grenades are ridiculously accurate. I can always spray an area with SMG fire and reveal an invisible opponent.

Oh, now i realize why tex, being in the special forces, has black armor! it was inspired by the spec ops elites!

Dunno if they changed it or not. In OXM they showed MC as white and said it was his take on the special-ops color. But the elites might still be black.

The Spec Ops Covenant force shouldve stayed with black instead of white (if this is true). Black is way more "Spec Opy" than white. But is the color change the smae for the Grunt's Spec Op force or just the Elite's force.. wait what am I saying the Spec Ops all have to have the same color .. righhhht?

Maybe they are white so that they can kick your ass in snowy terrain. Real camo can be just as effective as Active Camo.

i'm positive that black will remain. there were black elites in the e3 2k3 demo, weren't there? maybe, like someone said, white is just ceremonial armour, or, perhaps, white is the imperial guards armour, and the imperial guards are a special, elite branch of the spec ops forces

Not really bothered actually. It would make more sense for there armour to be black, but they might change it i.e. different types of camouflage for different scenario's (snow=white, black=just about everything else) The reason I say this is because of the snow-hog. 1 level must be majorly snowy!! More than AotCR even maybe.

Chew on this the black spec ops elites were first used to neutralize the flood from the truth an reconcialtion. Maybe the whites have their own purpose.

In the E3 Halo 2 2003 demo, there were black Special Ops. Elites.

i think the spec. ops. elites that are white are the badest of the best. they dont go on regular missions like the black spec. ops. go on. i think they are only sent in to action when are summond by the prophets to go on holy missions and they need 100% victory so they send in the white(white being a holy color)elite when nothing less than victory is acceptible. thats my speculation

I believe it was a mistake on OXMs part because as someone said earlier in the E3 2K3 demo the black elites were refered to as Spec Ops Elites and also in the Covenant Primer it says black colored Elites are Special Forces and that white colored ones are Stealth Elites I will take Bungie's word to a magazine's word esp since back in 2002 Edge said that there would be three way battles between the Humans, the Covenant and a new race the Brutes! So obviously jut cause it's in a magazine doesn't mean it's true.

i agree. like i said above, i think they're the biggest, badest of the spec ops elites, and have been assigned to the imperial guard
