The SI stuff was to preceed the release of information concerning Bungie's next game based in the Halo universe. The reveal was delayed by Microsoft, who promised to create a dedicated event in the future for revealing the new game.
It is logical to assume that if the Super Intendant has popped up again that we can expect information soon about the new Halo game.
In reviewing the post, I believe the story is that the Super Intendant's core systems have been corrupted. This has left the SI unable to communicate normally. It would appear the SI is attempting to communicate using lower level subsytems. If we think of the SI as an AI in charge of organizing municpal services then the statements themselves appear to be the type messages that he would display on public notices. If we then think of the SI's communications in terms of abstract concepts, rather than direct statements, and we might be able to get a general idea of the warning he's trying to communicate.
...what? You lost me by the last paragraph...@_@Imagine an AI that's in charge of making sure the roads stay clean and repaired, the water keeps flowing and the waste gets removed. He organizes the machines that repair the citie's infrastructure. To do this he must communicate with the other government and AI.
Now, imagine that something terrible has happened to his city. Like, an alien ship crash landed near by filled with flood. The crash took out the other AI that were higher in the command chain than him and damaged a large number of the systems that run his processes. Kind of like a person having a stroke, he's no longer able to communicate properly.
However, being the only AI still left functioning at any level, it's up to him to communicate with the military to inform them of what has happened and keep them up to date on what's going on in the city.
He's contacted the UNSC and is attempting to warn them and give them a status update of the conditions in the city, except that he's not able to just come out and have a normal converstation because the parts of his brain that control those functions are damaged or destroyed. Instead, he has to attempt to communicate using systems that are meant to inform the local city population if there's road work being performed or similar activity.
As a result, he can't say, "the city's been mostly destroyed" so instead he uses a lower system that was used to inform commuters when road work was being performed. He says, "Pardon our dust." This was a simple substystem that he previously used to display notices on signs around the city....except now, it's the only communication subsystem that he has functioning.
That's what I was trying to say.
