you should get Halo PC as it is way better then Halo 2 Vista in which you can play games for free will work fine on any up to date computer and does require vista. and you can also download a free expansion pack known as Halo Custom Edition from sites such as Halo Maps. plus once you download the update for both games you wont need the cd but still keep it and the cd key in casse of an emergency. best getting Halo 2 Xbox.

If you have Vista get both. Why not? If you dont have Vista Halo 1 is good enough and with the custom edition add on its awesome. Either way its a fun game

Campiagn Kill Count :31,745. And growing.

The Revisionaries- One of the greatest screenshot groups on B.net. With 250 members and growing.

I made this exact same thread not long ago and Halo PC won. Look furthur down the page.

You never get to play Halo 1 online unless you have Halo PC, and Halo custom edition is complete win.

Freedom has two parts: potential and resolution; as metaphors have two parts : form and interpretation; of course, the two are intertwined. Metaphor lines the road to freedom, as symbols and words are the bricks and mortar of meaning. Freedom being the briocoleus, the mason.

I have both, the only thing close to decent in H2PC ( i refuse to call it Halo 2 Vista) is the single campaign, a mate bough H2PC recently and said there isnt pretty much any servers still running for it (as its basically crap online). textures in single is alo wacked aswell as balance in difficulty - storyline is okey though.

Reasons for getting Halo PC
Maybe the best balanced game that has been done (its right up there with Quake 1).
Map layout is close to brilliant (only 2 maps arent top notch).
Playability - Spent 15k+ hours, (most of any FPS ive played, ive played more then a few).
Online gaming - There are still some server running, it aint that many but on an average day you will have 2-5 decent servers full (EU).
Gaming history - Halo PC is a game that has made some impact, it started the search that GoW (Gears of War) has picke dup - virtual couch and single player in dual player mode.
The only disadvantage is that its quite old so alot of players have stopped playing it, and there arent alot of ladder games and cups (there is a CB cup comoing up this month though).

Thinking of something witty to write here since 2004...

The only problem with Halo PC is the netcodes a bit shaggy. As a result, there's quite a bit of lag and you'll have to lead your shots quite a bit. Annoying at first but after a couple of weeks you'll get used to it.

Use the Forge Luke

I have had my copy for years now but I suggest you get the portable edition after you buy it of course because it has way more full servers. I like halo 2 vista but if it weren't for the half-ass port job(this is leaving the whole vista-only and high requirements) I would have loved it more. The multiplayer still rocks but no one to play it with online. It's free but the only way you cna play full games is if other friends of yours have it. I suggest waiting a few years and it'll be obsolete by then and run on any barebone pcs by then.

I honestly think that Halo 2 for PC is better than Halo:CE, if not for anything else, the amount of varied game play in Halo 2. I know all of you H2PC haters will not like that, but I think that the best choice is H2. It really depends on your OS, because H2 is for Vista only, except for the patch for XP, but H:CE doesn't work that well on Vista. There are frame rate issues all over when playing H:CE on a Vista. Online wise, If you like a very direct run and gun game play, I think that Halo 1 is better for that, because there are less options for random things like luck to interfere, plus Halo 1 has over 10 times the amount of servers. Halo 2 online is more varied, however, with many factors altering game play, like how lucky you are with and Energy Sword. Campaign wise, again, if you like direct run and gun, go for Halo 1, but if you want for varied play, where strategy and planning can deeply affect the outcome, go for Halo 2.
