yeah i think so, i dont know the particulars... the spartan 3's did have a 100% fatality rate for sure tho.

Not so. Many of the companys did, but not all SIIIs are dead. Two, Tom and I forget the girls name, survive the attack on the Covenant Factory on the Outer Rims and come back as Personal Aides to the Spartan II (Kurt is it?) who commanded the SIII program on Onyx. Those two survived by escaping into the Dyson Sphere with Dr. Halsey, though nothing else is known of them.

And I can't find any links between the Halopedia Admiral information and this, except that Admiral Freemont was the Sector One Commander. Sector One = S1?

I don't remember what book (or maybe the uprising series) it was mentioned in. But it referred to Johnson specifically as a "1" in the context of "they never let a 1 get so close to one of the 2's" when he was around the chief.

But its quite clear that the "Pardon our Dust" post is referring to section 1. Its possible that the NCO's he mentions would include Sgt Johnson. (NCO's = Sergeants, Chiefs...etc)

This is of course just wild speculation on my part, but i think its interesting to think about.

Going from the halopedia link on Admirals it is apparent that the Admiral heading Section 1 was Roland Freemont.

From his bio:

In 2552, when the Covenant attacked Reach, he sent a signal to all of these systems demanding immediate recall of all vessels to Reach because a Fleet of some 300+ Covenant vessels had entered the system. He was presumed killed when the Covenant destroyed FLEETCOM HQ. He also ordered the Cole Protocol to be issued immediately for all vessels and stations in the area

Note: PRESUMED dead. However, this gives a solid basis if we're going with the idea that this is a prequel because Freemont was:
1. Admiral
2. At Reach (reach = pre-Halo 1)
3. Issued the Cole Protocol

I also think that Fleetcom HQ was under heavy duress from Covenant forces during the battle for Reach. I cannot remember if it was glassed or infantry assaulted however.

*edit confirmed, Fleetcom HQ assaulted by infantry and armor*

It was the Covenant's first target when they invaded Reach, and on about 0555 hours, they overran the UNSC Marine Corps perimeter with Banshees, Wraiths, and thousands of infantry, and the attacked the armory building, effectively neutralizing effective UNSC space tactical coordination of Reach's defense.

Infantry seems more likely considering the casualty rate for glass bombardments. Remember that it is only assumed that he perished as everyone's whereabouts were not exactly known during the battle.

Incorrect, the Halo Wiki states Freemont is in charge of SECTOR 1, not SECTION 1. They could be linked, but I think it is more likely that they aren't. S1 could mean Sector or Section 1.

Ah too true, time to look more deeply.

Edit:

They COULD be related. Note that the hierarchy is as follows:
HIGHCOM -> FLEETCOM -> (Various Branches of FLEETCOM)

Where ONI falls under the Navy Fleetcom branch under the sub category [Special Operations Command]

An ombudsman (English plural: conventionally ombudsmen) is an official, usually (but not always) appointed by the government or by parliament, who is charged with representing the interests of the public by investigating and addressing complaints reported by individual citizens

thats what I found on that i dont understand why it says "in" in a box but then it says out right next to it

The In is easy. Its like a shop being open. It means that someone who is there to take the publics opinions and/or views is in. I think. But how do we get to him/her?

Sorry for double post, I just did a search of bungie.net and the Ombudsman piece of paper has come up before, on the 17th of the 7th.

Link to the thread discussing it.

[SMN.ACTUAL]: “Ready the MAC, and come about!” MAC(The Magnetic Accelerator Cannon, also known as Mass Accelerator Cannon, or the MAC gun or MAC cannon, is a large coilgun that serves as the primary offensive weapon for UNSC warships.) we need to find which warships had one of these weapons on them, and narrow it down from there

Hey Spartan, most of the UNSC Fleet had MACs. Frigates did, Destroyers did, Cruisers and Heavy Cruisers did, Carriers did, and there were stationary platforms which fired a higher calibre slug called MAC Platforms.

Halopedia seems to suggest that any size ship could theoretically mount MAC guns; with size scaling to the chassis size.

Soo... That doesn't help us much.

  • 09.23.2008 9:32 AM PDT

ok, that a lot of ships

I think the best direction now is the Bungie Webcams with that bit of paper about the Ombudsman being in.

Be that as it may, I found another little tidbit I'm not sure has been mentioned yet:
http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Margaret_O._Parangosky

ONI Admiral/Vice-Admiral during Kurt's operations on Onyx with the Spartan III's

Who said the Admiral in the transmission had to be a man?

with that, i'm off to class hope to see some good theories later

  • 09.23.2008 9:43 AM PDT

do we have anyway of contacting the said ombudsman?

I actually believe it to be Admiral Stanforth, frankly. Then Lieutenant Keyes was one of his officers on board his ship, so the lieutenant could have been Keyes. Halsey took a liking to Keyes, and chose him. Maybe she was calling him in. Just throwing it out there.

Precisely, who said the ADMIRAL.
Parangosky is VICE ADMIRAL. Therefore, she can be ruled out.
Sorry to be so blunt. =/

Spartan, that paper last popped up in relation to the SI if you read the thread. Apparently they also put a bottle there, but withdrew the bottle for no reason. This was around the time of the SI sightings i think.

even though she was a vice admiral they were all referred as just admirals

Well now at least we know it takes place in the halo universe, due to the reference to the MAC gun.

It must explaine something to do with an expansion to campaing or just a hype of to the new maps, like what they did with Cold Storage.
