Good point and well spotted. Maybe the campaign levels each have a multiplayer map based on them?
Or maybe there really are skulls on multiplayer maps, but I just can't see Bungie breaking with tradition like that, especially when we have strong evidence that there is an additional single-player campaign on the way.
I'm not saying I know one way or the other, I'm just speculating here.
EDIT: Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think you're right, Flames. The flaw in my logic has been assuming that the new achievements have something to do with the new game/expansion that was announced this morning.
The truth is that there is no evidence for that other than skulls, which have been traditionally associated with campaign levels.
However, there is an achievement for getting all the skulls on the Mythic maps, which I think we can all agree are six new MP maps. Thus, the skulls are on MP maps after all.
The other piece of evidence that points to this is that there are 750 new achievement points, and with Mythic there will have been three map packs. Developers are allowed to add 250 points per expansion pack, so the new achievements are dedicated to the Heroic, Legendary and Mythic map packs (3 x 250 = 750) and the fourth expansion involving the ODST campaign will presumably have its own set of achievements, bringing the total up to 2000 for Halo 3 overall.
