why is everyone crying about comics? just get somoene in with decent drawings skills who is a pretty funny bloke to just draw amusing pictures of MC - maybe he could create a scenario where MC loses the armour nearest his roger samuels the fourth of cirmbleby ( winnk wink nudge nudge ducking and diving) - think how un sub standard that would be fellas.

I posed this same question in my chapter, but Sketch suggested I bring it here and open it up. Do yo have an opinion on the subject?

I haven't been keeping tabs on the comic industry in the last ten years. The trends may have changed, and I'm sure there are newer, cooler artists out there than those I listed in the poll. Have you got a favorite? Why is that artist's work your favorite?

I really want to see something that can stand on its own merits and outlast the game that would be Halo 2. Something with a beginning and an end. Is that too much to ask? If money was not an issue, who would you hire? What kind of story would it be? Not what is in it, but what kind? Ten years from now, would you still keep this book? Even though you are burnt out of playing the game, or maybe you finally have kids and a family and you decide to do a clean sweep of your home. Would this book end up in the toss pile? Or would it at least go in the sell pile?

What would it be about a comic book that will make you keep it, share it with your friends, or even your progeny?

Cheers!

This is only my second post here but I know my comics, Garth Ennis (writer), he can write good war stories, which is what Halo is all about, not sure about the art, but it would have to be someone who has done science fiction and could handle detail. But a Halo comic gets my vote

Maus.
That makes a good comic. Its a true story from of the holocaust, from the perspective of a jewish man. But its told in an interesting way, the jews are mice, the -blam!-s cats, and the americans dogs. The narrative has a fantastic way of jumping around, as the story is told directly to the comic book artist (speigalman(sp?)) who is interviewing his father who was incarcerated in the camps. The narrative jumps around, as a story is actually told, full of distractions that are emphasised as the story is being told by an elderly man. Finally the beautiful juxtaposition of 'cute' imagery such as mice at cats with the harsh reality of what actually happened and some of the scenes. In all, its breath taking.

...Also.... I love the big ass kicking robots!

the best person that I can think of to be the artistic creator of a comic would have to be the creator of spawn. Even his figurines are just so beautiful, (yes I said beautiful). That would make the true fans of Bungie satisfied. Kudoes to Joy Ride for the work they do on the figures but I would hand the torch to someone who can really bring out the visual power of halo in a comic and figurine.

Tell me what you think and if anyone else agrees.

I think that the Halo comic book would have to be done by no other than Todd McFarlane. If he used the HellSpawn drawing style, then I would pay top price for just one comic.

Id have to say for now none of these guys. While I think Masamune Shirow would be awesome I think that any realistic possibility of that is slim to none without a bucket load of money. I do think a more realistic person would be J. Axer. He puts so much detail into his work it's utterly sickening. Also with his style I think he'd be absolutely perfect for a Halo comic. I dunno what kinda story it would be. But all I know is Axer would be great for this.
