personally, id have to say the guy who did the Alien vs. Predator series would have to be the one to draw it. And this is a little off topic but hey ive been pondering it: If you know American McGee's Alice, wouldnt you love to see a Peter Pan movie made in the same way? It would be the only tolerable thing around.

All i want to know is, has anybody online done a serious halo comic yet. All i've seen are stupid one liners and sprite comics. I'm not saying they're bad or anything, somtimes they can be better then any serious comic. But Has there been any attempt of a serious halo comic yet because me and red are planning a few things and this may be one of them.

i dont really care who makes it as long as it good.
..halo comic ..but i think you cant express the same art as you would in a movie.
how would the characters look if they were cartoonish?...they would be good for a funny comic though

No... it's a different kind of art. You need three people (or maybe one or two who can take care of every job) for a successful comic book: the writer, the penciler, and the inker.

The writer is the most important, because no matter how well a story might be drawn, if the story sucks and the dialogue sounds completely forced and fake, the whole thig goes down the tubes.

Any art that gets added in has to compliment the story. It's the penciler's job to take the reader and place him (or her) into the action. One of the worst things to happen to a comic is to have a great or fairly good story ruined because the horrible drawing pulls the reader's attention away from the script. It's gotta look good or else people won't buy it.

The inker is also very important, because he (or she) is responsible for setting the mood of the story. Inkers have to work off of the characters' emotions and draw their scenes accordingly. There's a lot of coordination that has to happen between the writer and the inker for it all to work out.

One more thing about the story: ever read a book series or watched one on TV where the stuff that happens in an installment has virtually no effect on the characters? I HATE that... Things don't always have to be life-changing, but I think in order for things to stay interesting the cgaracters ought to be fully dynamic in their development.

Jim Lee would soo be perfect for that comic. Just look at Batman 608 and see how cool he drew batman, Wildcats were awsome and his work on Superman will blow u out of the water. Jim Lee is a God

The perfect three
1. Jim Lee-artist (Wildcats,Batman,Superman)
2. Loeb-writer (superman,Soulfire, Smallville)
3. Batt-Inker (Darkness)

I'm not too into comics, but I'd love to see Stan Lee or John Romida Jr (his father use to draw Spiderman alongside Stan Lee, he himself draws Spiderman and some X-Men now) do a Halo Comic... but then again, they both work for Marvel, so there would probably be some marketing issues or lawsuits or something unless they could just agree and say "Hey, Halo's great, lets just do this for the hell of it" ya know?

A Comic book of Halo would be awesome... but I think a movie would be better... *looks at link in signature* THINK ABOUT IT! lol. A Comic book would rule, without a doubt, but so would a movie if it was done right.

Because I've looked through the entire thread, and I'm really surprised no one has mentioned them, and you're at their convention right now packing up the Halo 2 demo.

I speak, of course, of Gabe and Tycho, the mad, sick gamers who create Penny Arcade. They've been taking commissions as of late for comics for games such as "Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". I'm sure they'd appreciate the cashflow, as well as get it right.

a halo comic?, that's a good idea. but personaly i think masamune shirow has more experience in drawing metalic textures, the master chief and cortana wold look very cool, not to mention the interior of halo and the covenant.

in my opinion bungie should gather, masamune shirow, marc silvestri, and ashley wood. for the comic proyect, that whould be a ton of good talet an expertice in comic matters, shirow would do the metalic enviroments, armors, guns and ships. silvestri would draw characters, and ashley wood would draw flashbacks, memories, and top speed secuences.

now that is a good team for the proyect, i know about comics and i'm telling you that is visual quality for halo fans.
besides i agree with leperchaun eddie, its haaaaaard work but tey will need more staff than 3 people.

I would really liek to see a comic that uses your type of style Mehve, that or Craig Mullins. I really like both of your guys artwork. A Halo comic book would be awesome.

Lots of good games/books have been turned into a comic book series. I would really like to go to my local comic book store some day and see a Halo comic book.

None of the names you listed there sounded familiar to me, so I just voted whatever looks cool, although I would rather see you or Craig's work on it.

I espicially like the Halo Babies stuff you did, it had a really neat style. Maybe after Halo 2 is released, and you got some spare time on your hands, you could prepare work on a online Halo comic that could maybe turn into a full blown comic book series.

Sorry for rambling on :p

I don't generally read to many comic books because alot of them are too grose and disturbing and weird for me. But a Halo comic would be cool so as long as it doesn't ge too.......out there. And is action packed and exciting.

personally i'd love to see it by Ben Templesmith (30 days of night) because I think it would be really interesting to see what he can do in a sci-fi type setting instead of his usual horror stuff... or McFarlane.. because he's amazing!

What makes a good comic. Ideally a combination of good story and good art, but if you don't have a good story you simply have a pin-up book.

I think Dave Gibbons would be the best artist for a Halo comicbook simply because he's proven himself with similar subject matter (futuristic military) in the "Martha Washington" series.
I'm sure you're familiar with his and Frank Miller's Martha series starting with "Give Me Liberty".
Gibbons has a clean and consistent art technique with a great attention to detail and realism.

As for the other artists, Alex Ross is a great painter as is Fabry (Preacher rules), but I don't really get jazzed when they do interior pages. The panels become less about storytelling and more about capturing some great lighting on some model's face. Too "photo referency" for my tastes.
Jim Lee and Mad are best drawing superheroes.
I haven't actually seen any of Masamune Shirow's manga (only Anime), but if he'd draw a Halo comic I'd definitely check it out.

I'm a huge Mike Mignola (Hellboy) fan. I buy everything he does. The obvious subject matter for a Mignola story would have to be the Flood. He did a great Aliens story with Kevin Nowlan back in the 90s (which was written by Dave Gibbons oddly enough!).

If you were to really put a Halo comicbook out there, I think it'd be best to go with a relative unknown. Create something like the Animatrix/Matrix comicbook: get lots of different writers and artists to come up with different stories within the Haloverse. That way you could cover a wider gamut of art styles and read stories that don't all have to do with the Master Chief (he's not the only one fighting!). How about a Covenant story. I'd really like to know more about the "Food Nipple back at the starship."

Now, I don't know much about art styles in comics or the artists for that matter, but....I say we have Master Chief parade around in a cape, fighting crime wherever it may be! Whether it's a gang of grunts robbing a bank or an elite stealing an old lady's purse, the chief is there! "Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's master chief lodging his boot of justice in the behind of the covenant !" That'd be worth reading....atleast I think so. Edit: How bout we call it "Super Chief Adventures?"

My wife collects the older "Sonic the Hedgehog" comics, and they have one particular artist who did some awesome detail. His handle was "Spaz"

Then again, to have him do chief? (Er, Spaz,...........why are chief's legs spinning in circles?)

I don't know what makes a good comic but I can't help but wonder if we'll ever see the chief's face.

Hey mehve you know what would be cool? If you made like a quicktime movie comic with moving characters with voices. It would be a new and exciting direction for you to try, if you would be willing to put your time into something like this. I understand your probably really busy with Halo 2, but just an idea for the future. :)
