I think the essence of a good comic has been captured in the work of Kazuo Koike(story) and Goseki Kojima(art), the creators of Lone Wolf and Cub(wow!) and Samurai Executioner(omg!).

Also Osamu Tezuka in my opinion very nearly created the 'perfect' comic in his pheonix series.

The beauty of the art and the scope and depth of the stories is simply breathtaking, like literally u have to stop and take a break at times.

I would suggest either of those two artists, but they have both passed away :( DAMMIT!

What makes these comics so good as opposed to other great comics is still eluding me though, its as if its beyond my mental faculties, but I dont care, i love the stuff :p

Maybe if i knew i could make a lot of money... hmmmm

And here is a little nugget of info.. Did u know, that Osamu Tezuka(Anime Godfather) and Goseki kojima were born on the very same day? odd no?

:| *Sigh*..... what can i say really .. except that even Todd McFarlane was inspired and indeed credits Osamu Tezuka for inspiring him to enter the field.... I am glad he was the kind of guy that would consider reading a comic even if he couldnt pronounce the artists name. >:[

The comic ought to have a nice plot with some good looking pics. Something like halo babies or Calvin and Halo, they're good!

I think Neil Gaiman should write the script for a MC comic book. He's the dude who does the Sandman comics. For the art, I think it should be someone who can draw realistically and gory, so I'd say Adam Kubert. I have never really seen much of his art super bloody, but I am sure he can. Plus, he's got a medical degree or something, so he sure can be realistic.

I would definitely like to see Todd Mcfarlane (dont know if its right spelling) do a Halo comic. Even though he doesn't create things like Halo, I'd like to see his take on it, like how he portrays the personalities, and even just the way he draws them.

I particularly enjoy Kazu Kibuishi's work, which you can find at boltcity.com.

His main claim to fame is Copper, a relatively little known web comic, but easily one of my favorites. It is a wonderful comic, both the art and the true literal sense of wonder it inspires. He is currently working on a series of graphics novels starring a futuristic cowgirl bounty hunter, Daisy Kutter. I've only read a little of it, but its good stuff.

I would truly love to see a coffee-table-caliber book of The Art of Halo, or a series of Halo comics. Are you thinking of a funny or serious comic?

I personally hope for a more serious one.

Either way, I hope your endeavors turn out to be rewarding and successful, Lorraine. Good Luck!

I voted "none of these guys".... I think LeSean should do a Halo Comic... You know the guy whos drawing the CannonBusters series... and did the new Ninja Turtle Stuff... He rocks... in fact the guys over at Artxilla.com would make a sweet Graphic Novel version of Halo: First Strike.... I'd love to see that.... and what makes a good comic? the art and the story... if you got crappy art and a good story... it'll still be good, but not as good as if you had awesome art and a great story... art and the story line make comics...
