I voted for the last choice. Though the options were good. Alex Ross is amazing, looking at his work is like looking into real life. Jim Lee helped to define the 'classic' super hero look of the 90's era, so naturally he's a good choice too. But among these choices others were left out. Todd McFarlane as mentioned before would be great...but so would other artists like Jusko, Kubert, Romita, and Tim Bradstreet (check out the covers to the new Punisher comics). Plus, you can never count out any of the young up and coming independent comic book artists, there are many out there and many are very talented. All in all it's really a tough choice. Great topic.
Oh and I dunno if anyone else has stated this, but with regards to Stan Lee, he wasn't so much the artist as he was the writer/co-creator for the classic comic books you're probably thinking of. The old school artist was Jack Kirby, who defined what a super hero looked like in his day and age. He is now also given creative credit for drawing the old characters like the original X-men, Silver Sufer, etc. (And if I'm not mistaken, Stan Lee's partner when creating Spider-Man was Steve Ditko and not Jack Kirby.)
