In my opinion, nothing is better than Halo:CE...Halo 3 is more for the mainstream than the hardcore, and Halo 2 is good, but it's just not Halo:CE

So I was wondering how I could relive the 'glory' days of my teens and have the fun of a 16 player lan match

I've been reading up on some programs that 'trick' your xbox into thinking it's hooked into a system link game

So I was wondering which of these is the best, or even how you guys (or girls) relive the classic Halo:CE

XBConnect is probably the best, due to numbers. There are usually a few people playing. It's unlikely that you'll get any large games on there though. It's hard enough to get small games. The other services have almost no one playing Halo: CE,

You could get Halo: PC. It still has hundreds or thousands of players.

I know how you feel. I'd love to throw a 16 player LAN party again.

There's no better way to experience Halo multiplayer, and for me it's been years. It's hard enough for me to find the time to coordinate meeting just 2 of my friends on Xbox Live anymore. We're all just too busy.

I'll throw the idea at them, and with a little luck we can get a decent LAN party going.

There's always hope.

yea throwing together lans' these days is a hard thing to do, with jobs and families it gets to be a little hectic. i miss those days, the food, the competition, the 3 hour CTF games. we tried getting it going at our last lan earlier this year, but we had 5 newer players that protested and only wanted to play halo3. not that i mind, but i was feeling like having some "retro" fun, hahaha.

My computer had to be upgraded so it can't play.

Yeah, with everybody either away at school, or married w/ kids now, I don't even think that it's possible to bring that back

8v8 CTF on Blood Gulch can never be replicated like it was on Halo:CE

I'll never forget our 3 hour game where I led in kills with 203

Is it me, or has the game seemed to lose that 'epic' feel. You know what I'm talking about: The kind of feeling to where you think that nothing will ever be better.

On a side note, we should all try to get on XBConnect sometime and play

I agree that all presidents should serve 2 terms. 1 in office and 1 in prison

i hear that, every time i boot up halo its like when i first played it, just sit there in awe looking at it, but halo 3, meh too commercialized

It's hard to beat a good old fashioned Halo CE LAN match. I like the LAN experience as opposed to online because your opponents are in the next room or right next to you. I've played in many including the 1st Halo National Championship.

  • 09.25.2008 7:34 AM PDT

Kindly refrain from Frog-Blasting my Ventcore.

Nothing can ever beat LAN. Unfortunately, there's only one person that I know has Halo, and he can only play it on his desktop (so much for LAN). I have lots of other friends who play games, but they all think that Halo is evil or something.

Boy, LAN parties, that takes me back. I still remember how much it sucked to lug around a TV and xbox with all the hookups to friends houses. Once I got there and started playing though, it was all worth it. Your best bet to play with others if you can't do a LAN party is Xbox Connect. Either that or get a copy of Halo for your PC, there are always people on there.

your in the right place man, many of the people on this forum feel that way, they did everything right with halo in my opinion, especially considering the time period.

Bungie is the best.

Simple as that.

i would like a LAN party also and XBConnect has almost no one on it but u may get a game on it still which is cool.

yup, that was our favorite setup, 5 flags to win and the carrier could drive vehicles. we had some 3+hour games with that.

This is a RETICULE, and that is a RETICLE. I'm using the latter to aim. And what are you using?

Are you sure? Halo: PC requires Win 98SE / ME / 2000 / XP, 733 MHz CPU, 128 MB RAM, 1.2 GB free HDD space, and a GFX card with 32 MB.

Xbox Connect has given me crap in the past. Use XLink Kai. Same Number of people playing and no need to deal with ports And i think that lag is a little less of an issew.

Halo CE: Just an overall great game... Since the lack of Xbox live with it, it sorta forced you to play Campagin which in my opinion was the best of the series followed by H3 and H2. In its time halo CE was Unweildly to ANYother game, EVERYone wanted Halo CE, now its just a good memory :)

I never found those requirements to be very accurate.

As far as Xlink Kai vs. XBConnect goes, I never see anyone playing Halo: CE on Xlink Kai. There are usually a few on XBConnect, even if Xlink Kai is a bit better from a software standpoint.

Your best bet is to go with XBConnect; you can find more information about this alternative of free online gaming by visiting this page here.
