Wait, are we forgetting something here? Cortana, when in the Control Room copied ALL the data on the Forerunner and saved it, she said in first strike that it would take a week non stop to categorize and understand it. Maybe Halo 2 will give us some info

While we're at it, I figured I'd throw up my personal theory on the subject:

My Personal Halo Theory

We existed Millenia ago, alone in the cosmos, the first and only race. We made ourselves into Gods, harnessing the energy of suns and black holes to power our grand devices and yet, crafting whole species to serve as our servants, those that would explore and work upon high gravity worlds, those that would work upon methane planets, those that would fight for us and those that would serve as intermediary between ourselves and our servants.

Still, we were fearful. There where other galaxies and there existed thet possibility in those galaxies there could be others like ourselves and they might not be so peaceful. So we worked to create an insurmountable defense-- the Halo network.

The Halos were to be our greatest feat of engineering yet. Each was designed to emit a pulse of phased energy through slipspace out to 25,000 light years, totally burning out the neurons of any species with an advanced neurology. Each Halo was an ark and within each was a Library that stored the genetic samples of all species within its reach. Before firing the Halo, the Index which posseses an up to date scan of all the genetic samples contained within had to be returned to the core.

Afterwards, came the most amazing of our feats, we successfully created a genetic blank, an organism that could be molded to become any living form. Using this organism we could recreate all the creatures destroyed by the phase pulse and restore the galaxy to its previous state. Tragically, this achievement was also the source of our destruction.

The organisms meant to repopulate the galaxy mutated, assumed a primitive form of sentience on its own and began to prey upon us. We dubbed them "the Flood". Their amorphous nature and unique ability to alter its own genetic structure made it difficult to combat. The Halo network was not yet complete, the shelters against its might not yet erected but there was not choice, the Flood consumed all. The Rings exploded, nullifying all life save for a far flung portion of the galaxy. The survivors were few, a lone planet called Earth held a shelter against the Halos deep within the earth. Meanwhile, some of the Covenant were spared, being in an area where the Halo's were not yet completed. Who knew they were to evolve and become a collective, feeding off of our bones.

No, Guily Spark only says what he says because he "thinks" your a forerunner. Then at the Maw he finally learns that you are human along with the other missing parts of life that he cant recall. Ao in the long run you "look" like a forerunner a thats what Guilty Spark thinks ntil he actually knows. So a forerunner must look like something towards a Solider with MOLJINR armor.

i think cortana is gonna die in halo 2 and all the info is lost and you have to recover it from other databases on the second halo.

I'm sure if Guilty Spark can scan and tactically analyze a suit of armour hardened against intrusion that he could discern what species of creature was wearing it.

humans are not forerunners, because the forerunners are going to be in halo 2, and they are most likely going to be an enemy.

  • 07.01.2004 9:53 AM PDT

wrong. You have no proof at all.

Feel Free. It'll mess with their heads.

I haven't found any flaws in the conjecture yet, in fact, reading through the books only provided more support. I just wonder how close it will be to the true plot.

hoosnext that is your opinion that is based on nothing really... because nothing in halo or the books says that... once again i have to point out that you will need to wait 4 months to see whats happens.

Draerden
im sure that it will be somwhat along the lines to what halo 2 will prove or maybe its exactly what it is and bungie reads this and changes it lol(highly unlikly but oh well nothings impossible)

Well, that is a scripted response... cause in theory... you ARE NOT supposed to shoot him. Just like you're not supposed to kill the marines... yet people do anyway. The reason he says that it is a rough way or a different form of saying... "Stop being an idiot." Humans are idiots when you boil us down to the core. Evnious, Prideful, Lustful, etc. And so he is saying not to be that way... "Don't be an idoit and try to shoot me. I can't die." Also... what is your comment to the almost landfill amount of evidence supporting Human=Forerunner theory? Are you saying that is all now irrelevant cause of that one quote? Give me a break.

it would be lame if we never saw the forerunners. And if we did and they were human, that would be lame to.

Forerunner are aliens. Humans don't have the technology to build Halo. We would have been won the war.

True, the explanation behind this is that we litterally forgot ourselves. We had to start from scratch again. Remember, Halo was used once. So we don't know EXACTLY how it works. Perhaps all the sentient life is killed off in a certain distance... correct? Maybe it didn't kill everything/everyone. So you have what remains of the Forerunners possibly stranded on a planet, Earth, and they have to start all over not remembering the past. Also, this is like a lot of old Sc-Fi flicks, stories. When Earth is destoryed there is a small group of survivors... like a contingency plan that no matter whay this little group will survive and the human race will continue.

i think that we're discovering a Halo2 plot twist!!!!

Draerden: You either copied that off halo.bungie.org. Or you were the one who posted it. I'm not sure which

Theres also this theory that I read a while ago that got me thinking. This theory says that we are the "forerunner". But what happens is when the POA does the space boost (forgot name, to lazy to look up) in the beginnig of H1 that it traveled into the future. And that the Halos were built by humans but before the POA gets out of the time warp thingie. I mean, it makes sense.

it could happen like that, i mean its pretty reasonable like if they went into the future the humans created everything and they were the missing history of the spartan? i mean who knows we will need to wait to redeem our game on nov. 9th. or possibly wait for xbox 2 and halo 3? :*(

Hmm . . . Kind of like Marathon. But that wouldn't explain how MC made it back to 2552 in First Strike.
