Yeah, sure it's cheating. I hate it, it takes a fun part out of the game.

But whatcha goin' to do about it? I say quite -blam!-in' because you can't prevent it from happening, if you're on the same screen. You know very well that you most likely do it then too. Subconsciously. Violence is the only solution.

Screenwatching IS cheating. the screen is a representation of your field of vision. They didn't put telepathy into the game, so screenwatching is illegal...

But EVERYONE I know has done it once or twice...

I posted this already, but it bears repeating.

Okay, I say, that if you look at someone else's screen, no matter if its a linked XBOX or someone on the same TV, it should be considered cheating. The only time that I can say screen-looking is not cheating is if you're looking at a teammates screen. See, with my friends a I try to make the experience as real as possible. That means that in a real battle, in a real war, you're not gonna be able to just roll your eyes over and see where the enemy is. However, your teammates could have, let's say.. walkitalkies. Therefore, you are able to tell where they are. I have this one group of friends who, even though they dont admit it, screen look non-stop. So, I got tired of it. This is only two other people. So its three ppl playing. And I, being the best out of our group, have to be the one by myself while they are on a team. So now, I get another XBOX, and we play sys-link. And I set the TV that I'm playing on so that they cant cheat.

I think its unfair that the enemy can get away with finding out your postition when you're in the most desperate situations

well yeh 'screen hacking' is cheating, but everyone who says they dont do it is a liar, your just trying to make out your some badass gamers, but in reality, you sitting here moaning about ppl 'screen hacking' just proves your not.... ppl 'screen hack' when we play MP games, but i still kick their ass's all over the map, so i dont really care if they do it or not :) but some of you seem really angry about it so you must be getting your ass's kicked because of it, granted its -blam!- annoying when your sat there with a sniper and someone magically dodges your shot, but when they do that, i just hunt the -blam!-s down, so like try deal with it, no offence but you all crying over it is pretty lame dudes. but as someone pointed out, there wont be much 'screen hacking' after november the 9th :D!!!!!!

I kinda think it is, I get accused of screen watching a lot because I hace great perepherial vision, so I can easily see other screen while watching my own, so alot of guys think I screen watch.

I just gotta say, I understand that sometimes, its hard not to screen-look, and I will admit, if someone accused me of doing it sometime, Id have to say yes. The thing is, if I ever glance at someone's screen, I either immediately look away so I dont know where they are or what they are doing, or I just dont use it to my advantage. I go and do something totally different from them and give them time to either reviel themselves or get away from where they were.

Screen-peeping is not cheating. As a matter of fact, the only way to cheat in Halo is to give someone a bum controller. Or screw with their profile settings.

I voted yes.. But understand me here-- I only believe it's cheating if you're playing a LAN game and a spy runs in and finds where you've hidden the warthogs...(Or other valuable things)

If you're playing a Screen game then I dont mind.. It's part of the game and you have to learn to shoot them before they shoot you

No, because if you are on the same screen, and its right there in front of you, you can use it. It's not cheating, its resourcefulness.

Is Screen watching cheating?
Is looki(ng) at the other guy(')s hand of cards cheating?

If you play cards on a t.v. that shows both player's hands, is it still cheating?

They're different games, so different rules apply.

If you can control your eyes well enough (most of us, with practice, can), then avoiding the controversial act of screen watching should be easy and you'll never be accused of cheating.

If you have an agreement between all players in a split screen match (which, thank God, has been confirmed to be in Halo 2! Go here for details.) that screen watching is going to happen (intentionally or not) and no one's going to be -blam!- and get psycho about it (or if anyone does you can all work out the problem), no big deal.

That said, yes it's cheating, but in some cases I don't think it can entirely be avoided.

The first LAN I played we had to (due to number of players) have different teams on the same t.v. screens at times. Since I was a newbie and could barely move before getting mowed down by some of the more experienced players who showed no mercy, I resorted to screen looking just to survive. No one cared, as some others were doing it too.

If you don't want screen looking to be a problem, I suggest investing in Xbox Live before too long....

It is coz it ruins the realism and point of haveing a motion tracker and the arrows that tell you were your being shot from.

Oh and having a motion tracker is real and arrows are realitstic too.

Yes, I rely on total stealth and stalking techniques, when people look at my screen in BG, I can't hide in bushes and stuff.

Neither can they, you can benefit from screen watching. Asking someone to not screen watch when playing on the same screen is like asking someong to not watch a beautiful woman strip when it is right in front of them.

yes it is cheating of the lowest and cheapest form if you have to cheat to win u havent won!

Its not cheating if both parties have an equal chance of doing and succeeding.

Sorry, for all the submissions, but this was just easier.
