I'm trying to become an '04, but it's not working too well."

Thank you so much for the new versions of the file share, and i honestly can't wait to put a little bungie banner on my personal webpages.

The only thing missing from this Weekly Update is information on the maps, but i guess that's not important.

What's important is the fun factor.

I give but a taste... of Madness...

I too recall of a time when the kids at my school would come up to each other and say "comE ovR 2 Mah house so we can has play James Bond!" or "dis one gaem i gots dis wekend". But around the beginning of my awkward middle school 6th grade year, a magnificent revelation occurred. A new game had recently been released for the new Xbox and it was called Halo, I too thought wth? is this like that Messiah game in which you play as an angel or something? no, instead i was exposed to a FPS like none other i had played before. It was tactical, smooth, and had excellent gameplay. I soon followed up on this new series after the second one came out, and it enticed me to buy an xbox just to play. With the release of the 3rd installment, I knew that I would spend most what free time i had in my nerd cave... ( I soon found out I had more free time than i thought...) I closely watched the development of the game after its release and I found myself in Shock and Awe at the massive community and amount of supporters of this wondrous game.

There are times in which people have been appreciative, and times in which we have been frustrated, but has Bungie not always come through for us? Part of the reason we follow the development of updates is because of the vague descriptions that we are given (this is in response to all those who are angry about KEEP IT CLEAN). It is somewhat like a story in which this is only the beginning chapter, in a book that never ends, where every page is better than the last.

In sum, I had one of the most memorable years of my life one full of new friends, new rivals, new ways to get to that little spot on The Pit, new ways to geomerge a Double box into the Foundry walls, and new ways to have fun. Thank you Bungie, thank you microsoft, thank you loving (and some not so loving) as well supportive players of the Halo Community!

Let's have another good year :D

Futue te ipsum!

Quite simply, one of the best updates ever.

It's bought back so many memories of my gaming past and for me to reciprocate would take at least ten pages! From closing the bar early every weekend so all my friends could come in and play Halo on the projector, to queuing outside a random games shop, freezing my a'ss off waiting for H2 to be released at midnight; to the insane pleasure I felt when I got my copy of H3 early (and the ensuing, impromptu LAN that followed)...... it's been an awesome few years and I know all of my chums and I will support Bungies endeavors throughout the coming years.

Thanks for sharing your memories guys. Believe me, I've enjoyed accruing them!

Bungie... I said it once I said it 7,777,777.77 times. Love you guys! You guys have done alot for us :)

Brilliant; simply brilliant.

Halo 3 and the Bungie Team itself, however good other developers are, still make up the majority of my time on the Xbox 360 and the internet itself. From the Halo 3 beta to the TU2, this has been a journey I will never forget; and I don't give a damn what anyone says about the campaign: put simply, it was awesome. Two scarabs in the snow - I will never forget it. I nearly cried when Johnson died...

That and the fact that no game has ever brought me so many memories: winning 50 to 12, two vs. one, my greatest success; crusading through the campaign with two of my friends, both on Xbox Live and splitscreen; getting my first triple kill, little less than a year ago; and finishing the campaign and feeling that elation, that sense of achievement, of having finished the Halo journey which has taken nearly 7 years.

Proof, then, that Bungie is not just a developer - Bungie is, in fact, a revolution.

Theres a lot of love in this thread; and I'm no exception. :)

I cant remember having a game before with so much replay value since the golden days of Perfect Dark and Golden Eye on the N64. For the majority 80% of this year, there has been one game in the disc tray which has kept me, my friends and family coming back for more: Viva pi... Halo 3!

Halo 3 was the first HD game i ever played and i have to say, i was blown away with the graphics, beautiful environments, attention to detail and online play. It felt so interactive it was like you were actually in the game. I remember having a great time going through the campaign with my brother, then beating it on legendary on solo too. Probably one of the funnest christmas holidays ever.

That takes me onto my next highlight of halo 3, the fileshare feature. For those special moments where something might happen, you come across something unexpected or playing with some mates and want a screenshot/film to remember it by, you can. Not only can you do this, but you can share your highlights of playing with others which is great. Want a desktop background of you and your mates going through campaign or matchmaking? You can. Its the fileshare feature what makes the gameplay so much more of a personal experience.

Talking about personal experience, another excellent feature is Forge which created a strong platform for creative minded folk to make and share maps. Giving the gamer flexibilty to make their own maps is such a good idea. Creativity is endless. Ive seen and played many custom matches and it is inspiring to see so many different ideas and concepts. From AT-AT walkers, spaceships, dragons, robots, race tracks and creations using weapons, it has developed into an art.

A strong year of Halo 3. Congratulations and thank you for making it possible.

Really great update, shame on you people knocking Bungie... they know what they are doing.
I'm looking forward to the fileshare update.
Peace.

Mostly Harmless

Excellent update, certainly got me thinking about all the good times and fun I've had on Halo 3. I thought the old mellee bug was quite funny, particularly how you used to virtually fly into space from a plain old knuckle sandwich.

Certainly the blood sweat and tears that Bungie have put into Halo 3 really shows, the continuous effort to hone it into the gaming equivalent of a 100 gadzillion megawatt laser knife is greatly appreciated. Keep up the good work guys, I'm really looking forward to the 'next project'.

Edge 2.0 - The New Sandtrap, but out of the map!!!!

Thank you Bungie. This was my true Halo anniversary because Europe release was 26th September.

I would have said something and applaued bungie for its great work and amzing game but everything i wanted to say Battle Magnum has already said. He says what we all think. Great community, great game. Well said Battle Magnum

Damn well said Battle Magnum! Mine would have been that nice, but I was pissed lol

Amen, Battle Magnum

It's good to see I have a positive impact on some members of the community. I was afraid some other B.net users would come on and say things like, "oh its just a game stfu" etc, and start ranting like other users have done on this thread.

It's refreshing, seeing mostly positive feedback for once. It's hard to say how many times I've seen nothing but the polar opposite..

Again, congratulations on a successful year. Good luck on your future projects as well, to everyone at Bungie.

I love you bungie! And happy anniversary Halo 3!!!

  • 09.27.2008 4:22 AM PDT

Maybe I will never be
All the things that I wanna be
But now is not the time to cry
Now's the time to find out why
I think you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever

I got the Vidmaster: Annual yesterday.

Awesome.

Congrats to everyone at bungie, you've made an awesome game that's withstood the interwebs and made me proud to be a gamer.
I hope now that the teaser trailer is out you can release the podcast from E3.

My best memory is.... Halo 3. There's to many to count each time i play somthing awesome happens.

Halo 3, Prepare to drop. XD

  • 09.27.2008 4:34 AM PDT

One year on and Halo 3 feels just as fresh as when I first set foot on High Ground sand in the public beta. I still have the saved film of the very first game I played on release day, which I like to watch occasionally to reminisce about the huge fun I had with my friends, all playing together for the first time.

Bungie, a developer who's games I've been losing myself in from the moment the Pfhor invaded the UESC Marathon, consistently deliver captivating gaming, and support their community like no other. Long may the fun continue.

Reading those Bungie Employee quotes were just... beatiful.
And tell Bob I want to see his moobs.

  • 09.27.2008 5:24 AM PDT

yeh but...

there really should be a rule against combining a once delayed countdown with a teaser trailer that doesn't really explain anything.
just saying..

By the way, Did they spell your name wrong on G4tv? I thought it was Jarrard, not Girard...

Nice. I didn't know/never saw it... but it is far the from first time. You'd think a business card with your name on it AND signing a release form and filling out your information would be enough of a clue.

well, they just report the news, they don't make it. You were supremely informative, by the way.

I don't know who Max is but he has to be one of the luckiest people alive.

Wish my birthday was the day of Halo 3's release... and that I got a birthday kiss from Jen Taylor.
