well at least give us a warning message, cops will sometimes do that and since your way cooler than any cop ever you should be able to give us a warning right? maybe like 1 or 2 but then that's it. and do we HAVE to get baned or why not just suspended if our record is clean?

Police officers have something called discretion. In a video game "justice system" discretion doesn't have a place, so no warnings. Banned is the same thing as a suspension just a different word for the same thing.

Spot on mate, we have discretion...but this is a video game and and the rules are set down by a private company, not an accountable public sector workforce / governemnt

Do not worry about the actions of others, it will catch up with them at some point concentrate on your own from now on...and lets hope after 4 days we don't see you back here!

I do have a question. If I were to help somebody get achievements, Would that get me banned too if I wasnt getting any achievements myself? especially since it is only affecting my friend and myself, NO ONE ELSE.

Halo Reach!!!!

Well I sure Bungie doesn't read these but I believe I should be unbanned in the fact that I did not know you could get banned for trying to get achievements. First off why should it matter how (unless I'm using a mod) I get these achievements? So if a friend of mine is over and playing my xbox and gets me an achievement this means I'm cheating since I was not the one playing the game at the time? No.
I pay 50 dollars a year, plus I paid for all the Halo maps and for the game itself. Unless there is a rule that says "you will get banned for asking for help getting achievements" Then I don't see why anyone gets banned for an unspoken rule. It seems to me that unless I have a mod or boosting (which I have never done in either Halo 2 or 3) then why should Bungie care how I play my games.
I'm not ruining the game for anyone, not cheating, I was just playing Halo 3 and on the side trying to get achievements if you look at my record I played hundreds of games that were just for fun and I believe I should be unbanned since I am just a teenager trying to have fun and if I am unbanned will never go with a group and try to get achievements.
I hope Bungie read this and will allow me to play since I would like to play more Double EXP weekend (infected my second favorite besides Flag). Thank you

I agree 100%, why do I get banned for getting enjoyment out of a product that I paid for? I should be able to do with it as I please, as long as it is not affecting anybody who is not aware of it. What I did, everyone was aware of what was going on. It would be nice if I could get a response from a bungie employee.

Blah blah blah.

Terms of Service.

Rules and Regulations.

You also purchased those. Not our fault you can't follow them.

Seems like you are trying to start something, are you a bungie employee? Dont know, but I did insinuate an answer from a bungie employee, if you are a bungie employee, you are out of line and being totally hypocritical. NO WHERE in any rules and regulations or terms of service am I told how I am allowed to get my achievements , I emphasized that because they are my achievements, they have nothing to do with the rest of the world, mine, all mine, not yours, mine. So why does bungie care how I get my achievements if it isnt effecting them, nor any other player on xbox live, prosecute the ones who actually break the rules, who know they are breaking the rules, by using mods and leveling up in ranked matches, and what about the ones who buy their gamer tags on ebay! That kind of stuff is affecting everybody else, NOT what I did! How bout we get a complete list of what we cant do on Halo 3, sent to our houses, or would we have to pay for those too. Be told how fast to read them, or told that we have to read them within a certain amount of time of opening.

Why am I being told how to play the game that I have overtime paid 80 dollars for. If it is such a big problem, why are we able to do it so easily, and we dont even think of it as cheating, we didnt know that it was considered cheating! It would be easier to fix on bungies end by only allowing us to get achievements without guest, in my case, rather than hiding around the corner just to stab us in the back after we supported your jobs by buying your product, and you turn around and tell us how we are allowed to play the game that we own. Why is me getting achievements such a big deal to bungie? that is the initial question!

Congrats on your purchase of Halo 3 and the DLC for Halo 3. Followed by any Halo 3 accessories including:

Backpacks
Headsets
Controllers
T-Shirts
Keychains
Posters

I am not a Bungie employee. I only know a few things in life. One thing is, you break the rules... you pay the price. No matter how much money you spent, you got caught.

You paid for the game. The game has rules. You broke the rules. You are banned. It's pretty easy and doesn't require paragraphs of excuses.

I know a few things in life too bud, and one thing is, I have seen no evidence in any terms of service, or rules and regulations that came with the game that state how I am supposed to get my achievemnets. I am not denying what I did, otherwise I wouldnt have posted what I did hours ago! I was not aware that what I was doing was against the rules. Apparently I cant emphasize that enough, do you expect me to visit this website everytime I decide to play halo 3 for updated rules and regulations? These are not paragraphs of excuses they are paragraphs that state a point, a point that you aparently cant grasp. I came onto these forums seeking an answer which you have totally avoided, WHY does bungie care how I get my achievements!!!??? I ask twice, this is the third, so if you cant answer the question, dont try and quit using your rules sentence.

Manipulation of the game will get you banned. Joining in as an oversized party and making one team obey the other is a form of manipulation, which results in.. you guessed it.. a ban. You need to calm down, take a few deep breaths, and look at this in a very logical manner. You did something wrong, and you know that. Bungie has stated the manipulation rule time and time again, and we both know that. What you did was a form of manipulation, and we all know that. Now be a good boy and go play ball outside, the grown ups are having a discussion.

With ridiculous statments like that then you can join them, seriously guys no need to flame each other, Leonidas usually you post decent stuff, I don't think that is one of your best

FYI, I am 22 years old with a wife, as previously stated, and two kids.

I do not mean to sound rude, but i'm not sure what that has to do with boosting achievements, not flaming you dude but try not to respond to daft statements

To tell you the truth, I couldnt get the achievement any other way,

That there is bad enough mate, achievements are meant to mean that you achieved something by legit means, not by "manipulating the system"

If you take a look at the page where it describes the type of bans that can be handed out you will see there is a loose statement which suggests that doing anything that is not in the rules is breaking the terms of service.

Just have to put this one down as experience mate, I am not trying to pick a fight with you, just explaining the basics on the problem you have.

I dont want it to seem like I hate you guys, you make a very compelling argument, but you assumed to much, that I manipulated the network, when I did not, I just didnt think that playing with guest that arent very good at halo (that is what I did and I am sorry if you dont like that) because that is how I figured out how to get the achievement, if I knew it was considered cheating I would not have done it because i know that banhammer swings hard, I just never saw it coming my way for something like that, it aggravated me, and confused me at the same time, I apologize for any offense and for my fuming demeanor. I did get caught, but for something I didnt know I was doing.

This is where it could be said you disturb the play experience of others who get their achievements legitly.

Anyways, its not the intent that got you banned it was the action. I'm assuming the guests you had involved weren't actually playing...

You didn't manipulate the network. You manipulated the matchmaking system. Which is what boosting is.

When I said To tell you the truth, I couldnt get the achievement any other way, meant I couldnt get it playing against 50's in mythic matchmaking, I dont want the 2 week ban lifted because I know now that what I did was wrong now. I achieved it because I found a way to do it. but not by manipulation of any kind. Me getting paired with 50's makes it impossible for me to get it, but they have it because they are paired with people like me, a 38. Why cant I do the same thing? and play against people who arent as good as me?

Idid however have 3 guest signed in with no players, to help a friend get achievements that I had already. Could that be why I got banned for 2 weeks?

Yep, bingo.
