I'm not here to say I'm innocent, I'm not here to say "OMG I gut banned for no RAISON", I'm not here to lie or argue against it, I'm here to tell how I got banned, what I did, and what happened as a result.
Two friends of mine and I got two consoles and 8 controllers and filled up a party in DLC FFA. One of my friends happens to be an achievement whore and he wanted some of the new ones without trying. We didn't even think about the EXP.
Now I realize that achievement boosting isn't any better than exp boosting but my console has been banned from exp and not achievements.
I happened to be in the matchmaking lobby with another friend of mine the next day (I think) when suddenly a message popped up that told me my console had been banned from getting exp. I thought it was kinda funny. Every time I read about the new banhammer I assumed it would take care of more serious offenses, but cheating is cheating.
I'm not mad that I'm banned. I really couldn't care less. Its just a game, and even if I did take the game too seriously like some people do, I can still play it just like before. Nothing changed other than the fact that I do not gain EXP when I win a match.
Fortunatly for me the ban gave me the motivation to go back into Lone Wolves and work on my rank, and luckily in three games I got my rank up to the desired level. No I didn't get EXP for those wins but it's just EXP. I have over 1000, and everyone knows thats more than enough to become a general.
I'm not sorry I did it. I knew what I was doing. I'm not angry, not even in the slightest. If anything I see this as a first hand experience whitnessing the new banhammer taking care of people that are not playing the game as designed. Everyone has been in at least one game where someone potentially ruined the game for someone else, and I'm very glad to see that bungie is taking a step in dealing with these problems.
This was a first offense for me and in less than two weeks now, I'll be able to gain EXP again. Also I'm sure I'll feel the silent gaze of bungie's personel watching and waiting for me to slip up again, and to that I say go on ahead. Check my file share while you're at it, I got some nice stuff on there.
So maybe this will make some of you kids realize that this is just a game. It is definitly nothing to cry about. Honestly if I was perma banned it wouldn't bother me. I played Halo 2 without xbox live for years.
Also It would give me more time to do things other than play xbox. Things that are actually productive. I mean achievements are addicting and all but just stop for a second and ask yourself, "what do achievements get you". Maybe then you will realize that video games are wasting your time.
This is an excellent post. It's too bad most won't take the time to read it because it's a "wall of text."
