Normally i have a good laugh at the cheating scrubs whining in this forum about being banned, however there appears to be a couple of genuine complaints here so i will forsake my usual mocking post and say that bungie have a very poor attitude to their customers, any organisation that posts "you have no rights play nice" really need to reevaluate their customer service policy.

Well i got a points ban and the only thing i can think of is that i let my friend join me in some games, the odd thing is i was trying to get him to buy an xbox because i thought they were good, but if all the games give you bans just for playing them it makes you wonder if they really are that good.

As i said in another posting perhaps instead of just banning people why not help them play in a way that does not get them bans, ie if they stumble upon something that bungie thinks is not appropriate a message comes on the screen that directs them in fixing the problem.

Not all gamers are seasoned veterans of the machine or the game and have very little idea of what they are doing so the help would be apreciated.

If bungie are interested in helping people to play right surely this would make good sense.

Bans just get on peoples nerves and annoy them and may even turn people off.

"Drastic measures will be taken."

For anyone concerned about their bans and such, two bits of news:
(1) The weekly update from 5/27/11 has some new information regarding the bans and recent updates to the Banhammer.
(2) There is a new forum concerning said bans filed under Halo:Reach. You guys might have better luck getting answers there since this one is effectively dead.

Cheers,
Cugs

Please explain to me how my 10 year old son, who REFUSES to drop out of a game early, who knows NOTHING of boosting and always plays by the rules not only gets banned from earning credit for two weeks but also has ALL of his experience has been removed. He was busted down from commander to recruit.

Is there no one to contact about this? I pay a lot of money for the Halo games (as does everyone else). I think that it is irresponsible and un-American to pass judgement on someone without a right to appeal and without explanation as to why.

My son wants more of the Halo games. I refuse to spend money with a company that has no voice for it's consumers. Even though this is "only a video game" it is important to my son. If it is important to him then it is important to me.

If someone from the game creators staff can explain EXACTLY what caused his ban then I am all ears. Your response dictates my next steps. His gamertag is Sergeant1507. I am awaiting a reply.

Mad Mom,

Um, you're probably not going to get a reply just by posting in here. You should head over to the Halo:Reach forum and post in the topic regarding bans over there. Other than that, message a moderator of the forums and go from there. I'm not saying this in any official capacity, it's just an FYI as opposed to silence.

I could post lots of things on here that people will get cranky about (like Bungie's "you have no rights" quote), but the bottom line is you're not going to have a whole lot of luck on an appeal. Why do I say this? Supposedly another topic was created by Bungie exclusively for appeals. It was locked soon after creation because Bungie said there were no instances of improper bans, so there was no need for a topic where people could appeal. This is just what I heard, so take it for what it is. I do not promise that this is 100% fact.

But really, check out the weekly update from 5/27. It was pretty much written special for the people that have been banned. Past that, jump in the other forum or message a moderator.

You can get banned in 3 now? Sheesh that takes half the fun out of it.

  • 07.04.2011 4:08 PM PDT

I know this doesn't have anything to do with halo 3 but back at the beginning of this year I got credit banned in reach, but the weird thing is that I'd only just got my X-box and hadn't been boosting OR hacking, one minute I'm playing campaign with my brother and the next I've got a message telling me that I've been credit banned. The message gave me a website to go to, but when I tried it the entire bungie website was down, could the website have been sending out random ban messages? also my gamer tag is rocky ninjaz, please look into this.

I don't think that the moderators care about all of these bans, they just assume that their people aren't lying about banning someone wrongfully or having their computer screw up. If you were banned for no reason, probably nothing is going to fix it OK

Sorry I wish I could help all the wrongfully banned, but I cant I am just another random person on this forum.

I think that is what bungie thinks of us. We are just complaining
consumers for their product. Like any other business they just want money. Love,

Could I get banned for derankers quiting, ending up giving me exp?
Cause that looks like what just happened to me.

  • 07.17.2011 5:54 PM PDT

First of all before I start this message let me say I am new to xbox and halo - only bought the rig 2 weeks ago.
I have spent the last 2 weeks getting my butt kicked from here to Timbuktoo and back again but heyho that is how i will learn.

I was therefore shocked last night having been playing on split screen for a few days with my son to suddenly get a ban message
- Initially it was You have been banned from earning credits
- Then my son got the same!
- then the console got it!!

all this happened in a 5 minute period
Now i do not know how we prove we have done nothing wrong but i know without any shadow of doubt that we have not.

There is a not nice attitude towards customer service in these forums - it appears like Bungie has our money so they do what they want and us poor customers can take it or leave it.

As a complete Noob I want to know what we are supposed to have done to earn this ban - I also want to know when this ban will expire?

I must stress I am no teenage child and I do know my legal rights (though I do not expect to have to go down that road) so therefore I want to hear from Bungie what I am supposed to have done wrong (I am not asking for any response from other users thank you)

Obviously if we did something wrong we need to know so we don't transgress again - My argument however is that I do not believe we have transgressed in any way so I request respectfully - show me & tell me

Thank You

Very true statement.

I'm a victim of this exp ban. To be honest I am a nerd at Halo, I know every spawn point in every type of Halo game. From having this knowledge I can call myself legit, and I am sorry if you play against me.

I never "hack" or "cheat", I simply play by Bungies rules, although from playing by Bungies rules YOU CAN GET EXP BANNED.

My theory relates to DeviantUniform5's post; I believe that in order to get exp banned, you need to get a certain amount of negative player reviews, rather than a Bungie Moderator using their power to use the banhammer.
Another theory is that if you have a 'high rank' and you play bad... and your team loses, of course your team is going to submit a player review towards the 'high rank', thus causing the first theory to take hand.

If I am wrong, this is just what I would like to see, is PROOF of WHY YOU GET EXP BANNED. Now in saying the following thing I know there is a high chance that a Moderator will take it offensive, but it is just my opinion simply because NO ONE IS SURE ON WHY THEY GET BANNED. I simply think that if you play against a Moderator, or someone close with one, and you tear them up with a few "T-bags", they can use the banhammer on you 'just because'.

EVIDENCE - there is almost never any, now for most games if you get a ban you are given evidence to how you broke a rule, but for Halo its completely different. From what I have read, and also seen videos from youtube; YOU CAN GET EXP BANNED FROM DOING ANYTHING.

In conclusion Bungie needs to deal with the dictators and make their future games more friendly, because in the end we know that Halo Reach cannot be fixed. Evidence and Appeals should acknowledged and to make rules of the game clearer, or even let players understand that Bungie can use their power to ban players for anything.

Good Gaming,
SWAT out.

Hey, Shishka. In 2009 when I first started Halo 3, I was virtually muted from creating topics on this here forum. I am now asking that after 2 years I have returned to Halo 3 and I was hoping you could "un-mute" me. The reason I was banned was because I was creating a topic dedicated to a Halo 3 competition(from what I can remember), I never knew this was bad.

Look, I can't really justify my mute as I can barely remember
why I was muted, all I'm asking is that someone considers "un-muting" me. I meant no harm. I wasn't trolling. I just didn't know that was against the rules.

Why do I want to be "un-muted"? So I can ask a few questions etc.; the obvious reasons.

Marc.
NOTE: I acknowledge that this is not EXP banning but I didn't know where else to put it.

So you agree that I should be "un-muted"? I really hope I do because quite frankly it's really irritating considering I was a noob back then and didn't know anything really about forums. BTW.I'm a computer programmer(just for the record).

scotia96 says,
"The servers actually account your guest as you, so if your guest is AFK or does really bad over a span of time you CAN get banned for it."

I also read somewhere today that if you get to a credit limit they ban you for 2 weeks.

Just made a thread with this posted and was directed to here. If someone could help me out would be much appreciated :)

Im not a regular on here but im guessing alot of people probably post topics about how they where unfairly banned and they didnt cheat swear on their mothers grave blah blah blah! Im doing just that!! I DID NOT CHEAT!! haha

I dont play alot of halo or xbox at all for that matter but had the urge lately to jump on while the girlfriend is at work (its the only time I can without whinging in my ear!) and play some Halo 3 with an old mate.

Well anyway I was playing a couple nights ago in team doubles and we kept getting paired up with two or three different teams who would either quit out while in lobby waiting for the game to load, or somehow lag us out. Either way we gained no levels from it and checking our exp we didnt seem to get any aswel. Every now and then though we would get a different team and would play a game, during one of the games i got a message saying my console had been banned for one week.

Like i said before I DID NOT CHEAT!! im guessing though I was banned somehow because of the teams who kept quiting before the game even started. Now is there anyway to get un-banned? Or is it just best to wait out the week? My only concern is that if something like this happens again I get banned for longer or permanently. Is their some way to clear my name?

cheers guys!

Forever a fan of Halo when Bungie was in charge.

i Thought "full party Boosting" was allowed, as you are not harming others online playing experience besides degrading yourself.

But what SERIOUSLY amazes me, is that i boosted for around 20ish EXP in Rumble pit and i get exp Banned for 2 weeks within a few hours of me doing it, i was host booted (which is ILLEGAL!!) plenty of times in Team Slayer at rank 50 and NOTHING (yes some do get caught, not alot though) has even happened to the kids that are actually degrading peoples online experience and others losing there ranks over it and others getting ranks they cant actually achieve themselves, while im merely exp boosting and the ban hammer is quick to catch me, what are your guys' priorities really...?

Some one needs to do a ban sweep again

  • 07.30.2011 2:32 AM PDT

I couldnt care less about people boosting exp/achievements, it doesnt effect anyone elses enjoyment of the game. If bungie wishs to ban people for infringing their online rules why doent they ban the derankers/host booters/aim botters/laggers that i routinely meet in matchmaking?
