Cookie is just helping out. I don't see it as doing anyone's work. If I have time, I may do the same thing. Also, if this thread went solely as it has been meant to, then it'd be 100% about people trying to get out of bans and others not knowing why they've been banned.
There would be no posts about the exp system being down, or anything of the like.
I applaud Cookie for looking through different people's game histories and finding things. That does make it less work for anyone at Bungie to try to filter through things. Such as, there's one person whom asked and Cookie couldn't find any reason to them being banned. (I think. If I remember. If I'm wrong, I'll go through and edit this, to make it correct.) That case should be looked into by someone (Shiska).
There are ways to still boost and not get banned, but I'm not gonna tempt said hammer to swing in my direction. It'd still be boosting.
Anyone claiming that there's been no real warnings, is just looking for an easy excuse. Back when that one guy got 1,000's of exp for doing that exp exploit for team doubles (or something) way back in October (or sometime around there. within the first 3 months anyhow) and got banned, I knew that they were serious about banning people. I kinda disappeared from halo for a while, and went and played other games. I didn't keep up to date on things, but now that I'm back, I have read and read. I would like a complete list of all things that can get you banned. Not a guide, but a complete list. Each different type of infraction that could result in a ban. That way, I won't get banned. Not for finding a loophole, but for making sure that I don't accidentally do something.
Again, Cookie is doing nothing wrong. Making things easier to sift through for actual cases for them to look into why someone was banned. Also, I'm not sure what Shiska does (due to me being out of the community for a while), but doing anything to make it easier on Bungie may result in a slightly swifter fix to the exp problems we have. I say, continue on as you're doing.
If anyone wants to go through mine, you can. Got nothing to hide.
I think for people who have been banned, they should get a special mark on their name. In the lobby, how we can have the 7th column symbol, have the spot to the left reserved for the "Mark of Shame" which was branded on the Arbiter at the beginning of Halo 2. Those who have been banned will have that on their name in the lobby, even after the ban is lifted. Just an idea.
I know, this post is kinda off topic, but some others are as well. I've been following this, and so far there is one potential case of the banhammer hitting someone innocent. Maybe they are, maybe not.
I may be joining in on sifting through, not for reward, not to suck up to anyone, but to answer why someone has been banned and to make it easier on Bungie, so they can focus on other things. If you've been banned and know you deserve it, please don't even attempt to waste their time. If unsure or think you've wrongly been banned, my suggestion is to first go through your game history and see if you can find anything. If it's not too late, save your game films and watch them. If you've been wrongly banned, try providing them as proof. Although, most likely, if you play honestly, you won't get banned.
Sorry, just me kinda rambling on. If there's a possibility of any reward, please don't. If I could be blacklisted (not sure what it entitles, but heard the term a few times) and get blacklisted, so be it. If I get banned, so be it. As long as I deserve punishment, then I don't have a problem. If I do what I feel is right, then no reward. I'm starting to be part of the community again, and more so than in the past. I'm just starting here.
Good idea about making this thread in the first place. I'm hoping it'll now become what it is supposed to be.
Note: This post is not biased in any way. I'm just saying what I feel, and what has gone through my mind since I got home today.
