Go to Settings/Account Management/Xbox Live Pass Code. Set one up, and unless your brother knows it, he ain't playing on your account, see, it's a four digit pin you have to enter before it will sign you into live :)

-This is a double post cause I'm not sure where it should go-

Hey all, so I'm going to be straight forward about this.

I was banned last night,
"This Xbox 360 console has been banned from matchmaking for one week."

Sicarios Swat
Rank:25
Exp: -42
Ranked Matches: 21(ish)

So I freaked out because...
(Turns out I'm an idiot on multiple levels)

I been trying hard to get 40 in swat, I kept getting to 38 and play fiddle sticks forever.
So far I've got 3; 38, 37, 35...

I heard that "The more exp you have the harder it is to skill up." So i decided to not get exp.

I stayed in every game until the end.
I wasn't "Boosting" other people.
More then often I was single, sometimes with others.
I'm obviously not that good if i can't get past 38.

Games leading up to the ban. You can check these out, but I don't see the ones in my profile just before the ban. 4 games in a row, there were two people on my team that didn't move at all, and the same people on the other team to slaughter us. It was almost as if the people on the other team were putting the two others on the opposing team, idk. This of course pissed me off, which i left those games, and after the 4th game, when i got stuck with those people I reported them. The game after that I was banned.

I stopped leaving the games that's how i got my 21 ranked matches. I told myself i would just boost up to around that rank and then stop.(Thinking i was actually boosting myself) But it turned out that once i stopped leaving the matches i seemed to rank up faster.

Now grant it, I slaughtered my way past 20, usually 20+ every game.

I read this somewhere and was curious, "Console banning is possible, but they tried to avoid it and only do it in pretty serious cases."

*QUESTIONS*
A -42 exp player who loses every few games, not playing with 50's is a serious case?

If people report you over and over you get banned?

If people report you over and over and your not actually -42 do you get banned?

How come i see 500+ match boosters, that are actually boosting all the time?

I was playing games around my rank, was I actually boosting myself?

Where can i find out why i was banned, or is that obvious?

If it's a console ban, does that mean my "Sicarios Swat" account will be active again?

If it's active, am i allowed to play on it, and just not leave games anymore, or will i just get banned again?!?!

Doesn't matter

If people report you over and over you get banned?
Not from Bungie

Not from Bungie

Where?

Your story suggests that you were boosting

Where can i find out why i was banned, or is that obvious?
The message should have told you where to go. Anyways review Xbox Live Terms of Service and Code of Conduct. Somewhere on this site ban reasons are covered. I'm too lazy to do your work and find a link for you.

If it's a console ban, does that mean my "Sicarios Swat" account will be active again?
Technically, assuming your console ban is a different time frame from your account ban. It doesn't matter though any ban won't let you play.

If it's active, am i allowed to play on it, and just not leave games anymore, or will i just get banned again?!?!
It won't be active if you recieved a console ban.

I've answered your questions to the best of my ability.

You said yourself that you had modded content on your file share, and that's why you were permanently banned from using you file share. There really wasn't anything left to answer.

WarmBed-

Usually the console gets banned as well as the GT. Don't test the limits and stop boosting so you don't get permanently banned from matchmaking.

I Heart Alesana-

Ignorance is not an excuse. Modded content gets you a permanent ban from the fileshare. Warnings are frequent and evident.

tankzor MkII-

What are you complaining about exaclty? Bungie has given us plenty of warning (even over Xbox Live) and a system to go after the boosters, quitters, modders, etc.

This got buried, I did answer it on like page 111.

When you die look up and I will be there.

I feel that there has to be a better way than banning the whole 360. I share a 360 with my lil brother, and came home to find he got a 2 week ban on his profile, a separate profile from mine. when I logged on to my profile it also received the ban from my little brothers profile. can't the 360 ban be a last resort?

Boosting is not tollerated.

How do you stop someone boosting, with a ban, there's no alternative.

  • 03.31.2009 1:03 AM PDT

When you die look up and I will be there.

that is understood, and I agree. I just feel that there has to be a way to ban gamertags first, not systems.

** P.S. after the incident, i had a very constructive talk with my little brother explaining the consequences of my 360 getting the ban. hopefully that will sink in...

That's the only thing you can do, just make sure he doesnt do it again.

I'm lucky, no-one in my family play's halo 3 :)

I still think banning the console is pretty darn serious for "Boosting," just keep banning the gamertags... After all, they said the system is animated, every banned gamertag is more money the user has to spend. If they wanna keep trying to boost, go for it.

I honestly had no clue that what i was doing could get me banned, and i will not ever leave a game again, I barely ever used bungie.net untill the ban, and thats when i finally figured out that i'm "that guy" "idiot" etc...

and now i've got this wonderful one strike on my mac address, on a 400$ brand new xbox, to which who knows maybe i'll be the innocent guy next time, and second strike no more halo for that xbox ever again.

You act like if you do it again and your xbox gets banned from matchmaking that it'll lose it's value. Halo 3 isn't the only game for xbox.

  • 03.31.2009 11:22 AM PDT

When you die look up and I will be there.

That is true. however, some people would have a useless 360 if they lost the ability to play halo.

(this comment doesn't include me... i just beat resident evil 5)

For the people critical of the console ban.

Achronos has said that they don't ban accounts but they ban people. The only effective way to ban a person is to ban the console.

Chlorophyll? More like BORE-O-Phyll!!!

How would we contact for the lifting of Bans? I have been banned for a different reason for about a year and a few months now. I would really like to know how to contact them.

The Sausage King of Chicago.

BTW, how long is a normal EXP ban, I am just wondering.

  • 03.31.2009 8:50 PM PDT

Here is a funny story about some very bad EXP boosters I ran across in the Rocket Race double EXP weekend. I ran across another set later and tried it again but no luck.

getting 50's

I got banned for exp. I didn't even realize that they made it a bannable offense. I sure as heck won't be quitting out of anymore games on that tag. I don't understand why they care if people exp boost anyway. Maybe they should just change the ranking system. I mean is banning really going to stop people? maybe, it will stop some. It's going to mess up stats for halo is what it's going to do. It sounds to me it's just another way for bungie to try an play God. Just pushing people away to other games is all your doing. Power trip. Ah what ever. It's to easy to get a fifty anyway probably better of trying to fix the ranking system or stop people from exploiting it as so many people like to call it.

Yes do check it out. Me and hobo hate boosters. So not only do we make them wait the whole game for there xp but we screwed two of them out of it. (lol) So watch to see how we trick them into getting a destination in Rocket Race dbl xp weekend.

P.S. sorry about vulgar name dont realy know how to change that.

Shwah

Try again, Tanto. I can not think of a single game (not to say they dont exist) that will allow you to exploit there systems and not get banned. Even if the game manufacturer does, MS can still ban you for a TOS violation.
