I know that in most, if not all states, you MUST take a permit test and then wait 6 months to take your license test(if under 18). Either way, your pretty much just bsing now.The cop will NO give you a ticket for having a tailight out because there is no way to know besides being told.

The key here is under 18. You don't need those if under 18, case and point. No I am not bsing. Not knowing is not an excuse. Most officers use their own personal discretion and don't give you a ticket that doesn't mean they can't. The point is take the banning system like police who don't use discretion towards the violaters.

EDIT- I'll take the disregard of the rest of my last post to mean you understood the analogy better.

Why should under 18 be the key(keep in mind you still have to get your permit, you just don't have to wait 6 months). MAin idea: this is a video game, and why should anyone have to keep being continually informed for the fun they paid for and want to do their own way. Driving can cause deaths and such, so the comparison is entirely invalid.

So, I got banned today. Certainly not appealing that. I had a friend over, we turned on our guitar hero controllers, hilarious. Only time I've ever done it, only time I will.

My question is simple. Can you rank up in ranked playlists even with the EXP ban? Should I just avoid Halo for 2 weeks?

Because if you are 18 you don't need the permit and "practice." You can just go in and take the license tests. Look at it through the relative activity (bear in mind the consequences you outlined are irrelevant to the analogy presented), its not a question of being continually informed but a question of similar situation both present, thats what the analogy is designed to do. Take one thing and relate it to a similar thing that is of the same nature.

To the rest of your post when you paid to use Xbox Live you signed an agreement that gave you license to use the service. You don't need to be "continually" informed about what that agreement stipulates. It says do not cheat. You cheated in a way that is easy to distinguish without Bungie outlining the actions for you (Even though they did provide ample warning and gave opportunity to be informed), you deserve to be banned just like every person that is in the same situation.

So you are saying you got banned for "using guitar hero controllers to play halo?"

Anyways, yes you can still rank up trueskill wise.

No, I'm saying I got banned for having two extras who only spun in circles.

Thanks for the info.

Bungie didn't make the "function boosting." Quite frankly, I don't think you know what boosting is...You can play with your friends just fine without boosting.

No, sorry on this one Dynamo, Bungie may have mentioned on Bungie.net not to boost, but never on XBL. Even over XBL it just says no cheating. Not once in that past freakin' year of my life playing this damn game and loving it have I ever seen anything other than TU2 telling me not to cheat. Even then, you can get those exact words and it won't say specifically "No Boosting EXP" anywhere in there. THIS IS MY POINT DYNAMO, you need to tell people that and Bungie has failed to do it over XBL! The grape vine is not the one that should serve justice.

I'll agree with Dyanmo.

There have been warning's about boosting since halo 2, whenever you go into matchmaking's, one of the hint's and tips on the left is a warning of cheating.
Also, when the banhammer changed, pressing start (to view bungie fav's ect) there has been two warning 's displaying cheating will get you bannned.

Prehap's if you were not boosting medals and exp of your guests, then you wouldnt have been banned.

One question, how's grifball and rumble pit?

  • 04.11.2009 1:02 PM PDT

Read my original post: I'm not proclaiming innocence. I know I cheated. I'm not going to do it again. I came here to ask a question; the question was answered. I did not ask to be preached to.

You should not need to be told not to cheat. Your own integrity should have that covered. It isn't just Bungie. All of XBox Live frowns on boosting, achievement boosting, and cheating. This is not a new thing.

Getting banned for getting achievements with your friends in a social match is retarded. If i take eight of my friends into a social game and we get achievements and then play the game then that's my business. It doesn't affect anyone else. I could care less if i got banned or not. If i actually want to rank up i'll play ranked and not social. I don't care about my social exp, but i think it's really retarded that i'm getting banned for exp boosting when i got a whole two experience out of a match for getting achievements. I played a whooping eight games where in most of them i lost so i can't even comprehend how that can be considered boosting for exp since i didn't really get any. I think it's funny that the people i was playing with got more experience out of it than i did, but i receieved the ban. That's something i also don't get. I get the ban for exp boosting when i got the least amount of exp out of the whole thing. That makes a lot of sense. I wasn't boosting. They weren't quitting out so i would get the win, and i wasn't getting the win for no reason. Most of the games were really close. I played a lot of multi-team after that too so can i be banned for winning in it as well just because i'm playing with my friends? I really wouldn't care if it said i was banned for achievement boosting because i was getting achievements with my friends. I've also helped people in single player games and other games, but that isn't considered a problem yet the second i go into a social match without anyone else it is. I don't really care about the ban because i could care less if i get exp or not, but I don't see how that can be called exp boosting.

Nope. Actually it's Microsoft and Xbox Live's business, literally. This is their business. You devalue what they set-up by not playing honestly.

Sure go for the achievements, doesnt mean you have to boost to get them.

And how about everyone whom's earned these achievement's legit, taking quite a few games to earn some of the achievements?

You should try playing the game, while getting achievements on the side then, instead of just going for the achievements.

The term Exp ban, consists of many different things.
Exp boosting.
Medal boosting
Neg Exp boosting.
Achievement boosting.

They all serve the same punishment, an Exp ban for X amount of time.

Getting achievements can cause the armour to have a bug occur, which is locking the armour again.

Just gain another achievement, and they should unlock again.
