Where did that ban thread go...

does your exp come back when your not banned?

Nope, any games won or lost during a ban, none of the exp is given to you.
However, if you quit games, you will still lose exp.

lolnope.

So like, I got banned A while back for fileshare misuse or something. Any possibility I could get my fileshare back? I accidentally uploaded a modified photo of Assembly before the mythic maps came out, and I thought it was a preview from a bungie employee. (guess I wasn't right) Can you unban my fileshare please? I really want to upload a few cool maps and gametypes again. I also do realize this is for exp bans but I'm too lazy to look anywhere else for answers and help.

Ignorance is not an excuse.
So far, there has been no word of any fileshare's ever being unbanned.

Create a silver account, and use that account's fileshare to display your creativity.

If it was microsofts and xbox lives business then they should ban me; not bungie. &i don't devalue anything. It's not ranked. I don't call social serious business. If i get achievements with friends and play for fun in social then that's not hurting anyone or anything. I don't call us getting achievements and then playing the game not playing honestly. It's not like we quit so the other could win or used it for medals or exp or anything else. We got the achievements and we played the matches.

And how about everyone whoms earned these achievements legit, taking quite a few games to earn some of the achievements?

- It doesnt affect them in anyway. Just like it doesnt affect me that they earned theirs legit. I didnt play with them or interfere with their game in anyway.

You should try playing the game, while getting achievements on the side then, instead of just going for the achievements.

- I payed 60 bucks and then 800 points on a map pack. If I want to go for achievements with my friends in a social match it shouldnt matter. we got the achievements while playing.

The term Exp ban, consists of many different things.
Exp boosting.
Medal boosting
Neg Exp boosting.
Achievement boosting.

They all serve the same punishment, an Exp ban for X amount of time.

- I dont mind the exp ban. Like I said, I really dont care about my social exp, but I got banned for exp boosting; not achievement boosting. If your going to ban someone then ban them for what it is otherwise i dont get it. I wasnt aware that you could ban someone for getting achievements.

Manipulating network conditions to give yourself an advantage, or to the detriment of the experience for other players.
Modifying your Xbox 360 hardware or Halo 3 software in any way. Skill or XP Boosting, deleveling, cheating or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior. Impersonating a Bungie employee on Xbox LIVE with intent to defraud or cause harm to other players.

I dont see where that says anything about getting in a social room with friends and playing and getting achievements. Its not like we dont play the game or didnt play the game. It isnt a crime that we got the achievements while doing so. The front page says whatever about cheating to get achievements. Im not cheating. In a social match with friends I dont call that cheating. It isnt like Im changing my language in lone wolves to match up with people in ranked or standbying or anything like that to get them. Thats what Id consider cheating. Not me playing with friends and getting them. If that is considered such a big deal and Im getting banned for doing that in social then I want to know why people in lone wolves who are doing the same thing but in ranked dont get banned as well.

So your beef is purely about semantics? It's not that you were banned its that you believe you were banned because of "EXP boosting" instead of separately labeled "achievement" boosting? Do you not see how these are accomplished through similar means and often look the same? Whatever way you want to put it you did something Bungie has deemed bannable. You seem to have no qualms with your punishment so I'm having difficulty with why you are upset...

No, sorry on this one Dynamo, Bungie may have mentioned on Bungie.net not to boost, but never on XBL. Even over XBL it just says no cheating. Not once in that past freakin' year of my life playing this damn game and loving it have I ever seen anything other than TU2 telling me not to cheat. Even then, you can get those exact words and it won't say specifically "No Boosting EXP" anywhere in there. THIS IS MY POINT DYNAMO, you need to tell people that and Bungie has failed to do it over XBL! The grape vine is not the one that should serve justice.

Bungie has made it evident that there are consequences to questionable behavior about gameplay as well as fileshare use and in most instances directed players to this website. Whether Bungie explicitly told you not to cheat is irrelevant, it doesn't matter because consequences have not been enforced until after TU2. Nonetheless to play X-box Live everybody has agreed not cheat allowing creators of games like Bungie to stipulate what players can and cannot do. Bungie has done enough in regards on notifying players which I would argue that they shouldn't have to in the first place.

Regarding your post before this one. I do not want a job at Bungie nor am I qualified for one. As stated previously I'm just bored with a lot of time on my hands.

The only reason I was unhappy about being banned for getting achievements like this is that I didn't know going on to get achievements was against any rules. It does say its automated on here, so I understand that it would probably look the same, but in all honesty it should probably say something more about it on the actual game. It also seems a bit cheap that I get banned for 2 weeks for taking a shortcut to ONE achievement.

Doubt it but if you are persistent and they don't like it I wouldn't put it past them.

Ban gets longer eventually to a permanent ban.

I just got banned for 2 weeks for I guess "achievement boosting." Ok yes I am an achievement whore.

Here is and idea: If the producers who set up the "achievements" for the new Mythic map pack and future map packs would have made the achievements only obtainable through "Ranked" play then there would not be this problem of people, like myself, going in with a group of 7 friends and starting a social match and playing to get the achievements.

Like I said if they didn't want people to do this then they should have made the achievements a "Ranked" only achievement. Just like they did with all of the original achievements.

Take the achievement "Save this Film" which states on a Mythic map, get a perfection medal during and ranked or social match. Ok yes I did get 7 other friends together and exploited a flaw in the system but I did do what they wanted. I did get the achievement through "SOCIAL" play. If they really didn't want people to exploit the flaw in the new achievements but teaming up with friends to get the achievement then they should have made all the achievements only obtainable through "RANKED" play.

Ok they ban me for 2 weeks for earning exp, cool, whatever. But this message is to whoever can fix the fallacy of the achievement system with new maps, so others don't have to suffer because they find a loop hole in the achievements like I did. Fix it or continue to ban people for out smarting the achievement!

My beef is that i think they are unjustly using an exp ban to ban people for getting achievements. I personally think that if anyone was to ban someone for achievement boosting it would be microsoft. I dont see how bungie has the authority to actually ban you for boosting achievements. Im not saying anyone is wrong, but i didnt know they had that power. I just dont see how you can ban someone for using your system against you. If you didnt want them to do it, put it in ranked. You cant expect to put something in social and expect people not to do it. It doesnt say you cant, and its not really a bannable offense in my opinion; however exp boosting is which is what theyre using to ban people for. My other beef is that i got 2 exp and the people with me got more than that and i got the ban. My last beef is that people do it in ranked and dont get banned. It should be fair and spread out. If i get banned for two weeks for getting achievements then the other people who do it in lone wolves and legendary should too. Like it or not there are people who dont care for halo 3 or who arent very good but do care for achievements who are going to boost them if there is an easy way to do it. Have you ever been to xbox360achievements? People boost in all kinds of games. Do you not think its a little flawed that the person with the least experience got the ban and that people who do it in ranked and actually cheat in ranked to do it dont get it? Im not saying they dont get it at all because im sure they catch some people, but considering how many lone wolves games ive been in where people are asking to get their achievements and sharing them i just dont really see them getting the ban. And no i have no qualms with my punishment. Getting a general based on exp doesnt mean anything to me and since everyone just plays double exp to make their record look better that doesnt mean anything to me either. If i deserve to get a general ill get it the way im supposed to in a ranked game. Unfortunately for me i obviously dont deserve one and have only got to a 46. Plus i play gears most the time now anyways. I didn't pick up halo again until the new achievements came out and probably wont play it again until the new ones do. Its been a fun couple of days and im not bashing or anything, but I personally dont get the same fun experience out of it as i did with 2. 3 is still fun and i still enjoy it, but i was absolutely horrible at 2 but it was a lot more fun of a game to me which is what we kept me playing. The only thing that really keeps me playing 3 are friends and achievements. What happens to your exp in those playlists anyways? I imagine eventually the maps will be free and required and the playlists wont be there anymore so will the exp you earned just basically be for nothing or will there be a way to show that you had it? I have another question as well since you guys seem to keep up with everything and be well informed. Why did they put in the experience ranking system? Before everyone just started buying 50s i felt like it actually meant something to be one. When i use to see a general i was like wow; these guys must be good. Now im just like well they either bought it or wow that 28 plays a lot. It seems like a slap in the face of people that are good or work really hard to be good for everyone to be able to get the symbol. I know that its just that and its not your actual numerical rank or anything, but i thought it meant more the way it was. I liked having a symbol for your numerical rank and then the grade for how much you played. I just didnt understand the need for the change which is why im asking. Again, not trying to bash or anything like that. Im honestly wondering and i dont keep up so i dont understand.
