There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.

Here is and idea: If the producers who set up the "achievements" for the new Mythic map pack and future map packs would have made the achievements only obtainable through "Ranked" play then there would not be this problem of people, like myself, going in with a group of 7 friends and starting a social match and playing to get the achievements.
Or, another idea is to punish people who game the system.

Take the achievement "Save this Film" which states on a Mythic map, get a perfection medal during and ranked or social match. Ok yes I did get 7 other friends together and exploited a flaw in the system but I did do what they wanted. I did get the achievement through "SOCIAL" play. If they really didn't want people to exploit the flaw in the new achievements but teaming up with friends to get the achievement then they should have made all the achievements only obtainable through "RANKED" play. You know, they created this list to give people a real opportunity to earn the achievemants. It isn't the designers fault that you have no problem with cheating. All of the poeple who are getting them honestly appreciate the ability to do it with their friends. What does it mean "it's only social?" I find cheating to be anti-social.

Ok they ban me for 2 weeks for earning exp, cool, whatever. But this message is to whoever can fix the fallacy of the achievement system with new maps, so others don't have to suffer because they find a loop hole in the achievements like I did. Fix it or continue to ban people for out smarting the achievement! It's not a fallacy. The mistake is yours, not theirs.

My beef is that i think they are unjustly using an exp ban to ban people for getting achievements. I personally think that if anyone was to ban someone for achievement boosting it would be microsoft. I dont see how bungie has the authority to actually ban you for boosting achievements. Im not saying anyone is wrong, but i didnt know they had that power.
Sure, Microsoft is probably against the boosting too, but it's Bungie's deal as well. It's their game that you diminish by cheating. I'd take offense too. They can ban you out of their game as per the Code of Conduct and the Terms of Service you agreed to.

I just dont see how you can ban someone for using your system against you. If you didnt want them to do it, put it in ranked. You cant expect to put something in social and expect people not to do it. Wow, really? It's Bungie's fault that you haven't got a little integrity. Show some responisbility for your own actions.

It doesnt say you cant, and its not really a bannable offense in my opinion; however exp boosting is which is what theyre using to ban people for. My other beef is that i got 2 exp and the people with me got more than that and i got the ban.Your opinion? Sure, in your opinion, boosting is OK. Of course you don't think it should be a punishable offense. But look at it from Bungie's perspective. If you created a game with all these ac hievements for gamesrs to earn, and they were all cheating to get it done, it really cheapens your work. You'd want it stopped too.

My last beef is that people do it in ranked and dont get banned. It should be fair and spread out. If i get banned for two weeks for getting achievements then the other people who do it in lone wolves and legendary should too. Like it or not there are people who dont care for halo 3 or who arent very good but do care for achievements who are going to boost them if there is an easy way to do it. Have you ever been to xbox360achievements? People boost in all kinds of games. Do you not think its a little flawed that the person with the least experience got the ban and that people who do it in ranked and actually cheat in ranked to do it dont get it?Why do you assume that other people aren't punished? How would you know? It is certanly harder to boost in a game by yourself instead of a game full of partners. Besides, I have to say that the arguments that "everybodey does it" is ridiculous. One, it's not true. And two, that's no excuse.

It seems like a slap in the face of people that are good or work really hard to be good for everyone to be able to get the symbol. I know that its just that and its not your actual numerical rank or anything, but i thought it meant more the way it was. I liked having a symbol for your numerical rank and then the grade for how much you played. I just didnt understand the need for the change which is why im asking. Again, not trying to bash or anything like that. Im honestly wondering and i dont keep up so i dont understand. This is good point. People who cheat to attain something, diminish the value of accomplishment for a person who get's there honestly. This is true for the game rank, and it is also true for achievements. So, if you apply your own logic to the whole experience your question should be answered.

Just because your banned doesnt mean you cant play matchmaking.
If you only want to play guardian, just place a lot of custom games, instead of quiting nearly ever other game.

Side note: Continueing on quitting, and the ban might become more sevear.

Rockets zipping past my ears, bullets ricocheting off my sheild, and somebody is trying to give me a headache.

I find this to be utter b/s. Banning people because they are boosting to get achievements that mean nothing, can be used for nothing, and have no effect on anything other than to say, "I have a bigger e--blam!-," is a little ridiculous. If you're going to ban people for boosting, ban all of us cause we have all done it at one point. Even Mr. Knuckles Dawson has done it, and guess what he posted a video about it, but he quickly took it down after a few days of it being up. Here's the link to the post that had the video: http://ah.roosterteeth.com/archive/episode.php?id=661. So here's a simple solution for you Bungie, because we have ALL boosted for achievements, why don't you suspend experience for two weeks so that nobody gets any and say, "because there are millions of you out there boosting for achievements, we're suspending ALL experience for two weeks." Do this situation once a year and I'll be happy with it.

If you think you're wussy "Banhammer" is going to make any lick of difference, you're sadly mistaken. You ban people for having a little fun with friends, while letting the ones that abuse the game go. So until you can grow up and figure out how to use your "Banhammer," I'll continue to do what I do, and consider you the bully child that gets upset when you don't get your way. Have a wonderful day.

I'd say from the time you opened it?
Most likely at the end of the day however.

does getting banned for 2 weeks b/c of achievement boosting, make it so you can never get recon?

Banned full stop.
Regardless for what you got banned for.
And yes, no recon.

When the Vidmaster's are out, then we'll see if the people whom have been banned can acquire recon.

  • 04.12.2009 3:16 PM PDT

i dont think that getting urself banned for trying to get a perfection will thwart your efforts for recon. Bungie is not that cold

How to flag yourself for a ban for dummies:

Congratulations, one of the reason's why a Dbl Exp playlist will most likely never become perm.

  • 04.12.2009 5:50 PM PDT

Well actually I only did one game, I was getting the bulltrue achievement. I've never 'boosted' multiple games in a row. If I did I'd feel like I was cheating myself more then the game. I like to see my REAL stats and how good I really am. But I just let it get the best of me for that one game and I got what I deserve. Why would a double exp playlist become perm anyways? If people could get xp for grifball any time they wanted, that would be ridiculous.

One game more then enough.

Some people beg bungie for Dbl exp playlist's to become perm (Griffball/Infection ect) But boosting occurs too much in them.

Then its microsofts business. Bungie is not the head of my profile or my achievements or anything like that. Bungie has control over their game which is why they are banning me and not Microsoft because Microsoft obviously would not ban me for having fun with my friends and getting achievements at the same time. The only time ive ever seen Microsoft do anything about achievements is when they catch someone profile glitching them. They can ban me for exp boosting which is what they are calling it but not achievements. I want to know what the limit is for that too. I got two exp. I do not even see where they can call that exp boosting.

No. It is bungies fault that they put something in a social match that you could play with friends. It does not matter anyways. People boost their achievements all the time. It is actually kind of funny to think about.

I did not say it should not be. If they want to do that and have that authority then that is fine. That is what they should ban me for. I personally do not see where they have that authority and that is why they are not banning people for actually getting achievements. People are only playing a couple of games and it is considered exp boosting. That is ridiculous. I would consider 15 or maybe even 10 games if you were actually winning all of them and getting exp off all them exp boosting. I could see that. I do not feel sorry for them. I also would not care. If I put something in social for friends then id say have at it. If I wanted it stopped id have enough sense to put it in ranked.

Because im a 46 in lone wolves. Do you know how many games I sat in to get there where I heard people trading achievements? I really doubt that even 5 of the people who ive seen trade achievements in lone wolves actually got in trouble doing it. Apparently it is true. Look at how many people have got banned. Google it and see how many people are asking to boost or go to xbox360achievements and see how many posts are where people are boosting. A lot of people boost. I never used it as an excuse. I never said I should not have been banned if they can actually ban you for that. I just do not think they can. Legendary was a big thing too. I did not play them like I did mythic because I did not really care for any of the maps, but just about every game I was in people were getting together to boost.

Everyone has the same opportunity to do what I did. I do not think so. I think game rank and achievements are two very different things. And no that does not answer my question. I guess the real answer is that they wanted to cater to noobs like they like to do so they can at least have a general some way.

Bungie is also getting paid. They have already got payed for their work. I payed them with the 800 points i spent on their maps. If they want more integrity they should put in better achievements. Im with the killtac and the extermination and perfection. I get those. I dont get the sword, shotgun, warthog gunner, spallter, and hammer spree or the ghost kills. Out of my 26,312 kills ive only had 1892 kills with all of those weapons and vehicles combined. 1373 of them come from the shotgun from playing shotty snipes. I dont think any of those are skillful in anyway, and since i obviously dont use them, im not going to feel cheap in a real game when i can just play a social one with friends and get them and move on.

So if I got the same 'ol 2 week EXP ban on my console and GT that other people are talking about... does that put me on the list for no recon? This was my first and only offense.. :o(

I'm so dumb.
