You get banned for helping people, THAT IS BULLHOCKEY!
I got banned I think I agree with stiffmeister. How can they tell you how to play the game when it doesnt affect how other people play the game, if you want to cheat then thats you, not anybody else. But then he apoligizes and erases his stuff, way to stand with what you believe in crap bag! If you buy a tv, nobody can tell you what to watch on it. What I did didnt efect anybody, i cheated big deal how does that efect you

Nope, its bannable. You are obtaining items / achievements through deception/cheating and unsportsmanlike conduct therefore its bannable.

Why can you lot not just play the game properly and get the achievements as they meant, just proves whoever "boosted" for them hasn't got the required ability to get them through the proper channels and therefore is not achievement worthy.

I understand that my previous post left off with a touch of sarcasm, and i apologize for that, but the point remains, and im glad you've taken it in. Manipulating the network does not necessarily apply to just internet connection bugs. Matchmaking was established so that people may play one another over the internet in hopes of victory. If one party takes over the max amount of players for a playlist, they're manipulating the network because it wasn't meant to be used like that. It wasn't meant for people to go in, and willingly give one another kills, achievements, so on and so forth. Simply asking someone in FFA to help get an achievement can be defined as manipulation, if bungie were to decide so. Their definition. Ya know? They have said numerous times that what you have done is classified as manipulation.

the only reason I wanted it is so I can have it in my achievement list. I dont care that I got banned i frankly couldnt care less. I have playd a couple of games against people online, but its not my cup of tea, so I get the achievement in social, why do you people care so much how i got, its not affecting how you play the game cuz i am never see you in a match. what gets me is that bungie is controling how I play the game, and that affects me.

I understand your point of view is that if it doesn't effect anybody in-game, then why not be able to do it. First off, in a way, it does effect people online. If everyone else got the achievements legit and you cheated for them, it would make them feel annoyed and even maybe regret getting it legit. Second off, if you yourself labeled it as cheating, why would you argue against it? Cheating isn't allowed, this is a rule in life and in every legit institution that has ever existed. You acknowledge that it's cheating, but don't acknowledge that it's flat out wrong. Last but not least, you seem to be forgetting that this is bungie's game, and therefore their rules apply. Get used to their rules, and maybe you won't be disappointed in the future.

Thanks alot hototie. Made me feel good. (sarcastic smile)

I read the halo 3 banhammer information, and came across something interresting, this is a quote directly from that, "Manipulating network conditions to give yourself an advantage, or to the detriment of the experience for other players." what I did helping my friend technically didnt break the rules because I didnt give myself an advantage, and there was no one else there for me to impair their experience of the game.

What bugs me the most is not knowing exactly why I got banned!

I would like to say that I play video games as an escape from reality, so I dont have to deal with the pressures of everyday life, if someone is content with the fact that they cheated, that might be their escape, and if they are happy then bungie did there job to provide this person with the escape they were seeking, they got their "cup of tea."

Also if someone who got the achievement legitimately regrets getting it that way, then their intentions are no better than a cheaters intentions. They should feel proud that they got it legitimately, not annoyed. For example if you were a self made millionaire, and someone moved in next door that won millions in the lottery, you would still be left with that sense of pride right?

So you got banned for getting achievements. Your mission is accomplished. They can't take that away from you. You escaped from reality! Just enjoy your ban, gives you more time to escape in reality. I suggest learning from this and not doing it again.

You broke Bungie's rules, maybe not your own... but Bungie's rules... so if you want to play Bungie's game, you go by their rules. They have been clear about this for a while, I am sad to see you can't get a sense of reality to understand it.

In short, get better more honest friends. Come here as messages in game point to do so. There is no excuse to be uninformed and just because said "friend" says its ok doesn't mean it is ok.

Sorry you are wrong. What you did was breaking rules. This from the same banhammer page, "Skill or XP Boosting, deleveling, cheating or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior. " Achievement Boosting (what you claim you were doing) is considered cheating and is an unsocial bannable behavior.

What the eff is your problem dude, I did absolutely nothing to you, i even apologized for the way I talked to you earlier, i have never met you in a match and "manipulated' to cheat you out of a win, Have I? why are you wraping on me so bad, you are taking everything that I have said out of context and putting words in my mouth. I was proving a point, I didnt say that I was the example at hand in the second paragraph, i was simply saying... well what is obvious from what I wrote, I came to terms with the fact that i got banned and accepted it. the reasoning behind why I got banned is such, I! HELPED! MY! FRIEND! GET! ACHIEVEMENTS!
and I! GOT! BANNED! I understand, and I believe you are just looking for something to be mad about! Do you access to a copy of the banhammer info, if so read it, I know that I got banned for helping my friend get achievements, and at the time I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS AGAINST THE RULES AT THE TIME! I am sad that you cant come to terms with yourself to comprehend the fact that that is what happened to me, the reasons behind why I get banned when I help my friend get achievements still remains unanswered and you should definently quit trying to convince me that I am a G D fugitive from the law!

I am not attacking you. You asked a question, I gave you an answer. :)
I have no access to the actual banhammer, but I do have plenty of common sense. If you put 2 and 2 together, you can get an obvious answer. It doesn't matter if you just found out it was against the rules, you broke them. Just wait your ban out and don't do it again. It's that easy!

Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

Guys stiffmeister, atasuki, jedex.....lets stop the flaming.....

stiffmeister, ok you didn't know it was against the rules and it is a harsh lesson to learn, but I can bet you will not be doing it again.

The best rule of thumb for "open ended" terms of service, much like this which is open (in terms of viewing) to an individual's interpretation, is that if it feels wrong to do it, generally means it IS wrong.....

I agree totally with what you are saying, and you definently bet your ass that I am not going to go about the achievements the way I did the next time around, I do know now that it was against the rules what I did, which is why I am not going to do it again. I have definently learned my lesson. And to anybody who comes into this forum in the future, visit the banhammer information page at http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?link=H3Bans where there is a list that will explain reasons how you can get banned and what is not bannable.

Also new vistors, Richomack360 will most likely have the answer on your ban questions. Listen to him. ;-)
