I heard that using mods and cheats were okay, but only used offline or not interfering with play.

From the exact time you opened the message?

Give it a day or two, then it should be fine.

Mods/Cheats are "fine" in "offline play" but any attempt to being brought into matchmaking, usually means a permenant ban followed by an xboxlive ban.

(ie. no getting on bungie favorites) pm me if u have info.

Bungie does not ban you for doing nothing dont lie just face the truth you boosted in a ranked match and get what you deserve,

sorry this is going to sound stupid, but is EXP banned like where you cant gain any exp at all or like you play 20 games and get 1 exp

  • 02.23.2009 8:20 PM PDT

It's where you can gain any EXP at all. 1st time boosting offenders get a 2 week ban from gaining EXP.

shishka, HALO 3 IS A GAME, people will cheat and exp boost, who cares, we pay for the xbox live, is it going to harm people if we exp boost,no. i got banned a week ago, reason we played a full party: because u cant win griffball just by playin with randoms and all they do is betray, i cant believe we actually pay to play and they ban us. if people want to exp boost, let them, why do u think there exp boostin, because they want to go up in rank and have FUN thats what its all about, but bungie doesnt like fun, they get all -blam!- and seriouse about it.

. . . is it going to harm people if we exp boost . . .
Yes, it is. First off, there's the intangible stuff. It cheapens the whole gaming experience for the people who actually earned their experience.

Aside from that, there's a more concrete way in which it's harmful. Matchmaking is based on a ranking system that determines your rank based on who you win against, and who you lose against. You get matched with people of similar ranks, and the idea is that you'll eventually start getting matched up with people close to your own rank so that you get even matches. When you're experience boosting, you're giving the system a bunch of false data that throws your rank out of whack. Then when you start playing fairly again, you're matched up improperly, which means the teams you're playing against don't get an even match. It's supposed to be fun for everyone, not just you.

You missed the most important one. It sucks to play against a party of 7 boosters in Rumble Pit, whether one of them is running around killing his guests or not. I came to matchmaking expecting a fair game against competitive players, not players who stand still.

My xbox was banned for a week for boosting.

After a week I went back on halo and it said I have a three month ban????

It was my first offence, no one else played my xbox during this period, i have no modded content, no offensive motto or anything else I can think of.

Is it normal procedure to have a three month ban after already been given a week ban???

Any help or clarification would be great.

Ghost10006 I fail to see what I did wrong in the games you have highlighted, and also the ban was not on the account I am posting on.

I am just enquiring as to whether it is normal procedure to have your ban extended from one week to three months without even playing the banned xbox (for any game) during the banned period?

I pay for XBox Live too, and I expect to play fair matches against people in accordance of the rules of the game. If people aren't playing the game by the rules, why should I suffer, as someone who has done no wrongdoing?

In other news, you claim you got banned just for going into a game of Grifball with a full party, as if it was completely innocent.
Can you explain why then, in this game the three players on the winning team each got Invincibles and killionaires against a team made up of one account playing with three guests? In fact, they got exactly ONE of each multikill up to Killionaire and exactly ONE spree series up to Invincible - except for the guy who got two overkills and two exterminations.
Meanwhile on the other team, the players got no kills whatsoever, and even worse when you look at the game viewer you see that EVERY single kill happened along the spawn wall - so they never even made it off the mark, even at the start!

Not sure if it is "extended" per se. Maybe you misread your initial message. Or maybe you aren't being honest about it being your first and only offense...

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Wait, so an EXP ban is getting banned from getting EXP, or what? Sorry for the n00b question, but I want to be sure.
