We need to know what level and what part of the level. High Charity has Flood right away. Also, what difficulty? You might be thinking of Gravemind or Sacred Icon.

Describe your surroundings accurately and we can help you.

To play or not to play....

The trick is to go slow and check those nasty corners. Use grenades whenever you can and try to find bruteshot and other flood suited weapons. The carbine is useful later on but it is harder to take down Flood than with a shotty.

You can malee with the Brute shot. It is almost as good as the sword but it never runs out of energy. The only trick is you need to get close to whack'em.

Go slow and look around alot. If you think an area looks safe LOOK AGAIN. Those Flood have a nasty habit of dropping in from up top so never assume you can just walk through. Always have ammo and grenades handy.

Otherwise let us know exactly where you are and we can give specific advice.

I just checked. It's High Charity. I do it on normal by myself because the H2 flood are wayyyyyyy too overpowered.

Well, the carbine takes the Flood out nicely. If you run up the right ramp two Flood will come. Kill them w/ the Carbine and pick up the sword that one of them carries, if you want. On Normal you can kill them all w/ the sword. After killing them all this should give you a Bruteshot and sword to continue. Or you can take the shotty and Bruteshot.

In the next map you will see a sniper container. You may want one of those because you can stay back and kill without fear.

Just for the record you can find a rocket launcher near the crashed pelikan. I suggest you take it and make good use of it :)

Otherwise don't forget you can duel weild. But also remember you can not grenade while doing that so if you need to grenade quickly drop your duel weapon toss the grenade then pick up the duel weapon.

Do not be afraid to back up but look behind you as you do those carrier forms like to sneak up on you from behind. If they go pop they will hurt you badly and often toss you forward towards whatever you are running away from. Then those pesy infection forms will rush you. Best to avoid those carriers.

Look for dropped weapons and grenades. You will find quite a few.

Oh and if you see a carrier form that hasn't noticed you then you can hide behind a pillar or something and let it simply walk past. just remember where it was going as you may need to go there and it will be in there. However this can give you time to recover from a fight and maybe find dropped ammo and weapons.

Otherwise the best advice is to simply stay alive :)

On legendary this level is just a serious pain in my kiester. The hardest parts to survive (without just running through) are the interior foggy levels and the part just after the first(?)elevator (where the flood and covies are fighting and there is one just wicked jackal sniper!). Overall this is one of the most challenging levels with or without any skulls on, playing on legendary. My best runs seem to be when I have a fully loaded BR, alot of frags and "lucky" tosses with plasmas. The amount of shielded flood make this a tough level!
