I'll be the first to say that I'm not sure if this has been discussed before. If this has been discussed, then please forgive me:)

Unlike Halo (1), where the vehicles didn't have a type of hull integrity/health system, vehicles in Halo 2 will have some sort of damage system. I was wondering if you guys think the HUD should change when you are in vehicles to display the "Health" of the vehicle you're driving. In other words, it might display the hull integritity of the vehicle. For instance, you're driving a warthog in MP and the left side gets hit with a rocket. The HUD might highlight the left side of a small hologram of the warthog in the health section of the HUD in a color that pertains to the amount of damage it took. Green = 100%Health, Blue = 75%-100%Health, Yellow = 50-75% health, Orange = 25%-50% health, and ( of course ) red=0%-25% health. Do you guys think this feature would help you make the judgement call of bailing on a vehicle before it blows, or would you rather wing it and use your instincts to judge the situation? "Would you like it as an option that you could turn on or off?"( Riddick10 ) Oh, don't just vote... if you have the time, write what you think:)

thats a really good idea, they SHOULD have a mini picture of the vehicle you are driving in the corner or something when you are driving it, so you know how damaged it is, and whether you actually want to get into it depending on the amount of damage it has.....

great thinking...nice to see an original post

Not a picture, just another smaller healthbar that says "warthog" or whatever next to it.

i think it will be pretty obivous how bad the vehicle is damaged but i dont really care as long as it does go from perfectly fine to suddenly dead

that idea is very oorignal, similar in other games but a great, badass idea for that, yes a picture but not too big, the color scheme would be awesome to no where ur takin damage, which part of the vehicle is about to crumble , nice dude...and the MPH, and such..would be nice...oh and it would be funny to see like a miles gauge, to see how long that vehclke has lasted, how many miles its travled so far, b4 shes gone...lol

Nice "original" post.

Sorry Captain Obvious, if that is a jab at me. I was, and still am, collecting my thoughts down. It wasn't a "plagerizing" moment, if that's what your after. I had already put the idea of a pic/hologram in the post, I just went back to make it more clear. Just so the record is straight though, you threw out an "understandable idea" of a picture in the HUD before I could post it:)

I guess there won't be a health bar in the HUD, as far as we are aware at the moment, so this may be a defunct idea???

When I saw your topic, that exact same idea came to my mind. I have to agree. There has to be something to tell you if the hog is damage, or at least have a picture where you can see what parts got blown off or something.

 • 07.02.2004 11:22 AM PDT

I think it would be a really cool option, maybe even one you could turn on or off, as some have stated. It would add just a little bit more dept to the driving part of the game.

They had that in the Banshee and Ghost in SP in Halo so I imagine it wouldnt be that hard to implement into Halo2

yea i think thats a good idea. when ur in the vehicle its kinda hard to see how badly ur vehicle is damaged. Like Halo 1 when u got a covie vehicle it has a life bar. it would make a nice option for multiplayer

Someone set up us the bomb
on XBL i'm Gangsta Assasin

i think that we should ask shishka. he knows, because he played it. SHISHKA!!! CAN YOU HEAR ME?!???!?!?!?!?!?!?! or maybe it wasn't implemented when he played. but i do think that a little picture of the vehicle (top view), in the corner, that shows how damaged the vehicle is, and where it is damaged. remember pod racer for the n64? like that.

And yeah, Opey could probably win that game without using his BR. Best SMG user in Halo.

They already have that in Halo for the Ghost and Banshee in the Campaign!

The vehicle HUD in Halo(1) wasn't indept at all. Since in Halo 2 "all damage" will be specific to all vehicles, I was thinking of a display that shows you specific damage. For example, the right side of your warthog has only 20% hull integrity. Because you would know this, if this option was implimented, then you would know to protect that side of the warthog from getting hit by a rocket:)

Thetre was a vehicle Damage system in halo 1 it was on the screen as soon as you got in it had vehicle name and wrenches and it had bars that changes colors and went away as you lost health

Displaying the vehicle health is totally unnecessary. You can see how much the vehicle is damaged visually. Also as your vehicle gets more damaged you will feel it through the controller. A vehicle with more damage will vibrate your controller more than one that is less damaged.
