Does anyone even play this game seriously anymore? I can't stand joining a game with no shield, shotguns/rockets on said map.

Ok, let me stop you there. There are lots of servers with very well rounded map cycles, you just need to look for them. Also, who plays video games seriously, seriously? Playing a video game seriously is like buying a Suzuki Gixxer and claiming to be a legitimate rider. (complete joke)

24 and female.

As it was mentioned before, you have to actually look. I play on many servers that do have shields and have more than just heavies lying around.

Plenty people play games seriously, and there's nothing wrong with it.

Define "seriously".

If someone happens to enjoy gaming or even one game in particular I'm fine with that. It's when you get these damn geeks who enter leagues and tournaments and think they're jesus come down for that fact. I can think of one particular good example of such a person, and I'm sure quite a few here know who I'm talking about. And I can't tell you how many times I wanted to stick my head through the screen and spit in his eye, just to show him what I thought about him and his "pro-ness"

That's just my rather strong opinion on the subject, I think competitive gaming is the pinnacle of lame. Right up there with furry pr0n and larping.

Maybe not all "pro" gamers are like that unnamed example, but so far I haven't met a single "pro" gamer who hasn't taken the opportunity to expunge their greatness upon the "pubbers" like so much rainbow colored feces.

I'm sorry (not really) if I've stepped on anyones toes over this issue.

If people want to play in leagues then that's fine.

If somebody gave me a chance to play for money, I'd take it. Some just prefer competitive gaming, and I'm one of them.

What's wrong with getting a team of friends and playing for the win? Far more exciting than a bunch of random players in a public server.

You'll find people with ego issues (and I know who you're talking about, and agree with what you said about them) in any competitive area, but that doesn't mean they're all like that.

If that's something you like doing, then don't let me stop you. To me the whole idea is just one big ego factory that doesn't require a great deal of effort to run. I just don't think it's worth the time.
