Call me delusional, but from the beginning I thought target tracking applied to all targets. Now I'm hearing it only tracks vehicles, and not those on foot. Considering the ability to sprint, I figured things would balance out quite nicely even in such encounters. Anyone got the straight word on this?

It tracks anything moving.
And can only track if it is shot in zoom.

No it's anything that is moving.
But for the rocket to track you have to shot the rocket in zoom.

I believe I read somewhere that it is anything (players and vehicles) as long as your zoomed in and in a reasonable range of the target, but let me get back to you on that.

I believe either Bungie, OXM or Game Informer (from their playing exp. at E3 2k4) said it only tracks vehicles....

Besides, sprinters can only run in one direction and shouldn't be to hard to take down (considering they also cannot use weapons).

I belive it only tracks vehicles.. what the point of tracking people (or aliens) on feet. There goin slow enough that you should have good aim on 'em

h2info.tk simply states that they track vehicles, neglecting to mention anything about those on foot. Something from a print magazine or other reputable source would make it a bit more official, though.

I dont think target tracking will ruin the game. I believe it has been put in to balance out vehicle damage. Becuase now that vehicles take damage and not the person in a vehicle it is a lot harder to stop someone in say a warthog. Let me explain

In halo CE, imagine comeone is getting off with your flag in a warthog, one rocket is enough to kill them most of the time. But now that vehicles have damage, it takes more than 1 rocket to destroy a warthog, and sometimes even more than 3 if they are glancing hits. This means someone who takes you flag, and escapes in a warthog would be hard to stop, you'd hit them once and if they didnt flip then it would have to much effect on them. But using target tracking you can hit them at greater distances, as they drive away. Plus it will make it easier to shoot down banshees in multiplayer aswell
