To end the endless posts about what each new weapon does I hjave compiled a list of each new weapon and a overview of each... enjoy!

Human weapons:

Sub-Machine Gun
The SMG fires Cal 5x23mm MF/caseless ammunition. It's fire rate is very high, but accuracy is decreased significantly at long range. It is issued with an extendable stock so a Marine can weild two at once if necessary. An optional feature is an extendable silencer for the barrel, though accuracy is even futher decreased when in use. When using two SMGs at once, recoil is more difficult to compensate, and it is easy to let your aim drift too high.

HA871 Battle Rifle
The battle rifle is a modified assault rifle with an extended barrel and has it's ammo computer replaced by a small 2X smart-linked scope. It fires KAT 9.5x40mm ammunition and is extremely accurate at all ranges.

C-7 Foaming explosive
C-7 foaming spray is a highly explosive compound that is used in demolitions. It is comprised of various chemicals that react to a signal electro shocks administered through a detonator stick. It is liquid in vacuum, but once contact with a hard surface and oxygen occurs, it becomes a foaming, semi-solid adhesive resin.

Covenant weapons:

Brute Grenade Launcher
Very little is known about this weapon, only that the Covenant Brutes seem to favor this weapon to others. It seems to fire some kind of energy grenade at very high velocities. It also has a very sharp blade on the underside of it that seems to be used as a melee weapon.

Plasma Sword
The Plasma sword is a very dangerous weapon used by gold Elites, black Spec Op Elites, and gray infiltrator Elites. The sword's plasma energy is held into a blade-like form with small magnetic field generators built into the handle mechanism. This is a smaller version of the Covenant's Capital Ship plasma weapon technology which uses massive generators to stabilize, contain, and guide the plasma without interfering with the plasma's effects. If the wielder drops the weapon a failsafe activates and deactivates the magnetic field without first dispensing the plasma consuming the handle thus destroying the weapon.

Carbine
This weapon has recently been seen in the hands of Elites and Jackals. Little is known about it except that it has a zoom mode for medium-to-long-range engagements. However, because the weapon's fire rate is higher than would be expected for a weapon of its size and class, it is also very effective in close quarters.

I also forgot to add an unconfirmed by Bunige but tested and confirmed by OXM weapon. It's the Covenants answer to the Sniper Rifle... : the Covenant Sniper Rifle. It super powerful and basically that all we know. If you want more info about this weapon check one of the below sidebars at the bottom of the page about Halo 2 ubdates in the June '04 edition of Official Xbox Magazine (OXM).

Guess what? I recognize that stuff. It is not official at all, as a matter of fact that is from a website that is more of a fan made thing. Bungie never said it, therefore it is not true. Here let me give you a quick lesson in what Bungie really has told us.

First off we don't know if Marines can even dual wield. We know the Chief can, as can Elites in multiplayer, but that is it.

HA871? Oh really? Since when did Bungie give out an model numbers? They haven't, it is fan speculated. Also it is not a modified assault rifle, it is its own seperate design. It is also a UNSC prototype, as is the SMG.

C-7 Explosive? Bungie never made mention of it. Besides C-7 is a step down from the UNSC standard of C-12 explosives.

Brute gun is pretty accurate in detail. I'm shocked (smell the sarcasm coming off of that)

Gray infiltrator Elites? Does he mean stealth Elites? If that is the case then he should specify. At least they got how the sword works right, must have consulted the books.

The carbine has not been seen in the hands of Jackals. No screenshots have Jackals carrying them. And the only screenshot that looks like a Jackal carrying one is in fact a Needler.

That is my little criticism of your information. I recommend that you look only to Bungie for answers and no where else. For only Bungie speaks the Tru7h.

Another thing. If you honestly think this thread will stop the ever increasing number of weapon questions, then you are wrong. Not everyone will read it and eve if it does get a sticky, then it will be ignored by all newcomers as they care not to look at what is placed before them.

I really think the covenant carbine and the covenant sniper rifle are one and the same.

Any one got proof otherwise?

You are correct, the Carbine is what was referred to as the Covenant Sniper Rifle. However, I don't believe that either the foaming explosive or the Brute Grenade Launcher has been confirmed on b.net yet.

EDIT: Taken from the FAQ:

Q

What new weapons will be available in Halo 2?

A

So far there have been a few new weapons revealed. The Battle Rifle is an evolved version of the original assault rifle and features increased accuracy, a scope, and a slower rate of fire. The SMG (Sub Machine Gun) is a rapid-fire gun that trades a high volume of bullets for decreased accuracy. We have also discussed the Covenant Carbine - an energy based sniper weapon. Also, as you now know, players will be able to wield the almightly Covenant energy sword.

Of course these are others, but we can't tell you about them yet.

I saw your source and they just guessed on a lot of info. Personnaly I think Bungie would tell us the model numbers, if they were already out to the public that is. Which they are not. Also EGM has a bad habit of misquoting and giving wrong info. As a matter of fact the only magazine that has yet to screw up like this I OXM. I've checked all the resources and overall most of their info is still innacurate or not mentioned by Bungie. I have nothing better to do all day then to study Halo and Halo 2 all day(yes I have no life...during the day). I look for this stuff in the attempt on sheding the truth and light on people about the Halo universe.

Simply put, if Bungie didn't say it, then it ain't true. They may of had an interview, but they still have innaccurate information.
