Does anyone dislike the fact that its impossible to change your name on Xbox Live because of your account? I think that Halo 2 should allow us to play as whatever the name of our profile is so we can change it and have different ones.

No, it shouldn't. That would defeat the point of a Gamertag.

Screw gamertags.

  • 07.02.2004 8:55 AM PDT

Why? They're one of the best things of Xbox Live. It saves you having to register with each publisher.

I think they should make it that you don't have to register and still be allowed to change your name. I don't know how but I'm sure there's some way to give each player an identifying feature.

OK, then, why exactly? The idea of the Gamertag is to make good and bad players recognisable in all games. So you can either say "Oh, I enjoyed playing with him" or "She was a right -blam!- - I must avoid her at all costs" in any game.

I'm saying that we'd still be able to recognize a player without the use of a Gamertag, but using some other form of recognition.

and that other form of recognition would be what? another gamertag? i'd hate it if some punk stole my tag and started going around pretending to be me. this way everyone has the same name all the time.

It wouldn't be another gamertag, no. I really have no clue what it would be other than that but then again, I'm not a computer freak who can come up with ideas forstuff like that.

A question about live:
Can you only have 1 gamertag per connection? Because we are three people in this house playing halo, me being the best by far. I am planning on getting live when Halo 2 comes, but everyone here wants to play on live, so if I bye it, and starts being considered as good (not very likely), and then my sister comes and ruins my reputation.

  • 07.02.2004 9:16 AM PDT

No, it's one Gamertag per subscription code.

Damn. Then if you sometime get owned by me, and then in another game sees me trying to hit someone with an SMG across the map, you know why

Are talking about like in mecha assualt your name is the gamer tag? Isnt the gamer tag just like a name for your xbox sort of like when you system link? Its confusing they should of just made it the xbox name. Then again if you wanted to use your gamer tag name on another persons xbox that wouldnt be possible. You see what the problem is? Maybe in Halo 2 you can sign in with your gamer tag like always but the name of your charcter will be diffrent.

Like how you use XBconnect with Halo 1.

Just get the rest of your family to buy a game with a 2 month free code in, or get them to buy a subscription card. Or even a Starter Kit each.

KEEP THE GAMERTAG, it is 1 of the main points of Xbox Live, it is useful, and the ppl wont be able to add u to there friends list, and u wont be able to contact any1 that was on UR contact list, SO if u think about it, getting rid of the Gamertag is a crap and pointless idea!

Keep the Gamertag I saw. If we didn't have Gamertags an instead multiple differnt nam,es for each game we would becoem like the PS2's online service... and do we really want that. Plus all the points Richard made too are important. Bungie also doesnt have the power to make that decision... Microsoft does

Richard- i have a friend that has the same Gamertag as you but hes Richard100 not 1000 (stupid but freaky)

Unreal Championship allows you to enter a new name. It is annoying. You never know who you're playing against. It really doesn't add anything to the game.

I am going to have to disagree with you Goweb but without being able to change your name you wont be able to have clan support your name is your identify that your in a clan and then you can meet up with other clan members and set up matches otherwise like in RB6 3 you have to ask around.
