Spartans don't die!

Here in france it s not like this a 9 year child can get Halo 3 whitout any parents with him at the shop! ( again i m not french!) I hate when a 10 years old noob come in game and tells "oh look, i killed kim" "oh i made a double kill" ,when they see a general "oh nooo, we all gonna loose"(not all generals have the skill of real general!) or when tey start shouting becase they lost ! And all that in french!
So it s a good point that little kids can t buy Halo 3 in Usa! (But they can whith theire parents so...it's their parents to avoid them playing H3)

i do have a question tho

what if your in a game and your friend invites you

will you still get banned for quitting

  • 10.05.2008 6:41 AM PDT

i am saying the same thing i said earlier you can't ban us for quitting because it is part of the game it is there to be used and most people do.if you are gonna ban us for quitting take away the option if you leave it on and say if you quit matches your banned.that is gonna mess up the halo experience there is always a reason they quit.and they are not stupid like what you put(lol they were funny though-10pts).so bungie i just have to say by doing this it is not something to get banned for because you left the option up so we can use it any time or just don't ban us take away like a rank or up the exp it takes away.

The one thing I'm concerned about it that I made a post earlier this week about boosting for achievements and was told that boosting for EXP and boosting for achievements were separate things, and only boosting for EXP would be punishable. A lot of people on Matchmaking want to boost for the new achievements, and if I start dropping out of games to avoid getting banned for achievement boosting, I'll end up getting banned for quitting too often. Can we get a final ruling on this? I know boosting for EXP is punishable, and i know why (having higher EXP than you should throws the TrueSkill matching system off, affecting game experience for some), but is achievement boosting (for GamerScore that is inherently worthless and meaningless) also a ban worthy offense?

I said it last week and I'll say it again - this is completely ridiculous. You are really trying to dictate behavior to the point that you will ban people for quitting too much? How exactly do you know when it is "valid" to quit and it isn't? How do you know what real life circumstances surround my needing to quit? Are you going to ban people that play Halo 3 on military bases because they have to quit out of a game to do something important? Are you going to ban people that have biological problems and have to run to the bathroom frequently? Are you going to ask me what real life circumstances surrounded me needing to quit before you ban me, or are you just going to ban me without warning, without bothering to check if there could have been some other problem?

I can already predict the answer to this post -
"No, we ban for behavior. Our mystical banhammer is able to use it's mighty powers of clairvoyance to determine exactly what you are doing when you quit out of Halo 3. You have been warned."

And I can already predict the response of the community to this change -
People will simply go away from their controller instead of quitting, leaving their xbox in the game while they go do whatever they were going to do anyway.

Great, so now instead of getting a quitter in Team Slayer, I'm going to get some jackass who stands still the whole game getting killed by the enemy team and making it even harder for our team to win than it would have been if he had just quit.

Personally, I will continue quitting whenever the hell I feel like it. If you want to ban me for it, go right ahead. I'd rather not play this game than have some high and mighty game developers try to tell me that I HAVE to play it and that I HAVE to finish games, even if they are terrible garbage like splockets or half my team quits.

Fallout 3 will be out soon anyway.
I think you're missing the point slightly. It's pretty easy to determine if someone is quitting many times in a row.

I totally concur with your assertion that there are many valid reasons to quit (i.e. Anything immediately more important than a video game). However, one needs to bear in mind the fact that quitting negatively affects the game of everyone else involved in that game. When starting a game, the player has a pretty good idea of how long it will take (Give or take a few minutes). So that throws out all excuses based on events that the player knew would (Or were likely to) occur within that time frame.

In my experience (And from anecdotal information received here in the forums) people aren't getting banned if their patterns of quitting are natural. People are getting banned who have a perpetual problem with quitting. These patterns are pretty simple to identify and the available responses are really simple as well. Since video game developers spend a lot of their time creating code to recognize complex patterns and respond in the context of complex behaviors, I actually do trust that the ban hammer is a pretty smart little thing. :)

With that in mind, please let us know if you get banned for your natural quitting patterns. I would be as upset as you if people were getting banned who weren't making attempts to do anything wrong.

I'm a person who loves those achievements, pointless though they may be. I don't care, and never have cared about my K/D ratio, rank, EXP, trueskill or anything like that. I was happy when I finally got my 1000 gamerscore, though waiting for the right gametype to knock out my achievements was extremely annoying.

Now, with the new achievements, it's even worse. There is only one feasible map to get the splatter spree on, and it appears rarely (for me at least), and a lot of times it gets vetoed.

So even though I spent $130 on Halo 3 and $7.50 on the Legendary maps (just for the achievements, no less), if I quit because I don't want to waste 20 minutes of my time playing in a gametype I couldn't care less about on a map where I can't get my achievement, I'm going to get banned? That's absolutely ridiculous.

I know the technology powering the matchmaking is extremely powerful, but there should be a way where people can create and/or search for the exact kind of game they want. I don't need the game to tell me what kind of gametype to play, but mainly I just want to join matches to have a chance to get my achievement.

But I suppose if I'm going to get banned, I'll just wait for a better playlist to increase my chances of getting achievements, and then if I don't get the map/gametype I want for my achievements, I'll just sit there and afk while browsing the internet, if that's what Bungie prefers.

Banned for quitting? Stupidest thing I've ever heard. haha and that picture is -blam!- up

Unrelated to above post.
Does it not sound reasonable to instantly ban someone who quits after Game over has been announced? Sounds very reasonable to me. And possibly Instantly ban when the score is one off winning (obviously not objective) or there is only a short time left on the clock. (5-10 seconds). Would be nice to know the guy who quits right at the end has longer to wait than us.

Edit: There is no -blam!- way I'm a legendary member. Unless it has to do with my group.

Don't damage my calm.

I've never seen an answer to the question, of why Bungie doesn't post the names of those banned in a thread of shame. Does anyone know why they don't?

PM one of the team asking exactly why you were banned (they should be able to tell you what "behaviour" you exhibited that got you banned) once you know this you could start to put a case together for yourself, if innocent you should be able to prove it.

Hey guys, good work on getting the cheating handled. One thing though, no mention of doing something about the absolutely disgusting language and verbal abuse (not the sporting kind, but the racist and bigoted kind) that is a constant in Multiplayer. I know that I can mute, but I'd like to be able to communicate during the matches. I know that I can block the matching to an offensive player, but why should this behavior be tolerated at all? I'm not a prude and I utilize "George Carlin's 7 words you can never say on Television" when the situation dictates, but the HATE speech and absolute no concern for other's HALO experience is very disturbing. At least start announcing that you are concerned with the negative phenomenon on a consistant basis to get the 'word out'. Perhaps the language will begin to curb. Thanks. I think that if nothing is done or the problem ignored, this issue will come back to bite HALO Live in the future...

no u dont get banned standing in on spot waiting for someone to kill its only if they havent moved and been killed over and over again. I should know i got banned and so did everyone else for boosting 1 social game with 5 real people and my Ghost friend because we didnt want some random person in the game.

just curious, I've noticed that if you pick up a heavy weapon (I.E. Flamethrower, gun turret) and repeatedly drop and pick it up, you move faster.... is this considered cheating and risking the Banhammer's fury?

Yes, and also running the flag or ball where you pick it up and drop it to move faster will get you banned. Anything that is strategic or takes skill is considered cheating and will cause you to be banned. Don't even try 4shotting someone. Of course with this you probably are cheating with the impossibly inconsistant br.

Cool, thanks for that.

Great Bungie. Instead of fixing the piss-poor design of Matchmaking, you move onto another *definitely in need of repair* feature: the File Share.

THANK GOD it'll be easier.

By the way. Still don't see the point in having these new 'ranks'.

it makes it so you'll play against players closer to you're skill level in a single playlist
eventually. it takes a little bit for it to level it out because everyone starts as low ranks.

The only interesting thing was the ability to watch the videos and stuff without a capture card. Oh by the way(and this is directed to all of bungie)you guys are morons........seriously the whole banning people from getting exp for two weeks(and yes i was included in that group) that was just a stupid idea.........no one cares about exp anymore since you changed the system so any garbage kid can get a general .Seriously get a grip guys your losing your entire fan base and this whole campaign addition where OMG I CAN PLAY AS AN ODST is retarded the only reason the Halo series is any good is BECAUSE OF THE SPARTANS if I wanted to play some little IM A GIANT -blam!- WHO DIES WHEN I GET SHOT ONCE I would go play garbage Call of duty 4. I mean seriously you guys will not be able to find someone that is MORE of a Halo fanatic than I am....That being said you are losing your hardcore fans....sure your gaining bad kids back from call of duty that wouldnt be able to tell you that Master Chiefs real name is John but who the -blam!- cares? You guys are always saying that your about the community and that you make the games for your fans...........unfortunately that Hasn't been true since Halo 3 released......you guys completely slacked off and turned H3 into a game for nubs...I mean one of your main strategies was to use Big Team as a Big Bad ass playlist......but what did it turn out to be? I giant waste of everyone's time none enjoyed it nobody wants it back,You guys have turned into every other corporation in the world you release a shabby product to a fanbase that is gigantic because of your older work and they eat it like candy.....until you decide that hey we are going to release some stuff that should Have been include on the game disc and we are going to make it 20 more dollars......sure you can say that you wanted to make it free but big bad Microsoft wouldn't let you but we all know it is a lie.....what makes that situation any different than all the maps you released for Halo 2? how many of those were free right off the bat? Exactly you guys have absolutely no comments to this.I have a feeling this will be removed and i will probably be blacklisted again but I dont care If i can get one person to read this and realize that you guys are just money grubbing -blam!-s then my job is done.Or you guys could read this and instead of trying to deflect what Im saying you could do something about it.Im serious bungie you might think your doing fine with the fanbase but tell me this are you doing as well as you were at the Halo 2 1 year mark?I highly doubt it.........Your losing your fans because you guys just dont care anymore..............instead of releasing things that noone wants just because it was easier to do than something we did want just take the time and do it right give us what we want.......dont keep giving us inferior products an expect us to stay on your side............hopefully somebody at bungie realizes what I am saying is tru and does something about it..I just hope to god that you guys didnt wait to long to split from under Bill Gates thumb. One last thing I was and am one of if not the most devoted fan you guys have and I will continue Playing Halo 3 just like alot of your other fans..........but soon....most likely very soon.................everyones going to leave and they wont come back.

If you freaking hate Bungie so much and don't care then why the hell are you even making a post on this forum to show everyone how much you can -blam!- on something?

And furthermore for ANYONE to take you seriously, jesus f***ing christ learn to TYPE RIGHT and make paragraphs loser.

You talk big as if you know what people want, but all I see is "Halo 3 sucks nobody cares about what you've done with multiplayer nobody cares about me nobody cares about the story WAA WAA WAA WAAAH". I think someone needs cheese with their WHINE.

Please go somewhere else and kill yourself. Negative pricks like you are what are killing the community, not Bungie.
