I thought I'd get some advice from you Halo bananas out there that host LAN party's. For the last year or so my friends and I have been getting together and staying up way past our beddy-bye times playing game after game of HALO, but we've never felt the need (or really, had the gumption) to tally cumulative points, or kills, or anything like that.

Well, now we have quite a few people participating in our little LANy's and the need for a good point system that plays fair and keeps people honest has become key. We play mostly CTF and Slayer, so kill to death ratio and flag scores are probably the most important 'point value' factors in the ranking of our players, but I'm willing to hear tried-and-true methods for any game type or scenario. Thanks for any help Bungie Buggers.

Kill to death ratio = just take the number of kills and subtract the number of deaths (that means a kill is worth one point a death -1 point) thats how I do it, its real simple then!
Flag captures could be 5 points to your total!
Just my ideas!

See that's what I had in mind too. But doesn't that just turn into a Snipe Fest where everybody just holes up and is afraid to venture out? I'm all about sniping, but not everybody is. I think that setting the point system like that would discourage random shootouts with ARs which can be the most fun part of HALO LAN.

Ive heard people say thats a problem, but with the people I play with that doesnt happen! Because common sense says that makes a crap game! The other important thing is that me and my friends are at very similar levels so when we fight with AR's it isnt certain who will win. Sometimes I'll win sometimes my opponent will win!

Flag captures are difficult to score because someone may run the flag all the way back to the base and die before scoring and then a teammate spawns and drops the flag in for a score which really required no skill. Also, you might want to include assists as maybe a half point.
