the hud (from what ive heard from weekly updates, etc.) seems too me a bit crowded i mean think about it you have the dual weilding with stats for each gun, your health and shields and aiming reticle, and if you are playing in multi-player, you have all of your stats, and possibly the other top 3 or so (for those of you who are familiar with crimson skies), and im just a little bit worried that it will be too much.

Doubtful.

Bungie is pretty good about these kinds of things. I was thinking about the dual-wielding ammo counters yesterday, I think that if you just had one weapon's ammo count displayed over the other's, but just displaced by a little bit, and had the one underneath slightly transparent, that wouldn't look too bad.

The thing I'm worried about is the reserve weapon indicator and the various icons that will be displayed for each player in multiplayer games. I would hate to be playing on XBL and basically see nothing but a screen full of icons swirling around.

Another thing, I REALLY think that the flag carrier indicator should appear with line of sight only, like in HCE. Even if you're facing away from the flag carrier, you get a red arrow pointing in the direction of the flag carrier, but only if you have a clear line of sight.

At the very least, I think there should be options to set how it is displayed.

Anyways, my two cents.

Cheers.

The HUD that I saw at the E3'04 demo was anything but crowded. There's a lot of stuff, sure, but it's all low profile and non-distracting.

Wasn't the HUD for E3 temporary? I understood that the new HUD wasn't designed yet

I think a good setup would be to have one space for all the weapon info on either side of the screen at the top of the screen like in halo 1 exept have another one in the top right for your other weapon

From what I've read, the new HUD will have symbols that pop up to inform you things, instead of words. That sounds like it will solve alot of the "over crowded" HUD issues some of us have:)

I dont know the symbol thin seems like it would help if they use it, however that makes it really frustrating having to memorize all of them and have it second nature to know what they are

It's not like there'll be 20 different symbols to learn. It'll be "Out of ammo," and "out of grenades."

And while it's true the HUD at E3 this year was not the final HUD, I cannot imagine the final model being much of a departure.
