the X700 would actually be a huge step down from your current X1550.

The X2900 would bring an improvement, but your processor would be a bottleneck for that powerful card.

What type of Radeon graphics wouldnt be a bottleneck for my computer that would work good for Halo 2 Vista.

anyone?????????

bottlenecking or not, its still a major improvement.

the main thing is knowing what slot your video card is going to use

-AGP
-PCI
-PCI Express 16x
-PCI Express 16x 2.0

theres no sense in spending an assload of money for a X2900 only to find out you have an AGP slot

How about the Radeon X1800 or X1900 would it be a improvement from my X1550

the x1900 is a really decent card. once again, you have to know what kind of slots are available for use in your computer.

Just remember when you get it and it does not fit in your slot then you have to take scissors and cut the tabs on the card until it fits snug.

Upgrade the processor to the Intel Core 2 Duo 1.7 GHz (Each, it will show up as eather 1.7 GHz, or 3.4 (ish) GHz in a store. Then upgrade to the X2900, that should fix the bottleneck problem.

Or you could just screw ATI, and go for the nVidia 8600 GT. Works fine for Halo 2 on medium - high specs.

And how did that work out for you? o_O

Yea just because you started out with ATI doesn't mean you have to stay with ATI, you can still get a Geforce 8600. whatever you do DO NOT CUT IT in any way! that will kill it for good, and void your chances of sending it back for a different one.

This could be used instead of the 8600GT.
