Hi there.

Just wondering, I am trying to run a dedi, and so far I have managed to set up my init.txt and stuff but it is not appearing on the Gamespy Master list or letting anyone connect by IP.

Anyone got any ideas?

What ports would running a dedi use?

:)

Thanks.

make sure it's not saying the internal IP as the server IP usually starts 196 or something... you have to make sure you got yourself a static ip.. fllow your router directions or go to http://www.portforward.com and find your router and follow those instructions also make sure YOU are not trying to play on your server using the same computer that the server is on... IF you do try that make sure to change you in game network ports... move them a point or two in a direction just make them different and keep them somewhat close to the original.. mine is at 2300 client and 2305 port.

Another thing if that doesn't work is to call your ISP and ask if your locoally routed... and if you are try to get.. un locally routed

I reckon it might be porting that is causing the trouble since the dedi console seems to think that it is running ok.

Can anyone give me an overview of the ports used by the dedi and things like that and maybe even some suggestions as to what ports I should set up on HaloPC and what I should forward on the router etc.

Thanks.

Hmmm.

I am not totally sure whats going on. Tried changing my Halo ports around to 2304 and 2305 (from 2302 and 2303) and then opened them on the router but doesnt seem to have changed.

The server still isnt appearing in the gamespy list either.

Ok, update......managed to get it to appear on Gamespy but people cant connect.

I myself can connect from another computer in the house, so it must be port stuff.

Any hints?

*is annoying everyone but refuses to give up*

lol.... sadly I must say you are stuck exactly where I am.. I got this to work once before about a year ago but then for reasons beyond my control (partying to hard not enough studying...) I was not able to run the server anymore because I did not have my awesome T1 connection (got kicked outta college) um if you find anything plz post it cuz I'd like to know too

TBH it is seriously pissing me off.

I can join on my home network but people outside of it cant. I can host a game I set up on the actual Halo "Create Game" bit and use 2310 and 2311 but the dedi program cant be accessed outside of my network.

Really annoyed.

Heyyo,

Phone your ISP, you're almost definately locally routed. I had this prob. My locally routed ip started something like 175. so if yours starts like that you're probably locally routed. I had to phone my isp, and ask for their help. Just say something like "I'm trying to host a multiplayer game on my computer, and I've opened up the right ports and it's still not working. I was wondering if I'm locally routed. the ports that I needed to open were 2301 to 2305" I say it's always good to open a few extra ports just to be on the safe-side of things. ;)
