It said Halo was rated M because of blood and animated violence. I don't really know about that because you can always turn decals off. And I've seen first person shooters that were rated T. I wonder why it is M...

If it was any more violent, it would have to have been AO, the blood kicked it up to M.

Baldurs Gate is exaggerated violence, to be sure, but it's more charicatured. Halo shows fellow marines dying, blood pools, realistic weaponry (well the human weapons anyway), and human on human violence in multiplayer, with the aforementioned blood and realistic weaponry.

If they had added one thing, say body dismemberment, it would have probably needed an AO rating.

You will notice that almost all the FPS games that feature Human vs. Human Deathmatches, censor the blood, or feature fantastic weapons, or exaggerate things to the point of not being believable. Violence is a very big factor in the ratings of games today, more so than se.x, language or almost anything else. I think the rating is perfectly fair for Halo. I also think that it's a wonderul game that more people should be playing. But I don't believe it was intended for people under 16....

lol...i got it when i was twelve or so and im fine...lmao. But it should depend more on the maturity of the child/adult. I bet some adults would take it harder than some kids : ) But i guess there are several matters that play into the rating. I think -blam!- acts should be the part that mainly determines the rating. I mean, hell, just watch the news and you will see violence. I would go into polotics here even though i am only 14 but this is not the place. This is one of the hardest topics to debate so it really matters on each person's beliefs.

Blam acts I will take to mean se.x acts. But no - Se.x is a natural thing, and if treated with intelligence would be nothing bad at all. I would rather my daughter see a 'artistic' movie than a gorefest. Violence desensitizes to the point where we think Americas Funniest Videos is funny when someone gets a golfclub through their eye. Violence is also natural, but it's easier to live without, and much less pleasant.

And to any prudes who may be having a cow about me saying se.x is natural to people I know to be under 18, grow up. A great many of these kids wouldn't be so messed up if prudish people like you didn't mess them up to the point where they think having se.x is bad and shooting someone in the head isn't. And a great deal of these 'kids' are more mature than you. (a little pre flame rant, as I may get yelled at by some of the parents that don't use their heads for anything but a hatrack)

what they should do is mabye include a way to turn of the blood decals in Halo 2. I know a couple of games have done this, thus allowing them to get the "teen" rating.

Jim, quit bashing violence, It's great (In movies, Tv, and games) If you've ever used a Tozt on a Bob, you would understand.

Halo isn't that mature- sure, you shoot, kill, and assault enemies, but it isn't as graphic as the majority of FPS games out these days- they didn't have sniping head shots cause realistic blood gushing, nor explosions frag people into kibble bits like Quake's engine. It's definitely ok to play for a lot of people.

I think that it was rated M for violence and animated blood but not for language i think that it should just be that animated violence and launguage and my graphics card sucks on my one computer so i cant see it. anyway for pc i think it might be rated m because it might not be apropriate for some 13 year olds to play soo they just took it up a notch and if there were bodyparts floating around it would not be rated AO it would still be rated M like grand theft auto that is not rated AO now is it and it even has prostitutes and killing innocent people but in conlusion i think it is rated M because the flood is kinda creepy and lots of parents buy little kids T games and this game is not for them but again it also depends on the maturity level of the child

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

...yes

Any game where you can walk u to dead mutated flood-atized corpses and blow their ugly heads, torsos and arms off should be rated M. Any game where theres a parasitic lifeform named the Flood that infect humans making them all mushy and their skin holding their heads to the side and gross stuff like that. I've played Halo for a Long time now. From the very start. Before it came out on comp I had it for my Xbox. I'm so used to the flood by now they're just another enemy to kill, but when I first saw them they were gross, and I mean gross. Yea. Definantly. Thats what makes the game good; the gore and violance and stuff like that. If you couldnt melee the blood out of a jackal when hes dead it just wouldnt be the same... *deep sigh*

wait wait... no... cuz what about soldier of fortune? that has realistic weapons and stuff... massive blood, and DISMEMBERMENT and also decapition i do believe (head chopped off)...human on human, all sorts a goodies... and that scored the same "M" that Halo caught... sux for teens like me i guess (except that i managed to get my hands on it, so i guess not)... id also like to say that i ("i" being my parents) spent $1500 and a lot of time on a new pc so that i could play Halo for the PC, bcuz my old $2K Dell just didnt cut it... and now i am most impressed with Halo 1600x1200 all graphics max, plus 4x Anti Aliasing and 8X Anisotropic Filtering... its a sight to se without question.... Bungie, at one point in my life i wished you optimized Halo for PC just a lil better, but id like to say that you did a service to me... and for that i thank you.

"Halo for PC? maybe it could be T, But Halo for Xbox? Nuh-uh.M. "
----------------------------------------
Why would the PC version be rated T, while Xbox rated M?... the PC is only going to show higher detail in the blood and have more man vs. man (excuse my sexism, to any who are offended) fights (online)...

oh, and halo for "box with the 'x' in it somewhere " on it is most definately "M" also, some of you were talking like it wasnt
